Abstract

AbstractPlastic is a packaging material used as a container to protect and store food as well as non-food products essential for the community, specifically in Indonesia. This study aims to examine the effect of glycerol addition as a plasticizer on the physical characteristics of biodegradable plastic made from oil palm empty fruit bunches (OPEFBs). It was conducted through an experiment using a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 5 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments include P1, P2, P3, P4, and P5 with 1%, 1.5%, 2%, 2.5%, and 3% glycerol, respectively, in the formulation of biodegradable plastic. The results showed that the addition of glycerol had significant effects on water resistance, vapor transmission rate, tensile strength, and elongation, but had no significant effect on the biodegradability of plastic. Furthermore, the addition of glycerol as a plasticizer improved the elongation of biodegradable plastic made from OPEFB, but did not improve the characteristics of water resistance, vapor transmission rate, and tensile strength. The P1 treatment produced the best result as it generated a water resistance of 2.226%, vapor transmission rate of 16.306 g/m2/hour, tensile strength of 2.430 MPa, and elongation of 18.950%. In addition, the biodegradable plastic was able to decompose in two weeks.Keywords: biodegradable plastic, glycerol, oil palm empty fruit bunch AbstrakPlastik merupakan bahan kemasan yang digunakan sebagai wadah untuk melindungi dan menyimpan produk pangan dan non-pangan yang penting bagi masyarakat, khususnya di Indonesia. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menguji pengaruh penambahan gliserol sebagai plasticizer terhadap karakteristik fisik plastik biodegradable berbahan tandan kosong kelapa sawit. Penelitian ini dilakukan melalui eksperimen dengan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) yang terdiri dari 5 perlakuan dan 3 ulangan. Perlakuan dalam penelitian ini adalah P1, P2, P3, dan P4 dengan penambahan gliserol berturut-turut sebanyak 1%, 1,5%, 2%, 2,5%, dan 3% dalam formulasi plastik biodegradable. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penambahan gliserol berpengaruh nyata terhadap ketahanan air, laju transmisi uap air, kekuatan tarik, dan perpanjangan, namun tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap uji biodegradabilitas plastik biodegradable. Penambahan gliserol sebagai plasticizer meningkatkan elongasi plastik biodegradable dari tandan kosong kelapa sawit, namun tidak dapat meningkatkan karakteristik ketahanan air, laju transmisi uap air, dan kekuatan tarik. Perlakuan P1 adalah yang terbaik karena menghasilkan daya tahan air sebesar 2,226%, laju transmisi uap air sebesar 16,306 g/m2/jam, kuat tarik sebesar 2,430 MPa, dan elongasi sebesar 18,95%. Plastik biodegradable juga mampu terurai dalam waktu dua minggu.Kata kunci: gliserol, plastik biodegradable, tandan kosong kelapa sawit

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pemanfaatan limbah cair tahu dan buah maja sebagai pupuk organik cair guna mengurangi dampak pencemaran lingkungan sebab limbah industri tahu. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif yang menggambarkan tentang karakteristik POC limbah cair tahu dengan POC limbah cair tahu plus buah maja. Hasil analisis POC limbah cair tahu dan POC limbah cair tahu plus buah maja adalah berturut-turut N 1.05%, P 0.47%, K 0.48%, C,Org 20.8%, Ca 20.55 ppm, Mg 24.61 ppm dan pH 5.8 dan N 0.12%, P2O5 0.17%, KO3 0.13%, Mg 0.03%, Ca 0.19%, C-Org 0.37%, Dan pH 7.33. Dari hasil analisis masing-masing POC mengandung unsur hara makro dan mikro, namun POC limbah cair tahu memiliki kandungan unsur yang lebih besar dibandingkan dengan unsur hara yang terdapat pada POC limbah cair tahu plus buah maja.

Abstract

Post-harvest oil palm that does not comply with the Factory standart can cause losses in reducing the production of fresh fruit bunches. The objectives of this study are 1) To analyze he stages of harvest and the sources that result in the risk of harvesting oil palm FFB in each post-harvest chain that is traversed to the TPH at the Koperasi Petani Sawit Mandiri (KOPSA-M), Pangkalan Baru Village, Kampar Regency. 2) To analyze the amount of yield loss and the possible risk of harvesting oil palm FFB in each post-harvest chain That is traversed from the land to the TPH at the Koperasi Petani Sawit Mandiri (KOPSA-M) Pangkalan Baru Village, Siak Hulu District, Kampar Regency. The data analysis was descriptive quantitative research analysis. Sources of loss post-harvest of oil palm FFB at the Pangkalan Baru Village Independent Farmers Cooperative (KOPSA-M), Siak Hulu sub-district, Kampar district is the percentage of post-harvest loss of fresh fruit bunches (FFB). is equal to 5.21 percent of the total average FFB produced per plot (2 hectares). the losses are in the land, TPH, checking raw FFB and mill sorting. The percentage of losses in the land area is 1.73 percent of the total FFB yield. Meanwhile, the number of losses in the factory sorted amount was 2.70 percent and became the most significant loss for post-harvest FFB losses at KOPSA-M. Abstract

Halal tourism is currently an interesting trend to study. The population of Indonesia, amounting to 273.5 people, of which 87.2 percent are Muslim. This is a huge opportunity for the development of halal tourism. Pulau Belimbing Village is one of the villages in Kampar Regency which has tourist destinations that are synonymous with Islamic customs and religions which can be a site to promote Islamic culture. This research is a qualitative descriptive study that describes the existing conditions of the research object. From the results of this study, it was found that Pulau Belimbing Village has the potential to develop into one of the halal tourism destinations in Kampar Regency and Riau Province. Intense support from the local government and various interested parties is needed to realize this halal tourism.

Abstract

Oil palm empty fruit bunches (OPEFB) are solid waste from the palm industry that contains linocellulose in the form of lignin, cellulose and hemicellulose. Lignin using as a binder, adhesive, filler, surfactant, polymer product, dispersant and source of ingredients. The method of isolating lignin can be done by the organosolv method. In the organosolv process, temperature is a factor that will affect the speed of the lignin dissolution reaction. This study aims to determine the physical characteristics of oil palm empty fruit bunches of PT. Tunggal Perkasa Plantations, Regency of Indragiri Hulu, Riau Province. In the study conducted effect of cooking temperature on the isolation process of OPEFB with the organosolv method using acetic acid solvents with 0.1% HCl catalyst. The experimental design used in this study was a Completely Randomized Design consisting of 4 treatments  temperature of  cooking  (60°C,  85°C,  100°C  and  121°C).  L value indicates the brightness of lignin, the higher the L value means that the color of lignin is brighter. The value of Lignin at  100 ̊C was  35.14 while the value of L lignin at 121 C  was  32.245. If  ‘a’ values indicate lignin redness and  ‘b’ values indicate yellowish. The highest yield of OPEFB lignin was obtained using a temperature of 85 °C is 15.87%.

Abstract

The purpose of this study aims to get the best combination of palm oil midrib and coconut midrib in making charcoal briquettes. The study was conducted experimentally using a complete randomized design method consisting of 5 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments in this study were the ratio of palm oil midrib and coconut midrib charcoal as follows: KSK1 (100:0), KSK2 (75:25), KSK3 (50:50), KSK4 (25:75) and KSK5 (0:100). The parameters observed were density, water content, ash content, vapour content, bound carbon content and heating value. The result of palm oil midrib and coconut midrib shells had a significant effect on density, water content, ash content, vapour content, bound carbon content and heating value. Based on the results of the analysis, the best treatment in this study were KSK4 of palm oil midrib and coconut midrib (25:75) with a density of 0,58 g/cm3, water content 5,82%, ash content 5,87%, evaporating content 15,01%, bound carbon content 79,12%, and heating value content 6596,65 cal/g.

Abstract

Household’s Food security during the Covid 19 pandemic, through the use of yards, can be conducted by the community independently such as hydroponic. However, people's understanding of hydroponic, especially in Pekanbaru, is still limited. Therefore, training for the community is needed as a community empowerment. These activities can be expanded through interesting educational videos. This community empowerment activity aims to increase community knowledge and skills regarding hydroponic technology during the pandemic, and is expected to become a post-pandemic household-scale economic enterprise. This community service activity is carried out by means of training and mentoring, as well as making a video to be widely disseminated through social media. The results of the community service activities show an increase in community knowledge and skills of hydroponic. After the training, the community independently has been aplicating hydroponic technology and biulding hydroponic group. This process is documented as educational video which is useful for the wider community in Pekanbaru City.

Abstract

ON SPOT is a street vendor business engaged in contemporary beverages with the main ingredients of functional food yogurt and kefir. Not long ago, ON SPOT experienced problems in the form of losing its market due to restrictions on community activities during the pandemic, so it had to change the target market from students to housewives to stay afloat. The strategy is to process yogurt and kefir into mambo ice sticks that are more easily accepted by housewives. However, it is necessary to make good business development efforts so that products are more accepted by consumers such as products that have been produced with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards and have business legality to ensure product quality. The methods carried out in community counseling are in the form of training and mentoring approaches to ON SPOT, so that ON SPOT can develop business better and have business legality. Entrepreneurial devotion activities carried out, produce ON SPOT products produced with GMP standards so as to ensure products are safe to consume and have legality in the form of business licenses.

Abstract

Pengolahan air limbah secara biologis dilakukan dengan memanfaatkan simbiosis mutualisme antara mikroorganisme atau bakteri dekomposer dengan mikroalga. Penelitian ini bertujuan memperoleh perlakuan yang terbaik dari interaksi mikroalga Chlorella sp dengan bakeri dekomposer Agrobost pada peningkatan skala penelitian. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian berupa rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan 5 perlakuan dan 3 ulangan. Penelitian ini menggunakan mikroalga 800 ml/L limbah cair sagu dengan 5 perlakuan Agrobost (0%, 2%, 4%, 6%, dan 8% v/v). Data yang diperoleh dianalisis secara statistik menggunakan ANOVA dan DNMRT pada tingkat 5%. Sidik ragam menunjukkan konsentrasi Agrobost memberikan pengaruh nyata pada COD, BOD, DO dan pH. Perlakuan yang dipilih dari hasil penelitian ini adalah perlakuan P4 yaitu penambahan Agrobost 8%, menunjukkan tingkat reduksi tertinggi yang memiliki nilai COD 203,3 mg/L, BOD 122,3 mg/L, DO 5,89 mg/L dan pH 9,03.

Abstract

The tourism sector presents the potential of the region to become a tourist attraction that encourages regional economic growth and absorbs enormous human resources. An increase in resources needs to be done so that the area's potential can be enjoyed. The government needs government support through policies issued so that tourism is getting better and can improve the economy of the surrounding community. This research focuses on the policy of the provincial government and the Kampar Regency on tourism development, in this case focusing on the Belimbing Island Hamlet, Kuok Village, Kampar Regency. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of Riau Province Regional Regulations, especially in the Belimbing Island Tourism Village, is quite good.
