Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to describe the reflective students' critical thinking process in solving the problem of two-variable linear equation system. Instruments used to know the critical thinking process of the subject is a problem-solving test and interview. Through tests and interviews, we can analyze the critical thinking process of the subject based on six criteria focus, reason, inference, situation, clarity, and overview. The results showed that both subjects only met the criteria of focus, and experienced errors in making mathematical models, so that both are not able to solve the problem.Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan proses berpikir kritis siswa reflektif dalam menyelesaikan masalah sistem persamaan linier dua variabel. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengetahui proses berpikir kritis subjek adalah tes pemecahan masalah dan wawancara. Melalui tes dan wawancara, dapat dianalisis proses berpikir kritis subjek berdasarkan enam kriteria, yaitu focus, reason, inference, situation, clarity, dan overview. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kedua subjek hanya memenuhi kriteria focus, serta mengalami kesalahan dalam membuat model matematika sehingga keduanya tidak mampu menyelesaikan masalah.

Abstract

Argumen matematis siswa tingkat dasar hingga sekolah menengah sering sulit dikaitkan dengan pembuktian matematis formal. Model Argumen Toulmin menawarkan suatu pendekatan untuk menganalisis argumen yang sangat berbeda dengan pendekatan logika formal. Studi ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan struktur argumentasi siswa kelas VIIIB MTsN 1 Kediri ketika menyelesaikan masalah kovariasi berdasarkan teori argumentasi Toulmin. Hasil penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa subjek belum memiliki struktur argumen yang lengkap. Secara umum subjek membangun argumen secara induktif. Peran “backing” menjadi esensial ketika argumen subjek didukung oleh contoh-contoh kasus yang mengantarkan pada suatu kesimpulan, sementara “qualifier” dan “rebuttal” tidak muncul pada struktur argumen mereka.

Abstract

Knuth (2002), Healey and Hoyles (2000) have studied on teachers and students? concept on prooving. However, those studies did not yet discover on case ?how does student?s thinking process on fragmentation proofing?.?The Information Processing Theory is one of the theories that focus on one?s thinking process. It is one of the members of cognitive learning type theory which digs detail and deep on the relationship between subdivisions of information since it has been received from its surrounding until it permanently saved in someone?s mind. The aim of this study was describing thinking process of ikip mataram students in mathematic prooving based on information processing theory.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the process of thinking interaction of students in solving the open-ended problem. The thinking interaction of students' in this study is defined as an activity of exchanging thoughts between students one with other students through communication to produce the suitability of the thinking process between them through the resolution of open-ended problems. This study was conducted on a group of junior high school students with heterogeneous capabilities, consisting of 5 students, and have taken the material to build space. The data of thought interaction activity is obtained from discussion result in solving open-ended problem analyzed by information processing theory. Students' thinking interaction activities begin from one subject person who gives statement and understanding about the problem provided. Activity mutual ideas, complement or give feedback to other subject's comments, ask questions that have not been understood, or give an explanation in deciding the answer to be agreed. Subsequent activities decide the answer orally to be written by each subject. All subjects poured the agreed result on the answer sheet, but there were still doubts from the two subjects on the answer, so the subject looked back at the answers from other subjects. Some subjects continue to write answers and in the end, each subject has a form of answer in accordance with their respective understanding.

Abstract

This exploratory descriptive research aims to describe the process of discovering student?s conjecture in mathematics problem solving. There were 2 students in grade VII of Junior High School who participated as the research subject. The instruments used in this research were problem solving test and interview. This research consisted of three stages which were: 1) data collection; data taken process where the researcher asked every student to solve the problem given; 2) analysis on students? work and interview; in this step the researcher analyzed the results of the students? work and carried out interview with the students for further examination of conjecture discovering process when solving the problem; and 3) examining and concluding students? work result and interview result. The result of this study shows that the stages in discovering conjecture were done sequentially although not all steps were done.

Abstract

One of the applied integral is calculating the volume of a solid of revolution. Some errors experienced by students when solving the problem of volume of a solid of revolution are errors in drawing rotating objects and errors in formulating the volume of rotating objects in the form of integrals. This study aims to determine the scaffolding process that is given to students based on errors experienced when resolving rotating objects volume problems. The selection of research subjects is based on the smooth communication and ability of students so as to get three people. The data collection technique used is think aloud. From the results of the study obtained several errors experienced by the three research subjects with different initial abilities that is to simplify the function of absolute value. Scaffolding that is applied is to provide questions that lead to remember and explain the definition of an absolute value function. In addition, all research subjects also experienced errors in formulating the volume of solid of revolution. The scaffolding that is applied is to provide questions to remind about the concepts used in formulating the volume of solid of revolution. Then, the research subject with low ability has an error in determining the area that is limited by several functions and an error in identifying the components used to determine the volume of solid of revolution. Scaffolding applied is inviting students to contribute to look for clues in determining areas that are limited by several functions.

Abstract

Abstract: Mathematical disposition is an important aspect for students’ success in learning mathematics because it is a strong desire, awareness, tendency, and dedication in students to think and act mathematically. However, the mathematical disposition of 40 7th-grade students of MTs Al-Qodiri Jember has not been found in classroom learning. Students lack a positive attitude towards learning mathematics. Therefore, this descriptive study with a qualitative approach aims to describe the efforts made by mathematics teachers to raise students’ mathematical dispositions throughout classroom learning. The research data sources are mathematics teachers and 40 7th-grade students at MTs Al-Qodiri of Jember.Abstrak: Disposisi matematis merupakan satu hal yang penting demi keberhasilan siswa dalam belajar matematika, karena disposisi matematis itu sendiri merupakan keinginan, kesadaran, kecenderungan, dan dedikasi yang kuat pada diri siswa untuk berpikir dan berbuat secara matematis. Namun, disposisi matematis dari  40 siswa kelas VII MTs Al-Qodiri Jember masih kurang muncul dalam pembelajaran di kelas. Siswa kurang memiliki sikap positif terhadap pembelajaran matematika. Oleh karena itu, penelitian dekriptif dengan pendekatan kualiltatif ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan upaya apa yang dilakukan guru matematika untuk memunculkan disposisi matematis siswa selama pembelajaran di kelas. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan buku cerita bergambar kontekstual yang valid, praktis dan efektif, selain untuk meningkatkan kompetensi literasi membaca siswa. Kami hanya menggunakan 9 dari 10 tahap pengembangan. Subyek penelitian ini adalah beberapa siswa kelas IV SD Muhammadiyah Nganjuk Tahun Pelajaran 2019/2020. Teknik pengumpulan data adalah wawancara, observasi, dan angket. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah kualitas buku bergambar dikategorikan layak untuk siswa, karena memenuhi kriteria validitas dengan tingkat yang cukup valid. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian telah dijelaskan bahwa terjadi peningkatan hasil belajar siswa, dari persentase ketuntasan awal 72% hingga tes terakhir memperoleh persentase ketuntasan 93%. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan buku bergambar dengan pendekatan kontekstual dapat meningkatkan kompetensi literasi membaca siswa.

Abstract

Sequence and series have been taught directly through theory from books, making it difficult for students to link between concepts or between theories, so that there are still many students who can only solve problems limited to what has been exemplified by the teacher. This study aims to describe the application of hypothetical inquiry learning that can increase student activity and understand the sequence and series material. This research is a classroom action research conducted in April 2017. The research subjects were 38 students of class X IPA 5 SMAN 8 Malang. The results showed that applying hypothetical inquiry in learning could increase student activity and learning completeness. The increase in student activity from 11% in cycle I to 63% active criteria in cycle II, the percentage of students completing in cycle I, namely 63%, increased to 92% in cycle II.

Abstract

This research development aims to produce a learning device characterized by valid guided discoveries. The development of learning tools refers to the Thiagarajan, Semmel, and Semmel (1974) model, which is the development of Four-D, which is modified into Three-D. This development model consists of 3 stages of development, namely define, desig, and develop. Assessment of the quality of learning tools in this study consisted of evaluating validity. Learning tools are said to be valid if according to the judgment of experts and practitioners have content validity and construct validity. From the development results obtained learning tools (learning media, lesson plans, and mastery test material) quadratic function material characterized by guided discoveries, can be categorized valid. Based on the results of the development of learning tools obtained that the learning tools (learning media, lesson plans, and mastery tests of materials) are categorized valid in a row that is 3.05; 3.1; 3.1 and have met the specified criteria.Keywords: development, learning tools, guided discovery, quadratic functions
