Abstract

This article reports on the ability of feeble-minded or mentally retarded students in mathematical recall and problem-solving processes. In particular, this study investigated whether recall ability can affect feeble-minded students' ability to work on mathematical problems. This research was conducted using a mixed-method approach with a sequential explanatory research design. The sample of this study consisted of 34 feeble-minded students. The findings show that the ability of feeble-minded students to solve mathematical problems and their recall abilities were categorized as fair Another finding is that the ability to recall had a 62.1% effect on the ability to work on mathematical problems. The contribution of this study is that feeble-minded students' ability to work on mathematical problems is greatly influenced by their ability in the mathematical recall process.

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the differences of mathematical communication skills based on cognitive styles and gender. This research was a mixed-method with sequential explanatory design. The population was grade XI students at Senior High School in Jambi City consisting of 53 male and 72 female students. The study used a total sampling. The key informant consisted of four field independent and four field dependent. The instruments were used cognitive style test, mathematical communication test, and interviews. The differences of mathematical communication skills were analyzed using Mann-Whitney U-Test. Qualitative data were analyze descriptively using Miles and Huberman model. The results of this study showed that there was a significant difference of Field Independent (FI) and Field Dependent (FD) students in mathematical communication skills. FI can explain the information on the question well, using the mathematical model appropriately, explaining the problem-solving strategy very clear and structured, and being able to evaluate clearly and accurately. FD able to describing the information on the matter, but less complete, using the mathematical model appropriately, explaining the problem-solving strategy, but less complete, and being able to evaluate it quite clearly. The mathematical communication skills of male and female students were not significant differences. Male students are able to explain the strategy and the steps of solving the problem quite clearly, but less structured. Female students are able to explain the strategy and steps to resolve the problem clearly and structured.

Abstract

This research serves as a reference for teachers to implement problem-based learning models on analytical thinking skills and science process skills in mathematics subjects. This research examines the differences and relationships between students' analytical thinking skills and science process skills with problem-based learning models in mathematics. The sample of this research consisted of 180 students. This research is a quantitative study with a questionnaire as the instrument. The obtained data were analyzed using the t-test and correlation test. The results showed a significant difference between analytical thinking skills and students' science process skills, especially on the indicators of Observation and Classification at SMPN 35 Batanghari and SMPN 8 Batanghari students who applied the problem-based learning model in mathematics. Furthermore, it was found that there was a relationship between analytical thinking skills and science process skills because students with analytical thinking skills possessed better science process skills in problem-based learning models in mathematics subjects.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to identify the problem solving abilities possessed by junior high school students. The type of research used is quantitative which uses a research design survey. The sample of this study is  98 students taken based on purposive sampling techniques. This study uses descriptive statistics to analyze the data generated. From the results of the analysis that has been done, it was found that there is a problem solving indicator by students in mathematics which is a indicated by the indicators of planning a solution which has a good category of a 56.1% (55 of 98) students, the indicator of problem solving has a good category of a 56.1% (55 out of 98) students, indicators of a problem solving planning had a good category of a 54.1% (53 of 98) students, and an indicator of understanding a problem had a good category of a 60.2% (59 of 98) students.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the emotional intelligence of junior high school students, especially in managing emotions, recognizing emotions, and motivating themselves. This was quantitative study with survey design. There were 102 respondents participated in this research that were obtained based on purposive technique. The instruments used in this study were questionnaires and semi-structured interviews and data analysis using descriptive statistics, including mean, min, max, categorization, and percentage. From the results of the investigation that has been done, it is found that there is emotional intelligence of students in mathematics which is shown by the aspect of recognizing emotions which has a suitable category of 61.8% (63 of 102) students, the issue of managing emotions has an appropriate category of 53.9% (56 out of 102) students. The self-motivation aspect has a suitable category of 60.8% (62 out of 102) students. Students need to be allowed to develop direct experiences and thoughts on learning activities.

Abstract

Guru masih membuat insrumen penilaian berdasarkan adopsi dari buku matapelajaran yang belum menyentuh budaya lokal khususnya budaya Jambi. Penelitian pengembangan modul ini bertujuan mengetahui prosedur pengembangan instrumen penilaian, pembuatan modul, pengembangan Instrumen penilaian pembelajaran matematika berbasis budaya Jambi, validitas modul. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan penelitian pengembangan dengan model pengembangan ADDIE.Tahap yang dilakukan yaitu 1) Analyze, 2) Design, 3) Development, 4) Implement, 5) Evaluation. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMK N 1 Kota Jambi, pada semester ganjil tahun ajaran 2020/2021 dengan subjek penelitian yaitu guru matematika Hasil penelitian ini berdasarkan model pengembangan ADDIE yaitu, pada tahap analisis dilakukan analisis kurikulum, analisis karakteristik peserta didik, analisi smateri. Tahap perancangan dilakukan persiapan pembuatan produk, penyusunan kerangka modul, dan penyusunan instrumen penialain. Tahap pengembangan dilakukan pembuatan produk, kemudian instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah angket tertutup. Tahap Implementasi yaitu produk hasil pengembangan di validasi tim ahli materi dan validasi tim ahli desain, kemudian di uji cobakan kepada guru di SMK N 1 Kota Jambi. Tahap evaluasi melalui analisis data dengna uji validitas dan analitis data statistic deskripsif maka diperoleh kevalidan, data yang diperoleh dianalisis secara kualitatif. Kesimpulan penelitian ini menunjujkkan bahwa modul penyusunan instrumen penilaian pembelajaran matematika bagi guru berbasis budaya Jambi sudah valid.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah: (1) mendeskripsikan bagaimana berpikir pseudo pada siswa autis ringan-sedang dalam memecahkan masalah perkalian matematika, dan (2) mendeskripsikan bagaimana berpikir pseudo pada siswa autis berat dalam memecahkan masalah perkalian matematika. Subjek pada penelitian kualitatif ini adalah 4 siswa autis SLBN Prof. Dr. Sri Soedewi MS SH Jambi, dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling, menggunakan instrumen DSM-IV dan CARS sehingga mendapatkan 2 siswa autis kategori rendah-sedang dan 2 siswa kategori berat. Penelitian ini menggunakan instrumen lembar observasi awal, dokumentasi, soal tes tertulis materi perkalian, dan lembar wawancara. Hasil penelitian ini adalah: (1) Siswa autis ringan-sedang terkadang mampu mengungkapkan apa yang diketahui dan ditanyakan secara tertulis. Mereka dapat menyebutkan langkah pengerjaan sesuai dengan yang guru ajarkan, namun mereka tidak benar-benar dapat menjelaskan dan menjustifikasi hasil yang diperoleh. Sehingga disimpulkan saat memecahkan masalah perkalian, siswa autis ringan-sedang seringkali mengalami berpikir pseudo benar. (2) Siswa autis berat terkadang mengungkapkan apa yang diketahui dan ditanyakan tanpa memilih informasi penting pada soal. Mereka tidak dapat menyebutkan langkah pengerjaan sesuai dengan apa yang guru ajarkan sehingga langkah dan jawaban mereka salah. Mereka juga tidak dapat memperbaiki jawaban yang diperoleh. Sehingga disimpulkan bahwa saat memecahkan masalah perkalian, siswa autis berat seringkali mengalami berpikir pseudo salah.

Abstract

Abstract: In 21st century learning students is required to be more active in learning than teachers, therefore this study aims to determine whether there is an influence between computer-based learning media tutorials and students' spatial abilities in mathematics. Using quantitative descriptive. Where, the number of samples in this study were 240 students from SMP 11 Jambi City who used purposive sampling technique. Data were then analyzed with the help of the SPSS 21 application to find descriptive statistics in the form of mean, min, max, and category as well as inferential statistics using simple regression. The results obtained in this study are dominant in both the spatial abilities of students in mathematics. With this reinforced by the existence of a relationship and influence between computer-based learning media tutorials with students' spatial abilities in mathematics as seen from the sig value below 0.025, which is 0.016 and has a contribution of 72.6%.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan dan mengetahui kelayakan Lembar Kerja Peserta Didik (LKPD) berbasis pendekatan Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) pada materi segiempat untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa.  Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian dan pengembangan yang menggunakan model ADDIE yang terdiri dari 5 tahap yaitu analisis (analysis), desain (design), pengembangan (development), pelaksanaan (implementation), dan evaluasi (evaluation). Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII SMP Swasta Islam Terpadu Trio Batanghari tahun ajaran 2021/2022. Dalam penelitian ini, dilakukan uji coba perorangan yaitu dengan satu orang guru, uji coba produk pada kelompok kecil yang terdiri dari 8 orang siswa dan uji coba kelompok besar terdiri dari 22 orang siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah angket validasi ahli dan angket uji coba perorangan, uji coba kelompok kecil dan uji coba kelompok besar serta tes kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa. Analisis data penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan statistik deskriptif. Hasil penelitian ini yaitu sebuah LKPD berbasis pendekatan RME pada materi segiempat untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa, penilaian isi materi dan desain LKPD oleh ahli materi dan ahli desain LKPD, penilaian dan respon siswa terhadap LKPD yang telah dibuat, dan kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa terhadap penggunaan LKPD berbasis pendekatan RME  pada materi segiempat dengan memberikan post test.Kata kunci: Kemampuan Berpikir Kreatif, LKPD, Pendekatan RME This study aims to develop and determine the feasibility of the Student Worksheet based on the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach on rectangular material to improve students' creative thinking skills. This research is research and development that uses the ADDIE model which consists of 5 stages, namely analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The subjects of this study were 7th grade students of the SMP Swasta Islam Terpadu Trio Batanghari in the 2021/2022 academic year. In this study, individual trials were conducted with one teacher, product trials in small groups consisting of 8 students and large group trials consisting of 22 students. The instruments used in this study were expert validation questionnaires and individual test questionnaires, small group trials and large group trials and tests of students' creative thinking skills. The data analysis of this research was conducted using descriptive statistics. The results of this study are an student worksheet based on the RME approach on rectangular material to improve students' creative thinking skills, assessment of material content and student worksheet design by material experts and student worksheet design experts, student assessments and responses to student worksheet that have been made, and students' creative thinking ability to use student worksheet based on the RME approach on rectangular material by providing a post test.Keywords: Creative Thinking Skills, RME, Student Worksheet

Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kesalahan siswa dalam mengkontruksi konsep pada materi bangun ruang sisi datar berdasarkan pemberian scaffolding. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengambilan sampel dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Subjeknya adalah siswa Kelas VIII, dan subjek dalam penelitian ini menemukan tiga subjek yang mewakili keterampilan tinggi, sedang, dan rendah. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah soal tes dan lembar wawancara. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis melalui (1) langkah-langkah mereduksi data. (2) Menyajikan data, yaitu memilah jenis kesalahan yang dibuat siswa karena kesalahan. (3) Menarik kesimpulan, yaitu melakukan kegiatan sesuai dengan konsep masing-masing siswa tentang kelemahan konstruksi, atau menyajikan scaffolding. Hasil penelitian ini kesalahan kontruksi konsep pada indikator pseudo contruction “Benar” yang terjadi pada SE1 dan SE2 scaffolding yang sesuai adalah tahap pengembangan konseptual. indikator pseudo contruction “Salah” yang terjadi pada SE1 scaffolding yang sesuai adalah tahap pengembangan konseptual. Indikator lubang kontruksi seperti yang terjadi pada semua subjek scaffolding yang sesuai adalah tahap Explaining.mis-analogical contruction yang terjadi pada SE3 scaffolding adalah tahap restructuring. Indikator mis-logical contruction terjadi pada SE3 scaffolding yang sesuai adalah tahap Reviewing.Kata kunci: Kesalahan Kontruksi Konsep, Materi Bangun Ruang Sisi Datar,  Pemberian ScaffoldingAbstract This study aims to analyze student errors in constructing concepts in the flat-sided building material based on the provision of scaffolding. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research. The sampling technique in this study used a purposive sampling technique. The subjects were Class VIII students, and the subjects in this study found three subjects representing high, medium, and low skills. The instruments used in this study were test questions and interview sheets. The data obtained were analyzed through (1) data reduction steps. (2) Presenting data, namely sorting out the types of errors made by students due to errors. (3) Drawing conclusions, namely carrying out activities according to each student's concept of construction weaknesses, or presenting scaffolding. The result of this research is that the error in the construction of the concept on the "True" pseudo construction indicator that occurs in SE1 and SE2 of the appropriate scaffolding is the conceptual development stage. the indicator pseudo construction “Wrong” that occurs in the appropriate SE1 scaffolding is the conceptual development stage. The construction hole indicator as happened in all suitable scaffolding subjects is the Explaining stage. Mis-analogical construction that occurs in SE3 scaffolding is the restructuring stage. An indicator of mis-logical construction that occurs in the appropriate SE3 scaffolding is the Reviewing stage.Keywords: Concept Construction Errors, Flat Side Space Building Materials, Scaffolding
