Abstract

Reproductive health in Indonesia is still very poor, as evidenced by the still high maternal mortality rate (MMR). MMR decline was slow, as well as in the province of Central Java. The highest is in Brebes Regency which has as many as 53 cases of maternal decease. One of the causes of high MMR is the lack of reproductive health sensitivity of bride and groom candidates. The purpose of this research is to analyze the influence of counseling on bride and groom candidates knowledge and attitude related to reproductive health. This research is a quasi experimental research with pre and post test without control group design. The population was bride and groom candidates listed in KUA of Brebes Regency in July and August of 2017, with a sample of 100 pairs selected according to the inclusion criteria. The interventions in the form of a one-day course by KUA officers on reproductive health with Bride and Groom Candidates Reproductive Healt booklet and flipcharts as the tools. The data of knowledge and attitude are obtained by interviewing the bride and groom candidates. Analysis is conducted with Wilcoxon Match Paired Test. The results showed that there is a difference of bride and groom candidates knowledge and attitude before and after intervention (p <0,05), with mean value increased 2.58 points (knowledge) and 3,21 points (attitude). Recommended advised are the pre-marital program socialized by KUA officers is expanded and multiplication of the booklet as a tool for the officers in pre-marital courses implementation.

Abstract

Youth groups have several problems such as consumption of fruits and vegetables that are less and overweight problems, so that adolescents can maintain their health, it is necessary to increase consumption of fruits and vegetables. The purpose of this study was to analyze the consumption of fruit and vegetables that are lacking as a risk factor for overweight among adolescent girls in FKM Undip Semarang class of 2018. This study uses an observational analytic type and a quantitative approach with a case-control design, as for sampling using a purposive sampling technique with total a sample of 84 research subjects. BMI data is taken by measuring the height and weight of research subjects. Data on fruit and vegetable consumption practices were obtained using FFQ sheets and 24-hour Food Recall sheets. For bivariate analysis using the chi-square test. The results showed that the number of servings of fruit consumption (p = 0.815) and the number of servings of vegetable consumption (p = 0.500) were not risk factors for overweight events. The results of this study also showed that the frequency of fruit consumption (p = 0.019; OR = 3.700; Cl 95% = 1.192-11.48) and the frequency of vegetable consumption (p = 0.023; OR = 3.333; Cl 95% = 1.14 - 9.72 ) can be said to be a risk factor for overweight events. It is expected that young women (female students) can apply the basic knowledge of nutrition that has been accepted to college and can increase the frequency of consumption of fruits and vegetables to prevent the incidence of overweight in adolescence.

Abstract

Carotenoids are pigments that are found in plants, animals, microorganisms and humans. The pigment has many functions, one of which is as an antioxidant. There have been many studies of carotenoids in plants, but the types of carotenoids in bacteria is very rarely observed when the potential is not lost. The ability of marine bacteria is well known to produce carotenoids. Bacterial symbionts associated with Sargassum polycytrum can produce neoxanthin. This research will test the antioxidant activity by DPPH method on bacterial symbionts pigment extracts as compared with extracts of S. polycytrum. Based on the results obtained IC50 of 3.01 ± 2350 ppm was obtain for extract pigments S. polycytrum, 645 ± 2.11 ppm for pigment extract bacterial symbionts, and 564 ± 2.26 ppm for ?-carotene as a comparison.

Abstract

Adolescents have a high burden of sexual and reproductive health problems and it is important to reach out to youth groups through health promotion initiatives. A literature review was carried out to identify the elements of a successful health promotion program to improve adolescent reproductive health and sex. This study identified and compiled a literature review published in 2000-2018 that focused on adolescents (10-24 years), reported reproductive and sexual health outcomes (pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections, condoms / contraceptive use, risky sexual behavior, access to health care sexual or intimate partner violence), and includes major studies that are mainly carried out in high-income countries. This report focuses on the features of the reproductive and sexual health program that were successfully identified in the interpretation and discussion of the systematic reviews included. This study identified 66 systematic reviews, of which 37 were reported on programs that were anecdotally or statistically related to the increase in program effectiveness and success. The general characteristics of effective interventions are: long-term or recurrent implementation; multi-regulation and multi-component; parental involvement; according to culture, gender, age; and the inclusion of skill development. There is a marked consistency of features increasing the effectiveness of reproductive and sexual health programs for adolescents even though wide variations in interventions are reviewed. There is a need to better implement this knowledge in future programs, and our findings provide useful guidance for optimizing the design of reproductive and sexual health interventions for adolescents.

Abstract

Teenage pregnancy is one of the important problems in the 21st century. There are more than 14 million teenagers who have given birth every year. There are 12.8 million occurrences in developing countries. The highest level in Africa. There are several other highest countries, including India, Bangladesh, Latin America and the Caribbean. The birthrate per 1000 at the age of 15-19 years is 115 in Aprika, 75 in Latin America and the Caribbean and 39 in Asia. This review aims to identify health determinants and risk factors for adolescent pregnancy. This study uses framewotk from Arskey and O?malley. The search engines used are PubMed, Medline, Science Direct, EBSCO, Cambridge Core, Proquest, Emerald insight, Scopus, Spinger. Online search engines get a number of 7257 relevant for citation which 367 qualify after a title and abstract review. After screening through a full text review article, a total of 20 articles that met the inclusion criteria were obtained. Teenage pregnancy is influenced by many factors including poverty, socio-economic and culture, norms and beliefs, low education (adolescents and parents), dropping out or being expelled from school so that it influences the opportunity to follow continuing education, adolescent self-esteem, closeness to family especially mothers , the presence of fathers and family structures and family acceptance of adolescent risk behavior. Given the condition of teenage pregnancies that are still high and have many negative impacts on maternal and infant health, a team is needed to establish a health system that is oriented to adolescent health, especially for teenage pregnancy, which should have been prevented beforehand. If, finding a teenage pregnant woman, it is expected that the health condition of the mother and baby will be more optimal.
