Abstract

Every solar energy harvester systems have got two sources of energy loss: the MPPT circuit and the dc–dc converter. To increase the efficiency of the PV energy harvester, the energy losses from the MPPT circuit and the dc–dc converter need to be minimized. Here a new MPPT algorithm called successive approximation register is introduced. This MPPT algorithm has got a power down mode and a fast tracking time, to achieve low power consumption and energy savings. With this MPPT algorithm energy losses from the MPPT circuit can be minimized and this technique can be greatly applicable to low power application systems mainly as well as for high power application.DOI:http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ijece.v4i2.4557

Abstract

The burst-mode control is generally used to regulate the output voltage of the ac/dc adapter under light or no-load condition. Although the burst-mode control reduces the switching loss, the control-IC and the feedback circuit at the output side still consume a large amount of power. In order to further reduce the power consumption at no-load condition, a zero no-load power (ZNP) ac/dc adapter for electronic equipment with an embedded battery is proposed in this paper. When the proposed adapter is load connected, the operation is same as that of the conventional adapter. At no-load condition, the adapter is totally turned off. As a result the adapter can reduce the no-load power consumption to less than 1mW. Simulation of a 65 W adapter is presented in order to verify its validity.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ijpeds.v4i3.5669

Abstract

Direct Torque Control of Induction Motor has gained popularity in industrial applications mainly due to its simple control structure from its first introduction in 1986. Here the direct torque control (DTC) of induction motor with zone shifting space vector modulation (SVM) has been done. It uses a simple phase current re-construction algorithm for three phase induction motor (IM).The phase current re-construction algorithm is done by using information from the current that is from the phases between the inverter and the induction motor. The proposed algorithm is robust and very simple. It uses the AC current to get the stator current for estimating the motor flux and the electromagnetic torque. By evaluating through the torque value and the current the controlling of induction motor is done. The simulation results are also given which supports the direct torque control strategy of the induction motor (IM).DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ijpeds.v4i3.5641
