Abstract

The hypothesis of this study stated that there was an influence of emotion regulation training to quality of life among patients with hypertension. Methods : The quality of life was measured by using quality of life scale based on aspect from WHOQOL-BREF (1998). An experimental method used was a pre and post-test control group design. Data were analysed by using Mann Whitney U. Results : The researchers found that there was no difference in the level of quality of life between the experimental group and the control group were not given training. However, the results of this study indicate that the quality of life scores in the experimental group increased during follow-up (p=0,002 (p<0,05). This suggest that quality of life among experimental group has increased compared to the control group, and consequently it accepted the hypothesis. Conclusion : Emotion regulation strategies can helped a person to cope the life stress that can be associated with psychological distress and quality of life.

Abstract

Any sort of accident creates a certain amount of psychological stress in anyone, but the stress becomes particularly acute when many people are killed. Varying to some extent with the individual, the immediate reactions to a disaster are shock, fear, sadness, and rage, which may even lead to a denial that the disastrous event occurred. A person’s sense of control over his or her life and many of the things that make it real and predictable are threatened by an unexpected disaster. Death is a part of life about which children and adults need to be familiar with death and understand it. Nevertheless, as with sex educa- tion, introduction of the topic of death in schools and colleges has sometimes been met with cries of alarm about the potentially damaging effects of readings, discussions, and other activities concerning this topic. Abstract

Abstract

The study examined the effectiveness of emotion regulation training to reduce criminal policeman's work stress. This study used a pretest-posttest control group design. The participants were 13 criminal policemen from two different police stations, namely Polda X and Polsek Y. They were men and women aged between 20 - 50 years old, and classified into two groups. One group (n = 6) received emotion regulation training as the experimental group and the other (n = 7) as controlled group (waiting list). Participants were assessed using work stress scale that had been adapted from Abras (2012) research. The result showed that there was a significant difference in the implementation of posttest between the experimental and control group. By using mann whitney, the result concluded that emotion regulation training was significantly effective to reduce work stress of criminal policeman (Z = -2,006, p = 0,045, where p < (0,05).Key words : work stress, emotion regulation training

Abstract

Lupus is an autoimmune disease that affects the physical condition and the individual's psychological. Lupus makes teenagers tend to have low subjective well-being. One of the intervention methods to improve personal well-being is through expressive writing. This research aims to observe the effectiveness of expressive writing to improve teenagers' subjective well-being with lupus. This research used one group pretest post-test design involving four people as the subjects (N=4). The data were collected using the measurement tools of Scale of Positive and Negative Experience (SPANE), Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS), interview, observation, and the results of the writing of the subjects during the therapy session. The results of the experimental research were in the form of quantitative analysis with the data analysis technique of the K-related sample test, showing no significant change to the scores of the subjective well-being among the subjects after given the therapy of expressive writing. However, the qualitative results showed that definitive writing therapy could be a catharsis media for teenagers with lupus. Therefore, we can conclude that expressive writing is less effective in improving subjective well-being but can be used as a catharsis media for teenagers with lupus.
