Abstract

The present study is mainly aimed at comparing the use of Four Corners Strategy and Group Work Strategy on students’ speaking ability. It was encouraged by the low results of the students’ speaking ability. The research was carried out in a non-experimental form of comparative design that focused on quantitative approach. The total population of this study was 153 first semester students of State Islamic Higher College of Sultan Abdurrahman Kepulauan Riau in academic year 2017/2018. Meanwhile, the selected sample was 30 students (Class A) and 30 students (Class B). A speaking test was conducted after giving three meetings of treatment for both classes to measure their speaking ability. The results of the test were analyzed through compare means and t-test by using SPSS Statistics 20.0. As a result, it was found the mean score of the students taught by using Four Corners Strategy was higher than those taught by using Group Work Strategy. However, there was no significant difference between the use of Four Corners Strategy and Group Work Strategy on the students’ speaking ability improvement.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to develop supplementary speaking materials for Bahasa Inggris for grade X students of SMK Insan Mulia Yogyakarta and describe the efficacy of the supplementary speaking materials for grade X students of SMK Insan Mulia Yogyakarta. This research belongs to Educational Research and Development (R&D) using a simplified six steps of Borg and Gall’s model (1983). The findings show that the students’ goal of learning English is to communicate with the foreign costumers. Moreover, necessities of students are able to use English in their working field especially pharmacy and it helps students to pass job’s selection besides English is very important because the students are be able to use English in their working field especially pharmacy. more than that, the research finds that the students are lacking of vocabularies and speaking activities in the classroom and The students also lack of English speaking activities in the class because the books only provide reading. More than that, in learning English the students’ wants to learn English with their specific information about pharmacy. Some themes in the textbook were not relevant with the students’ want such as pharmacy, hospital and medicine. The efficacy of the supplementary speaking materials textbook serve the clear instruction and encourage the students in doing activities especially speaking, besides there are various activities in the textbook. This textbook is developed based on the Insan Mulia vocational pharmacy student’s need, lack, and want. Furthermore, the speaking materials as the product of this study provide additional learning resources for students.

Abstract

Pembelajaran daring atau online learning belum maksimal diterapkan di SMP IT Al Madinah dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris dengan tidak melibatkan adanya interaksi langsung selama pembelajaran online yang menggunakan aplikasi Google Classroom dan Whatsapp. Oleh karena itu, pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilakukan yang berjujuan untuk mengoptimalisasikan penggunaan E-Learning dalam pengajaran Bahasa Inggris melalui aplikasi Zoom Clouds Meeting sebagai pelayanan yang dilakukan oleh tim pengajar mata pelajaran Bahasa Inggris di sekolah SMP IT Al Madinah selama pembelajaran dari rumah (school from home) yang disebabkan oleh pandemi Covid-19. Total responden pada penelitian ini adalah sebanyak 2 (dua) orang guru Bahasa Inggris, 32 (tiga puluh dua) siswa perempuan dan 32 (tiga puluh dua) siswa laki-laki. Metode pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang dilakukan adalah Participatory. Langkah-langkah pengabdian ini dilakukan melalui 3 (tiga) tahapan: 1. Persiapan. 2. Implementasi dan 3. Evaluasi. Hal ini juga mencakup satu pertemuan untuk observasi dan pengumpulan data, dua pertemuan untuk mengajar dengan menggunakan aplikasi Zoom Clouds Meeting dan kuisioner dibagikan kepada siswa untuk menelusuri tingkat kepuasan siswa menggunakan Zoom Clouds Meeting selama proses belajar. Hasilnya ditemukan bahwa kebanyakan siswa termotivasi belajar menggunakan aplikasi Zoom Clouds Meeting karena mereka mampu berkomunikasi secara langsung kepada gurunya selama proses belajar. Oleh karena itu, dibuktikan dengan 92,4% siswa perempuan dan 82,6% siswa laki-laki setuju menggunakan E-Learning aplikasi Zoom Clouds Meeting pada mata pelajaran Bahasa Inggris.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to analyze  the effectiveness of education and economy through studentpreneurship approach at Ibnu Kasim Nahdlatul Wathan Bintan Islamic Boarding School. Method of this research is descriptive qualitative through the deep interview of the respondents until the information well obtained and reach the objective. Based on the results of the study show that the studentpreneurship approach (which empowers students in running the productive/entrepreneurial sector) is proven to increase the effectiveness of education and the economy at the Ibnu Kasim Nahdlatul Wathan Bintan Islamic Boarding School in terms of learning comfort, satisfaction with learning outcomes and ease of financing, meeting needs and achieving welfare.Keywords: effectiveness; education; studentpreneurship; economy

Abstract

Selama pandemi Covid-19, segala proses pembelajaran yang melibatkan interaksi langsung menjadi terbatas. Pembelajaran berbasis daring yang dilakukan dengan menggunakan smartphone sebagai media menuntut guru khususnya guru bahasa Inggris untuk menjadi kreatif dalam membuat video pembelajaran berbasis digital. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan guru dalam membat video pembelajaran digital berbasis smartphone mennggunakan aplikasi Kinemaster. Metode Participatory Action Research digunakan dalam pengabdian ini. Sebanyak 14 guru Bahasa Inggris Madrasah Aliyah se-Kota Tanjungpinang yang berasal dari MAN Tanjungpinang dan MA Miftahul Ulum Tanjungpinang terlibat sebagai responden. Tahapan kegiatan dimulai dari pengumpulan data, pelatihan penggunaan aplikasi Kinemaster dalam mengedit video pembelajaran serta pendampingan yang dilakukan sebanyak 2 kali. Dari hasil pengabdian ini dihasilkan 14 video pembelajaran yang menarik dan kreatif setelah diedit dengan aplikasi Kinemaster. Sebuah survey kepuasan dilakukan dengan hasil 92.95% responden peserta pelatihan dan pendampingan puas terhadap kegiatan ini.

Abstract

This study is conducted by the low of prosocial behavior of B Class of TK Tunas Harapan. This is shown in the attitude of most children who do not care about the condition of friends, often fighting over toys because they do not want to share with friends, laughing at friends who fall when they need help, teasing other friends inside or outside the classroom. Therefore, this study aims to describe the process and results of the implementation of traditional games to improve the prosocial behavior of children in B class of TK Tunas Harapan. This The method of this study is Action Research using Kemmis and Mc Taggart Classroom Action Research model consisting of four stages, namely planning, action, observation, and reflection. This study was conducted in 2 cycles. Each cycle consisted of 6 meetings. The data was analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. The results of this study indicate that there is an improvement on children's prosocial behavior through traditional games, as evidenced by the average pre-intervention prosocial behavior score 5,08, then it was improved on Cycle I that was 7,67 and on Cycle II that was 10,83 out of the maximum score 12.
