Abstract

Kabupaten Purbalingga memiliki potensi unggulan diantaranya adalah pariwisata, pertanian, manufaktur, kerajinan tangan, makanan olahan, perdagangan dan jasa. Permasalahan yang dihadapi diantaranya biaya bahan baku yang tinggi,  penanganan bahan baku belum maksimal, rendahnya pemanfaatan bahan baku lokal, kapasitas produksi terbatas, pengetahuan yang rendah tentang teknologi tepat guna, jangkauan pemasaran masih sedikit, potensi pasar belum dimaksimalkan, tidak tersedia sistem penjualan yang baik, peralatan masih sederhana, keterampilan masih terbatas, belum adanya pembukuan akuntansi dan laporan keuangan, belum memiliki status badan hukum yang jelas dan kesulitan mendapatkan akses modal. Melalui metode pelatihan dan penyuluhan beberapa kegiatan yang dilaksanakan diantaranya pelatihan teknologi batik printing malam dingin, pelatihan serut bambu menggunakan mesin, pelatihan pewarnaan remasol, penyuluhan penanganan bahan baku, membangun kemitraan antar kelompok mitra, dan kegiatan pendampingan yang terus menerus, untuk meningkatkan kualitas dan omset mitra menjadi meningkat.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to obtain descriptive information about the problems and problem solving in learning listening comprehension. The researcher uses descriptive qualitative research and investigates the students’ problems in listening comprehension at the fourth semester and the steps to overcome their problems. There are 23 students at the fourth semester of English Education Study Program Peradaban University in the academic year 2018/2019 as the sample. In collecting the data, the researcher uses questionnaire and interview as the instruments.The researcher finds the most problems faced by the fourth studentsare lack of concentration, native speaker speaking speed, unfamiliar words, and lack of effort to understand each word.The solution offeredto solve those problems are focus and concentrate while listening class, concentrate on what is heard, and write things that are important when listening to material spoken by native speaker; find the meanings of unfamiliar words, look at the dictionary to find out difficult words, check words that are not clearly heard in dictionary, memorize vocabulary, and read English text and listen to English audio; and familiarize the students with the rulers of pronunciation in order to help them hear the different forms of rapid natural speech and ask them to imitate native speakers’ pronunciation. It concludes that learning information about the problems and problem solving at the fourth semester are because of the fact that their learning outcomes are still far from being standard. Therefore, problem solving in listening comprehension learning is expected to minimize the problems faced by students of the fourth semester of English Education Study Program Peradaban University in learning process so that they get satisfying learning outcomes.
YouTube Animated Movies as an Alternative Media to Enhance Students’ Listening Skills Dede Nurdiawati

Abstract

These objectives of this research are to investigate whether using YouTube animated movies as an alternative media enhances students’ listening skills and to find out what attitudes the students have towards learning through YouTube animated movies as an alternative media. The participant was thirty-two students of Junior High School. The collecting data use questionnaire, observation, and interviews. The results were: (1) there were twenty-five students (78.13%) who strongly agreed that the students wanted their teachers to use more animated movies on YouTube as one of the alternative media in the classroom; (2) there were two students’ expectation of the teachers’ role in teaching and learning listening skill by using YouTube animated movies in the classroom: twenty-nine students (90.63%) who strongly agreed that the teachers became facilitators and mentors who helped students to learn when teaching and learning listening process took place in the classroom; and there were twenty-three students (71.88%) who strongly agreed that the teachers walked around the class to observe the process of the students’ work assignment; (3) More than twenty-five students agreed that YouTube animated movies could help the students in studying English especially in learning listening; and (4) It also found that majority of the students had higher and good attitude in teaching and learning listening process by using YouTube animated movies. It can be concluded that the use of YouTube animated movies can enhance students’ listening skills. Besides, it is recommended that YouTube should be considered as an effective instructional medium for enhancing the content learning of the students and as an important teaching resource in the classroom.

Abstract

The COVID 19 pandemic has had a big effect on Indonesia's small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), including changes in people's buying power, turnover, SME output, and numerous other unprofitable changes, especially in Purbalingga SMEs. This community service is aimed at increasing the competitiveness of the superior products of Purbalingga Regency through increasing the value of products in Small and Medium Enterprises (UKM) of Batik, Bamboo, and Sculpture Crafts. The program was carried out by counseling and mentoring methods, by utilizing technology efficiency, training in the use of tools, and optimization of partnerships. The results achieved include the successful implementation of new strategies to survive in new normal conditions, starting from changing the function of the product, carrying out the collaboration between batik, bamboo and wood craftsmen, and more intensive online marketing, collaborating, implementing creativity and innovation that increase product value, so that the turnover and quality of superior products increases and has high competitiveness.
