Abstract

The presence of Muslim clerics (kiai) in Langitan Islamic boarding school (pesantren) Widang Tuban is very unique to be taken into account, especially from their duties and function. They have provided direction or input in curriculum preparation, created an evaluation system, formulated institutional rules and organized the life of the entire pesantren community as well as their role as community leaders. This study focuses more on the efforts of kiai in developing multicultural Islamic education for considering that this pesantren has undergone changes and renewal but is not inseparable from traditional roots which are proven to be laden with multicultural educational values. In reality, this kind of pesantren has produced many students and graduates who have inclusive, moderate and tolerant viewpoints. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection is caccried out through such methods as observation, interviewes and documents. The results of this study showed that the efforts of the kiai in developing multicultural Islamic education in Pesantren Langitan Widang Tuban are: firstly, building a multicultural Islamic education epistemology based on the Al-Qur'an and Hadith. Secondly, sharpening the values of multiculturalism in curriculum. Thirdly, fostering students' spiritual growth (spiritualization of students).

Abstract

NU has explicitly voiced the importance of Muslims within and outside the country to reconsider and rethink the concept of Islam Nusantara in dealing with radicalism and terrorism. It is such a historical consciousness that could be seen clearly from the roles played by the religious social organization in materializing the teachings of Ahlussunnah wal jamaah (Aswaja). On this stand, NU has been capable of brilliantly articulating religious teachings that are at least based on both textual and contextual aspects. The success of NU in propagating the concept of Islam Nusantara is due to the role of its prominent clerics and Muslim scholars (ulema) for skillfully being able to sow the seeds of Islamic teachings in a peaceful and courteous means in the face of any threats posed by the radical and extremist groups. That is why, NU is committed to doing its best services for the country and even taking part in internationalizing its moderate and tolerant teachings of Islam.

Abstract

The writer is interested in raising the title "The Implementation Model of Kitab Alala Learning in Al Falahiyah Islamic Elementary School Pesantren Langitan Widan Tuban: An implementation model" for being motivated by a fact that the number of new students in MI al-Falahiyah behave less patiently in dealing with exams and in learning the Qur'an. Pesantren Langitan Widang Tuban is one of the old Islamic boarding schools organizing its education system informally. This Islamic boarding school instills education littered fully with both religious values ​​and the nation's noble ones. The purpose of this study is to find out the implementation model of the learning of Kitab Alala in MI al-Falahiyah Pesantren Widang Tuban. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection is carried out through such methods as observations, interviews and documents. The results of the study show that the implementation model of the learning of Kitab Alala in al-Falahiyah Islamic Elementary School Pesantren Langitan Widang Tuban is through four models, namely the so-called mauidhoh, habituation, the qudwah (exemplary), targhib and tarhib.

Abstract

The spiritual leadership of the kiai (cleric) can at least be characterized through three characteristics that are related to one another, namely iman, Islam and Ihsan. Different from conventional leadership, the characteristics of the kiai's spiritual leadership certainly emphasize these three dimensions as a form of fulfillment of spiritual vision dealing with self-servitude to Allah SWT. While the material and technical dimensions are more complementary. So, as far as the spiritual dimension is the main factor in an organizational or social system, the spiritual leadership of the kiai has a theological, philosophical, psychological and sociological reasons.
