Abstract

Misunderstandings is often unavoidable in social media because users do not interact face-to-face. Non-verbal responses are often invisible. The emergence of several cases about unethical post are the basis of this research. The official account line named Draft SMS became an interesting virtual discussion room because it offers the advantages of expressive emoticon features; which is prominent to reduce the distortion of the message's meaning. Every interaction conducted in a virtual space should apply ethics as a guide in communicating to minimize these misunderstandings. The purpose of this study is to find out how the meaning of messages to communication actors when interacting in virtual space and communication ethics. The theory used in this research is Symbolic Interactionism and Communication Ethics. Using a qualitative approach with the Virtual Ethnographic method. The result that can be obtained is the meaning that occurs in the virtual interaction space shows that the need for a deeper understanding between the actors of communication so as not to cause misinterpretation of the messages sent by the sender so as not to cause divisions and ethical violations. Need control and self-control in each of them for the information received and then commented on.

Abstract

Abstrak Kemasan adalah salah satu penentu keberhasilan dalam penjualan produk terkait dengan informasi pesan yang ingin disampaikan,untuk itu visualisasi dibuat semenarik mungkin agar dapat menyasar segmen yang ingin diraih. Demikian halnya dengan susu kemasan kotak untuk anak-anak yang terpapar di meja elalase di pusat- pusat perbelanjaan. Dalam penelitian ini penulis melihat bagaimana susu kemasan kotak merek Indomilk Kids dan Boneeto rasa coklat dan rasa stroberi yang dikonstruksikan sedemikian rupa sehingga rasa coklat mewakili susu untuk anak laki-laki dan rasa stroberi untuk anak perempuan. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui bagaimana konstruksi identitas perempuan dan laki-laki divisualisasikan pada kemasan produk susu rasa coklat dan stroberi melalui penggunaan tanda pada aspek visualnya. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah semiotika menurut Roland Barthes dengan melihat pada aspek penggunaan warna dan ilustrasi gambar kemasan dengan menggunakan analisa teori konstruksi sosial. Hasil dari analisa ini adalah kemasan susu rasa coklat dengan visualisasi  warna dan ilustrasi gambarnya mewakili identitas anak laki-laki sementara kemasan rasa stroberi, visualisasi warna, ilustrasi gambar mewakili konstruksi anak perempuan yang feminin dan lembut.  Kata kunci: kemasan, susu, semiotika, identitas  AbstractPackaging is one of the determinants of success in the sales. The package contains an informational message that is delivered to the consumer, then the visualization of packaging made as attractive as possible in order to target the segment to be achieved. Likewise with the packaging of milk for children exposed in elalase shopping centers. In this study the authors look at how the packaging of brand Indomilk Kids and Boneeto taste of chocolate and strawberry flavors are constructed, that the chocolate-flavored milk represents for boys and  strawberry flavor for girls. The purpose of this study to find out how the construction of female identity and male visualized on product packaging chocolate and strawberry flavored milk through the use of signs on the visual aspect. The method used in this study is Roland Barthes’s semiotic theory by looking at aspects of color and illustration packaging by using analytical theory of social construction. The results of this analysis is the packaging of milk chocolate flavor  as the identity of the boys  and packaging stroberi flavor  represent the construction of  feminine and soft for the girls. Keywords: packaging, milk, semiotic, identity

Abstract

AbstrakDampak yang dirasakan akibat pandemi Covid-19 berpengaruh tidak hanya pada kondisi ekonomi namun juga psikologis khususnya pada anak-anak. Hal tersebut terlihat pada perkembangan proses belajar anak pada saat kegiatan belajar mengajar melalui media daring, seperti kesulitan berkonsentrasi, gelisah, dan rasa khawatir yang berlebihan. Kebutuhan untuk memotivasi anak-anak dalam menyerap pelajaran kembali menjadi sebuah hal yang mendesak ketika mereka akan kembali bersekolah secara tatap muka pasca pandemi nanti. Namun, sebelum menempatkan anak-anak ke dalam kondisi tersebut, perlu adanya sebuah program yang membekali anak-anak sebelum kegiatan berbasis kurikulum dilaksanakan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pengumpulan data dari penelitian program intervensi kembali bersekolah oleh Jhoni Warmansyah dan menggunakan metode perancangan dengan model SMCR (Source, Message, Channel, Receiver) yang kemudian menghasilkan media video infografis berbentuk motion graphic berupa sosialisasi dengan konten pesan membekali anak dalam mematuhi protokol kesehatan ketika kembali bersekolah. Animasi ini memberikan edukasi terkait pengenalan emosi anak pada masa pandemi dan juga memberikan pembekalan berupa demonstrasi tentang pematuhan protokol kesehatan pada anak-anak di saat mereka kembali bersekolah nanti. Kata Kunci: anak, animasi, motion graphic, pandemi, sosialisasi AbstractThe impact perceived due to the Covid-19 pandemic affects economic conditions and also psychologically, especially on children. This indication can be seen in the development of children's learning processes during teaching and learning activities through online media. Children sometimes feel difficulty concentrating, anxiety, and excessive worry. The need to motivate children to absorb lessons again becomes an urgent matter when they return to school face to face after the pandemic. However, before placing children into this condition, it is necessary to have a program that equips children before implementing the activities. This study uses data collected from the back-to-school intervention program research by Jhoni Warmansyah along with the SMCR model that later can produce infographic video media in the form of motion graphics. This animation provides education regarding the introduction of children's emotions during the pandemic and further provides instruction in the form of demonstrations on compliance with health protocols for children when they return to school later. Keywords: child, animation, campaign, motion graphic, pandemic

Abstract

AbstrakKota Semarang yang membidik sektor pariwisata, berupaya menampilkan identitas ikon kota yang lebih variatif tidak hanya Tugumuda dan Lawang Sewu. Kawasan Kota lama Semarang adalah salah satu prioritas. Instagram adalah media pilihan untuk kegiatan sosialisasi ikon kota dengan target bidik anak muda. Akun instagram @disbudparkotasemarang adalah akun resmi dinas kebudayaan Kota Semarang yang mengelola urusan wisata di kota ini. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa intensitas jumlah postingan, gambar yang diunggah, pesan captions yang ditulis mampu mempengaruhi benak khalayak demikian juga pada media Instagram. Teori Agenda Setting mengemukakan bahwa isi media dapat dibingkai oleh pengelola untuk tujuan yang diinginkan dengan pendekatan persuasif. Tujuannya ingin mengetahui isi unggahan, intensitas identitas ikon bangunan kawasan Kota lama yang kerap ditampilkan, teknik penulisan captions pada akun instagram @disbudparkotasemarang yang erat hubungannya dengan komunikasi persuasif untuk menarik kunjungan. Pendekatan penelitian kuantitatif dengan metode analisis isi atas unggahan yang diamati. Hasilnya adalah Gereja Blenduk merupakan ikon bangunan yang sering diunggah yaitu 60 kali unggahan. Tahun 2019 adalah tahun paling banyak menampilkan postingan terkait kota lama sebanyak 54 postingan. Unggahan foto pada 30 Desember 2019 paling banyak banyak disuka orang, terdapat 947 Likes. Teknik penulisan persuasif dengan pendekatan teknik tataan adalah teknik penulisan captions yang sering digunakan. Kata Kunci : identitas kota, komunikasi persuasif, Kota Lama Semarang AbstractThe city of Semarang, which is aiming at the tourism sector, seeks to display a more varied identity of city icons, not only Tugumuda and Lawang Sewu. The old Semarang city area is one of the priorities. Instagram is the media of choice for city icon socialization activities that target young people. The @disbudparkotasemarang account is an official account owned by the Semarang city culture office, which manages tourism affairs in the city. The urgency of this study is that the intensity of the number of posts, images uploaded, captions messages that written can affect the minds of audiences as well as on Instagram media. The Agenda Setting Theory presented that media content framed by managers for desired purposes in a persuasive manner. The goal is to find out the contents of the upload, the intensity of the identity of the old city building icon that often displayed, captions writing technique on the @disbudparkotas account now that is closely related to persuasive communication to attract visits. Quantitative research approaches with content analysis methods for observed uploads. The result, Blenduk church is a building icon that is often uploaded, which is 60 uploads. 2019 is the year were the most 54 posts posted in the city. The photo uploads on Dec 30, 2019, have the most likes, 947 Likes. Persuasive Writing Techniques with the approach to setting techniques are captions writing techniques that often used.  Keywords: city identity, old town, persuasive communication

Abstract

Mass media is one of the media publications to the public in the formation of the Image. Important positive images are formed to foster public trust. News in the newspaper media is still interesting to be appointed in an effort to build a positive image of educational institutions. In addition to targeting the masses of young people, higher education institutions also target parents who are still familiar with conventional media such as newspapers. The case study in this study was Dian Nuswantoro University (Udinus) and news in the Suara Merdeka newspaper. Suara Merdeka is interesting to be appointed because the local  central Java newspaper has amounts of printing and is still an alternative reading in the Central Java region where this segmentation is in line with Udinus segmentation which is domiciled in Semarang, Central Java.This study aims to analyze the theme of news that often arises about the institution, the frequency of occurrence of coverage in certain periodizations. Furthermore, this can be observed how the reporting of a media that has the power to shape the image of the institution. The method used is quantitative content analysis, which describes how the contents of the media using thematic and physical recording units are analyzed using the concept of public relations about media and the formation of the image of the institution. The result can be seen that there are 9 sections in Suara Merdeka which present Udinus related news, namely Semarang Metro rubric, Edukasia, Screen, Page 1, Business Economy, Around Young Tugu, Salatiga News, Youth Voice Expressions. Screen Rubric occupies the highest position in the news, which is 70.3%. For thetheme that is often reported, there are four types of reporting, namely news related to the world of academics (products), related to environmental responsibility (CSR), reporting related the environment and reporting relatedto the activities of communicating the activities of the institution.

Abstract

Semarang is the capital city of Central Java with high density characteristic and well known as a trading transit place. The Government of Semarang city is actively socializing the government‟s service programs through various media, one of theseis Videotron. There are various kind of social advertisements in Tugumuda Semarang videotron and the research shows that there are 4 social ads that are remembered by the society: Obeying The Traffic Rules, Tax Amnesty, Report to Hendy and Saber Pungli. This research aims to analyze the people‟s response towards those ads. This research uses quantitative approach, descriptive as the method, and Agenda setting theory.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Semarang  adalah  salah  satu  ibukota  provinsi  di  Jawa  Tengah  Indonesia  yang memiliki jumlah kepadatan penduduk yang cukup tinggi dan terkenal sebagai kota transit perdagangan. Pemerintah Kota Semarang saat ini tengah giat melakukan gerakan sosialisasi berbagai layanan kegiatan pemerintahan melalui berbagai media, salah satunya adalah videotron. Iklan Layanan Masyarakat yang disajikan di Videotron Tugumuda Semarang cukup beragam dan berdasarkan hasil penelitian terdapat empat ILM yang cukup diingat oleh masyarakat, yaitu: Tertib Berlalu Lintas, Amnesty Pajak, Lapor Hendy dan Saber Pungli. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji respon masyarakat terhadap empat Iklan Layanan Masyarakat tersebut. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif dan diulas dengan teori Agenda Setting.

Abstract

The process of forming a brand image to the public takes time. The process of increasing brand awareness can be done by optimizing school promotion media. MI Baiturahhim Semarang is a service partner who needs assistance in the process of optimizing the design and types of promotional media by considering the limitations of the partners. Twibbon can be one of the alternative promotional media that can be used in an easy way and through sharing media such as whatsapp status. Assistance is carried out using participatory communication methods with the initial stages of heteroglasia, dialogic communication, polyphony and the application of the carnival side. Observing the needs of partners in the early stages shows the heteroglasia side of the participants, namely the diversity of teacher origins and knowledge related to media and promotional design. Then in its implementation there is a dialogical communication with both the principal and the teacher. In the implementation stage, knowledge information about media and design is provided, providing hands-on practice with participants related to design and twibbon media so that they are included in the polyphony stage or understanding regarding the given topic. A serious but relaxed mentoring situation in delivering mentoring materials is a form of carnival stage in participatory communication. The results obtained, partners feel the benefits of knowledge about the use of various promotional media, recognize twibbon as a promotional media and design with photoshop software to be uploaded to twibbon media and distributed to whatsapp status.

Abstract

Management of promotional media is important for schools to attract the attention of stakeholders. Problems that arise in media management are limited competent resources and limited funds owned by the school. MI Baiturahim and MI Al Hikmah Semarang City are two schools in Semarang City that are still limited in managing promotional media. This community service activity was carried out for two days to meet the needs of school partners related to training in understanding persuasive communication and practical design tools for teachers as managers of school promotion media. The method of implementing activities is through FGD (Forum Group Discussion) which takes place before until the end of the activity, the delivery of theoretical material related to persuasive communication and classification of promotional media, and the practice of using Photoshop design tools. The results of the evaluation of the activities were an increase in the understanding of training participants related to conceptual communication, classification of promotional media and increasing teacher competence in applying design software in the form of Photoshop.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic that occurred at the end of 2019 had a significant impact on various sectors of activity in the world, including Indonesia. Various actions were taken as steps to overcome these problems. One of them is in the education and health sector for children, namely the psychological vulnerability of children and the level of depression that occurs due to the Covid-19 pandemic phenomenon. Through educational games, it is believed that it can help things related to child psychology. The purpose of this research is to create an educational game of snakes and ladders that can be used to help the trauma healing process in children due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. The research method used in this design is an explanatory descriptive method using the SMCR communication approach. Through this method, educational messages regarding the COVID-19 pandemic that children still have to deal with should be treated with caution and there is no need to be afraid as long as they adhere to health protocols. The results of this study are the creation of a prototype design of the snake and ladder game "PostCov" as an alternative new educational media as a form of innovation in delivering information as well as a form of play therapy in helping psychological problems that are vulnerable to occur in children.

Abstract

Plastic Surgery is a new huge phenomena in the cosmetics business world nowadays. There are many new ways to fix the appearance of a human. Augmentation Rhinoplast, Blunt Tip, Protruding Mouth Surgery, Forehead Augmentation, Jaw Bone Reduction, Cheek Bone Reduction and Epicanthoplasty are the most demanded process among the plastic surgery consumers. Even though more and more world celebrity did the plastic surgery, but it hasn’t changed most of people’s opinion about this whole process. They still consider it as taboo. South Korea is the best country when it comes to plastic surgery technology. To boost the selling of this taboo business, South Korea has made one step ahead in promotion by creating a show named ‘Let Me In’. It has been airing since 2012. Let Me In chooses patients who have health issues. The aim of this research is to depict how is ‘The Let Me In’ show frames plastic surgery business. The analyzes are performed by constructivism paradigm and Framing Analysis method. This research shows that ‘Let Me In’ add a new atribute for plastic surgery as product, put it as primary need of human beings and add emotional story in each episodes. Ada banyak cara yang dapat digunakan seseorang untuk dapat memperbaiki penampilan. Salah satunya dengan melakukan bedah plastik. Di antara banyak macam bedah plastik, beberapa di antaranya adalah Augmentation Rhinoplast, Blunt Tip, Protruding Mouth Surgery, Forehead Augmentation, Jaw Bone Reduction, Cheek Bone Reduction and Epicanthoplasty. Meskipun semakin banyak selebriti dunia yang melakukan proses ini, namun tidak cukup mengubah opini masyarakat akan fenomena bedah plastik sebagai hal tabu. Korea Selatan sebagai negara yang memiliki teknologi bedah plastik terdepan berusaha menjual bisnis tabu ini dengan membuat langkah baru dengan membuat acara tv berjudul ‘Let Me In’ dan telah ditayangkan sejak tahun 2012. Proses dari ‘Let Me In’ adalah dengan memilih calon pasien yang memiliki masalah kesehatan akan tubuh tertentu. Tujuan dalam penelitian ini adalah mengetahui bagaimana bedah plastik dibingkai dalam acara ‘Let Me In’. Analisa dilakukan dengan menggunakan paradigma konstruktivisme dan metode analisis framing. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa acara ini berhasil mempromosikan bedah plastik dengan menambahkan atribut kesedihan, mengubah operasi plastik sebagai kebutuhan primer dan membangun emosi penontonnya.
