Abstract

A long with the increasing of market demand on XYZ company product, it will be opened a new design sub line in Surabaya. The purpose of this article is to give working station design suggestion and design sub line working element for production capacity 450 unit/day and measuring efficiency on every working station. That is why, it need a follow up research to get the description of the problems. The problems can be identified after that and then start with data collection that consist of company general data, working element data, and working measure data that collect from direct measurement using stopwatch. After the data is collected, the next step is process data to be use as a basic planning in developing working station.

Abstract

Learning chair for preschool in the market such as tends to pay  less attention to physical condition or the size of children body, the function is not used optimally and the shape of the design is monoton, as well as uninteresting. The development of a learning chair hopefully can create conformity for user so that it can create the effective learning process, means the learning chairs not prevent the chlidren are to their activities. Therefor, a reserach on how to develop a learning chair product concept for preschool by paying attention to the aesthetic and ergonomic aspect is urgently conducted.

Abstract

Globalization affects not only economic sector, but also education sector especially higher education. It changes the mindset on managing university as higher education executant which is responsible in producing science and technology. As an organization focusing on human capital, a university should have ability in knowledge management. This research aims to determine the conditions of knowledge management on privateuniversities in Jakarta, and to propose the implementations of knowledge management which could create value. The study was conducted on 184 private universities in Jakarta with descriptive statistical analysis methods. The results showed that the conditions of knowledge management on the universities have not been able to create value for the universities concerned. So that, the implementations should be linked to the provision of knowledge management components, such as the provision of information technology, the process management, and theprovision/improvization on human capital capability in managing knowledge management systems.

Abstract

As a company which implements differentiation strategy, PT. Adi Cipta has achieved competitive advantage in using capabilities through implementing organization culture and quality management. But, for about last 5 years, the company’s performance seems to be stagnant and having no significant improvement. This research aims to analyze the effect of capability, which is Organization Culture and Quality Management, towards the Competitive Advantage and its effect to the company’s performance. Data are taken from observation result, questionnaire, and interview with company’s holder and the decision maker, which then be analyzed with regression method. The research result shows that Organization Culture and Quality Management affect on Competitive Advantage, which affects to the company’s performance.

Abstract

Boarding house around Binus University campus which is the informal sector continue flourishing and developing in line with the development of Binus University. Investors continue to invest in this business with a capitalization of billions of rupiah. With the increasing demand from year to year and the utility room that is always high, in July 2010 this boarding house business had to deal with Binus Square, a new business unit of Binus which is a special exclusive residential for Binus University students with a capacity of 2500 people.This research aims to find out are there still investment opportunities of boarding house amid the establishment of Binus Square through the creation of competitive advantage. Data are retrieved through questionnaires which are circulated to residents of boarding houses that served Binus Access and analyzed by using descriptive statistics.The result showed that there are still opportunities to open up boarding houses around Binus University with a focus on improving facilities and services that lead to private services.

Abstract

Well-managed tourism will be capable of contributing to the increase in local revenues and be capable to attract investors and open up jobs. Lack of socialization of the tourism potential in a region becomes an obstacle for investors to get involved in it. This research aims to identify the business opportunities of tourism industry and potential of tourism industry in South Jakarta. Data are obtained from the Suku Dinas Pariwisata Jakarta Selatan and analyzed with descriptive statistical methods. The results show that Setiabudi District has an opportunity for hospitality business; Mampang Prapatan, Pasar Minggu, and Kebayoran Baru District have opportunities for recreation and entertainment business.

Abstract

Business conditions change quickly, pushing companies to change the way they compete. The Era of knowledge-based economy provides challenges for collaboration, innovation, adaptation, technological mastery and market, as well as intellectual assets management company. Relying on existing core competencies does not guarantee the company able to create competitive advantages. To face the challenges of existing companies must be able to manage the knowledge that having through the application of Knowledge Management (KM).Similarly with colleges based on human capital, the need to manage organizations that encourage the formation of cultural knowledge creation, knowledge sharing, and knowledge utilization through the application of Knowledge Management. With Knowledge Management, recognition quality of a lecturer is not based only on seniority but on the extent to which lecturers are acts as a general user, specialist, solution communities, as well as professional.

Abstract

PT Cipta Lestari Packindo is a manufacturing company engaging in the manufacture of cardboards. In its operational activities, the company experiences problems like defects or faults in the cardboard production process. Therefore, there’s a need for continuous improvements so that the company won’t suffer either from loss or cost of quality that will appear in the future. To achieve that, the seven tools of quality approach were used in an attempt to repair and reduce the level of errors and the defects in production. Results of this research found there are eight types of the cardboard defection occurred during the productions. By using pareto diagram, research found three major problems that took the biggest roles: pieces that are not aligned with the rotary engine, pieces that are not aligned with the coak engine, and missing in the printing process. In the analysis process of the reduction of defective productions within the three major problems, there are six factors causing the defections: men, machines, methods, measurements, materials, and environments—with men and machines as the biggest contributors. By doing continuous improvements, the level of the defective production will decrease eventually.

Abstract

Global challenges of the current causes increasing competition among national and international businesses. Under these conditions, the company realizes the importance of quality and efforts to enhance competitiveness by doing improvements consistently and continuously in order to meet customer and market needs. This study aims to examine the effect of the implementation of ISO 9001 quality management system onemployee performance, and the moderating effects of job satisfaction and employee commitment to the relationship between the application of ISO 9001:2008 quality management system on employee performance. The method used to analyze is Partial Least Square (PLS). The results show that the application of ISO 9001:2008 quality management system affects performance of employees with employee satisfaction and commitment as moderating variable that affect the relationship between the application of ISO 9001:2008quality management system on employee performance. Both variables, moderating employee satisfaction and commitment have positive parameter estimation, so that when the satisfaction and commitment of employees increase, it will give effect to the improvement of the implementation of the ISO 9001:2008 quality management system on employee performance.

Abstract

Article present the importance of industrial design on handphone product that today it becomes one of most popular communication tools. The research used qualitative descriptive method on handphone product that most likely used by Faculty of Economics students of Bina Nusantara University. The research result shows that the role of industrial design in handphone product development has higher interest in fulfilling theergonomic needs compare to the role in fulfilling the aesthetic needs.Â
