Abstract

The transition from adolescents to adult challenges is different from the challenges of life in the previous development process. Towards the age of 25, individuals face a new life such as work, marital status, and mindset. The quarter-life crisis is a phenomenon that is common in individuals aged 20-30 years old. The crisis of a quarter of a century, that's how the term counts with individuals who attend 25 years. The quarter-life crisis experiences’ by individuals grew up. This research is descriptive quantitative research. The subjects in this study consist of 236 adults in Pekanbaru who attended for 20-30 years. The retrieval of data in this study uses the quarter-life crisis scale. The results showed that the early adult individual quarter-life crisis in Pekanbaru reached 43.22%, increasing the high category of 27.97%. The results showed the fact that factors affecting the quarterly life crisis estimated as gender, status, and occupation. The conclusions of this study show that adults in Pekanbaru who spend a quarter of life issued by women, are single and do not have jobs.

Abstract

Cultural differences experienced by Thailand Selatan (Patani) students with Indonesian culture can cause cultural shock to Patani students. Culture shock is a reaction of individual discomfort when entering a new environment. One of the strategies in reducing culture shock is to get social support. This research examines whether there is a correlation between social support and culture shock in Patani students at the Islamic University of Riau. The research method used is quantitative research. Data collection was carried out using a scale of culture shock and social support scale. Pearson product-moment analysis was used to test the proposed hypothesis. Participants numbered 52 people using saturated sample techniques. The results showed that a negative and significant relationship between social support and culture shock in Patani students at the Islamic University of Riau with the r = -0,276 with p 0,024 (p< 0,05). The conclusion from this study shows that the higher the social support, the lower the culture shock. The culture shock was predicted by social support of 7.6%.

Abstract

Profesor merupakan salah satu bentuk kesuksesan dalam bidang pendidikan. Banyak cerita kesuksesan yang berawal dari pengalaman hidup yang sulit. Adversity quotient merupakan suatu kemampuan individu untuk dapat bertahan dalam menghadapi segala macam kesulitan sampai menemukan jalan keluar, memecahkan berbagai macam permasalahan, menghadapi hambatan dan rintangan dengan mengubah cara berfikir dan sikap terhadap sebuah kesulitan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana adversity quotient pada profesor. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah dua orang profesor yang ada di Universitas Islam Riau (UIR). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan teknik purposive sampling dan pendekatan biographical life history. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kedua subjek dalam penelitian ini memiliki kontrol, tanggung jawab, jangkauan, dan daya tahan terhadap hambatan kehidupan dan pendidikan yang mereka hadapi.
