Abstract

This research discusses about the regulation of product replenishment in K-24 Pharmacy Pondok Pinang. The main problem is that the total cost to replenish 4 products with highest value is too high. This may because of the existing regulation isn’t optimal enough. The amount of stock in an order and the range time between orders is too flexible, and the lead time from ordering to receiving the product is also small, allowing the firm to order new supply almost in any day, without considering the ordering cost. The author decides to determine the optimal regulation for the future of product replenishment system in K-24 Pharmacy Pondok Pinang. Therefore, the author needs to find new strategies to find the right regulation of product replenishment system that can reduce the total cost. Design/methodology/approach: The theories used are demand forecasting to find the targeted year’s estimated demand, continuous and periodic review policy with the ROP, EOQ, OUL and SS inside it to find whether the product should order with fixed quantity or range of time, business process to know the roles and help the implementation plan.Finding: The end of this research shows that K-24 Pharmacy Pondok Pinang should use the continuous review policy as their replenishment policy to minimum their total cost in the next years. Existing regulation is too flexible, the firm can order supplies with any quantity in any time, it may good to avoid lost sales but not for their costs.Research limitations/implications: This research only focus to the inventory management of the 4 chosen product, the year used for observation is from the last 2 years ( and 2011), and the variable of inflation and expired date will be ignored.Practical Implications: There are changes in system of recording the stock and sales to support the proposed replenishment strategy. The outcome of this research is Replenishment Strategy in form of new Review Policy to apply to the K-24 Pharmacy Pondok Pinang’s inventory management that can reduce the total cost.  Originality/value: This research has an outcome which is Replenishment Strategy that can reduce the total cost. Keywords: Inventory Management, Stock Replenishment Policy, Demand Forecast, PharmacyCategory: Performance Management; Operation.

Abstract

Background: Previous researches in different countries studiedabout operating theatre performance, but in Indonesia lessresearch has been conducted. Operating theatre performanceis measured by utilization rate, however the way utilizationmeasured in practice is different with the general terminology. We conduct research in one referral hospital. It was declaredthat although the utilization of operating theatre is not high, many patients wait for the services. Therefore, the objectivesof this research are to validate the low utilization rate and toidentify causes of unutilized capacity of operating theatre.Method: This research applied statistical description methodto analyze the utilization with general terminology, and theMonte Carlo simulation is run to identify what factors that causeunutilized capacity. Three scenarios are used in the simulation.First scenario is simulation with no cancellation occurs, the second is simulation with cancellation, and the third scenariois simulation for determining unutilized capacity due towaiting and idle time in operating theatre. Results: This study has successfully revealed factors causingunutilized capacity of operating theatre i.e. number of cancellation, waiting for facilities, and idle capacity. Our studyshows that 1% of cancellation rate will reduce utilization about1%. This study also indicates that unutilized capacity due towaiting for facilities and idle capacity in these operating theatresis fairly high. Conclusion: It had confirmed that operating theatres in thehospital are in low utilization and need for improvement. Determiningutilization rate with Monte Carlo simulation provides moreinformation to hospital manager for decision making process. Keywords: operating theatre, utilization, monte carlo simulation, healthcare services

Abstract

Draw point is a loading pointh beneath a stope, utilizing gravity to move down bulk material in underground mine block caving of PT Freeport Indonesia. A draw point is a steel set that is erected and poured in place with concrete. There are 9 sub processes of draw point construction: site preparation, lean concrete, embedded rail, concrete floor, anvil top, lintel set, forming & meshing, wall & roof concrete, stripping & general clean-up. Based on data analysis period 2008, there is a gap 4.03 until draw point of yearly target with average of completion time of a draw point construction 46.44 shifts and standard deviation 6.95 shifts. It is slower by 9.7% of target 42 shifts. The high standard deviation and slower process indicate there is a process quality problem in draw point construction so it makes draw point construction incompliance to achieve its monthly or yearly target. For improving the process quality, Six Sigma approach with DMAIC methodology will be used to indentify incapable process and its causes. Then alternative solutions are proposed to fix it and control the key process variable causing the defects. Keywords:completion time, process quality, six sigma, DMAIC

Abstract

Abstract. Hospital inventory management play a very significant role in hospital's performance. Too much inventory wiil lead to excessive inventory cost but too low inventory might result in dissatisfactions of patiens and lack of performance of physicians or doctors. Economic order Quantity (EOQ) is an inventory control method that can help hospital to minimize total inventort cost. However, managers might find difficulties in deterimining the right amount of ordering and holding cost which are needed in calculating EOQ. This research is a case study from a class “A” specialized hospital. Inventory data of pharmaceutical items are calculated to measure the sensitivity of changes in ordering and holding cost to average inventory level which will lead to understock or overstock. Different ordering cost and holding cost will lead to different proportion of overstock and understock but will not give a significant differences. This research recommend EOQ model to be used in hospital inventory management inspite of the difficulty and hesitation of hospitals to estimate ordering and holding cost. Keywords: Economic order quantity, sensitivity analysis, hospital inventory management, overstock, healthcare inventory management, holding cost, ordering cost, fixed order quantityAbstrak.
