Abstract

Objectives: bullying is a serious problem which affected children negatively. The aim of this study was to explore predictor of bullying in elementary students in Kota Bandung. This is very crucial to know factors which contribute bullying cases in elementary students. By knowing predictors of bullying, we will be able to prevent bullying cases rising in children.Method: samples were 809 elementary students in Kota Bandung which chosen by stratified cluster random sampling from 11 elementary schools. There were 47.6% girls and 52.4% boysFindings: personal belief which support aggression was a predictor of physical, verbal, and psychological bullying. Conclusions: Father who rejected children was a predictor of physical bullying, while mother who rejected children was a predictor of psychological bullying. Unavailability of the father contributed twice bigger in the probability of the children being bullied.

Abstract

This study aims to examine how parental child-rearing styles contribute to subjective well-being of three groups: bullying victims, bullying perpetrator-victims, and those uninvolved in bullying. These groups were categorized based on the children’s self-reported bullying incidents. This study used quantitative approach with cross-sectional design. The participants were 781 4th to 6th-grader students (51.98% boys, 48.02% girls), consists of 329 bullying victims, 197 were both bullying perpetrators and victims, and 255 were uninvolved in bullying. Parental child-rearing styles were measured using The Egna Minnen Beträffande Uppfostran for Children (EMBU-C), while subjective well-being was measured using the Children’s Worlds Subjective Well-Being Scale 5 items (CW-SWBS5). Data were analysed using structural equation modelling. The results revealed that the warmth of fathers and mothers made significant and direct contributions to the subjective well-being of children uninvolved in bullying, where the father’s warmth negatively contributed, while the mother’s warmth positively contributed. Similar results did not appear in the subjective well-being of victims or perpetrator-victims.

Abstract

Remaja obesitas kerap menjadi korban bully. Self-esteem mereka yang rendah, menghambat mereka untuk dapat adaptif dengan lingkungannya, sehingga menjadi rentan untuk menjadi korban bully. Penelitian ini bertujuan utuk mengukur efektivitas pemberian Cognitive Behavior Art Therapy guna meningkatkan self-esteem remaja obesitas yang menjadi korban bully. Teknik intervensi yang digunakan untuk meningkatkan self-esteem pada remaja obesitas korban bully yaitu Cognitive Behavior Art Therapy yang  diadaptasi dengan menggunakan panduan art therapy tecniques and application. Melalui intervensi ini, subjek mengeksplorasi emosi dan kebutuhannya,  serta  melakukan restrukturisasi kognitif  pikiran negatif dan mengubahnya menjadi pikiran positif menggunakan media menggambar, agar mereka dapat adaptif dengan lingkungannya. Partisipan dalam penelitian ini adalah dua orang remaja obesitas korban bully yang mengalami kendala untuk dapat adaptif dengan lingkungannya, keduanya perempuan usia 15 tahun. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah one group pre-test post-test. Hasil penelitian dibahas secara deskriptif, karena jumlah partisipan yang hanya dua orang, tidak mencukupi untuk dilakukan uji hipotesis. Self-esteem diukur menggunakan Coopersmith Self-esteem Inventory. Pengukuran self-esteem sebelum dan sesudah intervensi menunjukkan bahwa Cognitive Behavior Art Therapy cukup efektif dalam meningkatkan self-esteem kedua remaja obesitas korban bully tersebut. Subjek pertama mengalami peningkatan skor self-esteem sebesar 42,31%; sedangkan subjek kedua mengalami peningkatan skor self-esteem sebesar 38,46%. Dengan meningkatnya self-esteem, remaja obesitas korban bully menjadi lebih mampu mengenali kelebihan dan kekurangan dirinya, memberikan penilaian positif mengenai dirinya, sehingga dapat adaptif dengan lingkungannya.  Kata kunci : Cognitive Behavior Art Therapy, Self-esteem, Obesitas, Korban bully

Abstract

There is an increase in the number of child workers in the village Cisolok. They did not continue their education into junior high school because they saw the success of other children who had worked previously and generally have a better life. There is a pattern in them that lead them to choose to work. This pattern is called a value system.  The results showed that the majority of children who work have a system of self-enhancement values. While the variable type of work, a combination of the type of value enhancement and Conservation Self is a combination of the most becomes a pattern in the child in determining which jobs will be endured. Then the variables of gender, boys dominated Self-transcendence value types in determining behavior. While the combination of types of value Openness to change and conservation share dominance in the value system that underlies the behavior of boys.

Abstract

The Indonesian research team participating in the Children’s Worlds international project has used a new context-free multi-item scale named CW-SWBS (Children’s Worlds Subjective Well-Being Scale). This psychometric instrument was previously never used in Indonesia. This study aimed to validate the adapted Indonesia language version for a representative sample of children who are elementary students in West Java province (N = 22,616), ranging from 8, 10, to 12-year-olds. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was used to test the fit of the psychometric scale, and multi-group CFA was used to check the comparability between answers given by gender and school types. Result findings showed that the instrument displays excellent fit for measuring life satisfaction in Indonesian children using five items, instead of the six original items. Answers to the items of the CW-SWBS by gender and school types were demonstrated to be comparable, suggesting that there was no different answering style between individuals in these studied groups.

Abstract

Setiap tahun terjadi peningkatan jumlah keluarga miskin di Indonesia. Pemerintah telah melakukan upaya untuk mengentaskan kemiskinan ini melalui pemberian dana bantuan yang bersifat insidental. Bantuan ini tidak memberikan manfaat banyak bagi pengentasan kemiskinan justru menciptakan mental pengemis. Seharusnya, bantuan dana diarahkan untuk peningkatan kualitas SDM melalui pendidikan gratis dan peningkatan pelayanan kesehatan. Tingginya angka kemiskinan terjadi karena rendahnya kualitas SDM. Anak-anak tidak bersekolah karena orang tua tidak mampu membiayai pendidikan mereka. Hal ini semakin memperpanjang rantai kemiskinan, karena kelak anak-anak ini juga akan sulit mendapatkan pekerjaan yang memadai karena tidak memiliki pendidikan yang layak. Pengentasan kemiskinan tidak semata-mata dilihat dari faktor ekonomi saja, namun juga dari faktor sosio kultural. Keluarga merupakan institusi terkecil dalam masyarakat. Melalui keluarga, pemerintah dan swasta dapat membantu mengentaskan kemiskinan melalui peningkatan kualitas SDM. Kaum ibu dapat diberdayakan sebagai pemutus mata rantai kemiskinan. Ibu dapat membantu suami menjadi pencari nafkah, sehingga pendapatan keluarga menjadi lebih tinggi. Namun, ibu harus disiapkan melalui pelatihan agar memiliki keterampilan kerja yang baik sehingga dapat berwirausaha ataupun bekerja dengan kualitas kerja yang baik. Dana insidental yang biasanya diberikan pemerintah untuk membantu rakyat miskin, dapat diarahkan untuk pengadaan pelatihan keterampilan bagi kaum ibu. Ibu bekerja berarti menjalankan peran ganda yang tentunya tidaklah mudah. Karena itu, ibu membutuhkan mitra dalam berbagi pelaksanaan pengasuhan anak. Ketersediaan childcare dan parenting club akan sangat membantu ibu untuk dapat menjalankan peran gandanya dengan lebih baik. Pemerintah dapat bekerjasama dengan swasta dan perguruan tinggi dalam pengelolaan childcare dan parenting club ini.

Abstract

AbstractThis study describes the adaptation of the Child and Youth Resilience Measure-Revised (CYRM-R) for use in Indonesia. The process of adaptation involved several steps. The first step was translating and back-translating the measurement. The next step was conducting focus groups to explore the legibility of the translated measure. After this, the validity and the reliability of the translated version was tested, as well as an exploration of data. Samples were130 elementary school children (57.7% female) aged 10-13. Data were collected in 2 randomly chosen elementary schools in Kota Bandung. The analyses confirmed the validity and reliability of the measure (alpha = .902). The results indicated that the CYRM-R had been adapted successfully and is a robust measure for exploring the social-ecological resilience of children and youth in Indonesia. The CYRM-R can be used for research and practice in the Indonesian context.Keywords: resilience; child; measurement; cross-cultural; CYRM-R; Indonesia

Abstract

IPM (Indeks Pembangunan Manusia) menjadi indikator keberhasilan pembangunan. Indeks pendidikan menjadi salah satu komponen dari IPM yang diukur melalui indeks rata-rata lama sekolah dan indeks melek huruf. IPM Indonesia tergolong rendah dibandingkan negara-negara di dunia. Di Jawa Barat sendiri, terdapat beberapa kabupaten yang menunjukkan indeks pendidikan yang rendah dilihat dari indeks rata-rata lama sekolah dan indeks melek huruf. Kondisi ini tentu sangat memprihatinkan, karena sesungguhnya pendidikan merupakan hal yang sangat menentukan keberhasilan suatu bangsa agar dapat bersaing di era globalisasi.  Pendidikan merupakan hak bagi setiap individu dan sejatinya dilakukan sejak usia dini karena usia ini adalah masa emas perkembangan anak. Melalui pendidikan, anak akan mengembangkan potensi dirinya dan mendapatkan stimulasi melalui pendekatan teori multiple intelligence. Pemerintah mencanangkan pentingnya Pendidikan Anak Usia Dini (PAUD) pada Hari Anak Nasional  23 Juli 2003. Namun optimalisasi program PAUD belum terselenggara dengan baik.Beberapa masalah berkaitan dengan belum optimalnya pelaksanaan PAUD adalah kurangnya investasi dari pemerintah daerah agar PAUD dapat terlaksana dengan baik, PAUD lebih berkembang di perkotaan dan kurang berkembang di pedesaan, masih rendahnya kesadaran orang tua tentang pentingnya PAUD, program PAUD yang sudah berjalan masih belum optimal karena belum mampu menstimulasi anak secara tepat.Untuk itu, pemerintah daerah dapat menjalin kerjasama kemitraan dengan perguruan tinggi untuk dapat melakukan upaya optimalisasi PAUD guna meningkatkan IPM di Jawa Barat. Dengan kerjasama kemitraan ini diharapkan dapat membantu meningkatkan indeks rata-rata lama sekolah dan indeks melek huruf, sehingga IPM di Jawa Barat akan meningkat.

Abstract

There are cities/districts in West Java which have high number of human trafficking cases. Human trafficking victims experienced psychological distress due to violence they have experienced. The aim of this research is to describe resilience on human trafficking by using theory from Michael Ungar. This research used descriptive method with purposive sampling technique. Samples taken are 33 women, age 15-23 years old, mostly graduated from junior high school (16 persons = 49%). Data was collected using resilience questionnaire CYRM-28 which created by Michael Ungar. Research findings showed 69.7% of victims have high resilience. In socio-ecological dimension, which is relationship with caregiver (mean = 3.96) and context/sense of belonging (mean = 3.96) have higher mean compare to individual dimension (mean = 3.79). In socio-ecological dimension, psychological caregiving (mean = 4.15) and spiritual (mean = 4.10) are two important indicators which help individuals to become resilient. In individual dimension, personal skill (mean = 3.85) is the important indicator which must be owned by individuals to become resilient.
