Abstract

The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic has spread almost throughout the world. It makes all educational institutions in Indonesia experienced a lockdown in an undetermined time. As a result, teachers must switch to online teaching methods, while students must adapt to the online learning environment in a short time. Vocational education emphasizes not only the mastery of knowledge but also skills. In the learning process, students' perceptions can be used as evaluations to improve the quality of learning. This study aimed to provide an overview of students' perceptions of Mechanical Engineering Education on online learning as a result of the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. This study used survey methods and data collection in the form of instruments with a Likert scale with a sample of 56 students. The results of this study indicate that teachers in managing online learning are not in line with student expectations. Students feel that online learning has not provided better experience and productivity in mastering competencies, but can provide motivation and ease in their learning. Some students stated that they had the ease of access to resources, but students were still reluctant to use it sustainably in the future.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of students’ internal factors (information literacy, self-understanding, and attitude) on their decision to enroll in a vocational high school mechanical engineering program. It is ex-post facto correlation research using a sample of 300 out of 1,086 students. The sample was established using the proportional random sampling technique using the Krejcie and Morgan formula. The data were collected using questionnaires, observation sheets, and documents. The findings reveal that (1) there is a significant and positive correlation between the internal factors and the student’s decision to enroll in the mechanical engineering program of vocational high school (VHS); (2) all internal factors have a significant effect on both directly and indirectly on the student’s preference for mechanical engineering program of VHS.

Abstract

Abstract

Project-based learning is a learning model involving the participants' active role, who use the project as a learning tool to achieve student attitudes, knowledge, and skill competencies. Therefore, this study aims to examine the implementation of the Project-based Learning (PjBL) model in implementing entrepreneurship lectures. This learning model is carried out to help, encourage and guide students to focus on collaboration by involving group work and helping students to focus on their development. This research uses qualitative methods. The research was conducted at a state university in Yogyakarta with 51 students taking creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship courses, working in groups to get projects on making business proposals and prototypes of technology-based product innovations. The stages of learning include essential questions, planning, scheduling, monitoring, assessing, and evaluation. The study results show that implementing project-based learning in lectures can explore students' creativity, innovation, and creative thinking skills. Creativity, innovation, and creative thinking skills are shown by students in preparing business proposals and prototypes of technology-based product innovations. By doing these works, students can find out their level of understanding of learning. Group project assignments can generate creative ideas to assist students in exploring creativity, innovation, and creative thinking.
