Abstract

To resolve the health crisis caused by coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the Indonesian government is trying to implement a mandatory vaccination policy for all Indonesians. It was just that the success of this policy is largely determined by acceptance preceded by the public intention to be vaccinated, in which public perception plays a major role in determining intention. This research, therefore, aimed to evaluate and examine the role of perceived risk, benefit, and susceptibility on the COVID-19 vaccination intention. By using a cross-sectional approach, this quantitative study involved 98 participating respondents who were determined by the purposive sampling method. The results of this study finally found and proven that perceived risk (coefficient β=0.290 and T-value 2.456 with p-value=0.011), perceived benefits (β= 0.394 and T-value 3.873 with p-value=0.000), and perceived susceptibility (β=0.233 and T-value 3,230 with p-value=0.001) had a positive and significant effect on the COVID-19 vaccination intention.

Abstract

Departing from the mandatory vaccination had been debated and received a lot of rejection which has caused intense emotions. In this study, the authors tried to evaluate the mandatory regulation of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination from a human rights and utilitarianism perspective. By conducting normative research method, this study revealed that indeed the obligation that tends to be coercive for COVID-19 vaccination seems to violate individual human rights which each individual has the right to decide for themselves whether they want to participate in the program or not without coercion. However, mandatory vaccination is still justified, from a human rights perspective, to protect other people's rights not to be infected with infectious diseases. This is also in line with a utilitarian perspective that departs from the argument that vaccines provide a myriad of benefits for many people in the midst of a pandemic, therefore to create benefits for the majority of society, the mandatory COVID-19 vaccination is something that is needed. Even if necessary, both sanctions and punishments can be justified in utilitarianism to achieve the greatest utility for the society.

Abstract

Tariffs or price control has been a controversial subject in recent years. The debate between legal experts and economists is still a hot topic in any discussion. Tariff control regulated in the work creation omnibus law seems to be a topic that must be discussed again regarding this regulation’s urgency. Are specific prices so impressive that the government can intervene in regulating them? This article examines the urgency of rules regarding price controls to create a healthy competitive environment. After conducting a critical literature review, it was analyzed with critical analysis and looking at the objective of competition law was to maximize welfare by protecting competition. The results in this article indicated that the government could only intervene in regulating price-fixing only if companies’ pricing could harm the country’s economy and consumer welfare. The government, therefore, had an interest in regulating the price ceiling. Meanwhile, the price floor, which was believed to be pro-consumer and could promote consumer welfare had no interest and should not have been limited by the government.

Abstract

In today's world, it is no longer a surprise that (smart) mobile devices have become the most helpful technological devices to be used for various purposes, one of which is in English education. Therefore, studies on improving language learning, especially vocabulary for learners using mobile device technology, have become commonplace in today's digital era. However, to achieve maximum use, there needs to be an intention from students to accept the English vocabulary technology in the learning process. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to evaluate the integration capability of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) to predict and explain EFL college students' intention to utilize mobile English vocabulary learning. This research involves TAM because TAM has been widely applied to study information technology because of its effectiveness in assessing the level of user acceptance. Through a quantitative method using a cross-sectional survey approach involving 456 respondents, this study ultimately found that, after being analyzed using the PLS-SEM analysis technique, the constructs in TAM, including perceived ease of use (β = 0.302, T-Value = 6.587, and P-value = 0.000) and usefulness (β = 0.359, T-Value = 7.501, dan P-value = 0.000), had a positive and significant effect on EFL college students' intention to utilize mobile English vocabulary. Perceived usefulness shows the most dominant effect. However, this study has limitations that need to be considered. And, of course, caution in generalizing is necessary.
