Abstract

Paraparesis atau paresis merupakan suatu kondisi ditandai oleh lemahnya gerak badan, atau hilangnya sebagian gerakan badan atau adanya gangguan gerakan. Kucing domestik berumur ±4 bulan, berjenis kelamin jantan, ras kucing domestik campuran, warna rambut putih bercampur coklat muda, dengan berat badan 1,5 kg mengalami kelemahan pada kedua kaki belakang, tidak bisa berjalan disertai dengan kondisi tubuh yang tampak lemah serta lesu, dan tidak memberikan respon rasa sakit saat dilakukan penekanan pada regio femur dan digit sehingga menyebabkan ketidakmampuan pada kedua kaki belakang untuk mengangkat tubuh bagian belakang dengan sempurna sehingga menunjukkan adanya gangguan pada sistem saraf yang mempengaruhi anggota gerak dan muskuloskeletal. Hasil foto x-ray menunjukkan bahwa tidak adanya tulang yang fraktur dan pada organ visceral juga tidak menunjukkan perubahan ataupun kelainan yang signifikan. Namun terdapat suatu kondisi radiopaque dari perkembangan osteofit pada tulang belakang diantara L6-L7 sehingga menunjukkan diagnosa yaitu paraparesis kaki belakang. Terapi paraparesis kaki belakang pada kucing dengan metode elektroakupunktur dilakukan di titik BL-23, BL-25, BL-32 dan ST-36 pada tubuh kucing selama 4 minggu dengan durasi setiap terapi selama 15 menit yang dilaksanakan seminggu sekali selama 4 minggu. Kucing diberikan terapi Neurobion® injeksi 0,15 cc intra muscular setelah setiap terapi akupunktur dan diresepkan neurobion® sebanyak seperdelapan tablet satu kali sehari. Kesimpulannya yaitu metode terapi elektroakupunktur dengan titik akupunktur BL-23, BL-25, BL-32 dan ST-36 pada kucing yang mengalami paraparesis kaki belakang menunjukkan perkembangan yang membaik setelah dilakukannya terapi selama empat kali.

Abstract

ABSTRAK. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui jenis bakteri Gram negatif pada uterus sapi Aceh yang mengalami kawin berulang. Dalam penelitian ini digunakan enam ekor sapi Aceh betina yang terdiri atas tiga ekor sapi fertil (K1) dan tiga ekor yang mengalami kawin berulang (K2, repeat breeding, RB). Pengambilan sampel bakteri dalam uterus sapi dilakukan dengan menggunakan swab steril yang disimpan dalam media nutrient broth (NB) untuk isolasi dan identifikasi jenis bakterinya. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, baik K1 dan K2, positif terinfeksi bakteri dan diperoleh 16 isolat bakteri di antaranya enam isolat berasal dari K1 dan sepuluh isolat berasal dari K2. Dari 10 isolat bakteri Gram negatif yang ditemukan pada sapi RB terdiri atas Escherichia coli (E. coli) (30,00%), Pseudomonas sp. (30,00%), Enterobacter sp. (20,00%), Klebsiella sp. (20,00%). Disimpulkan bahwa bakteri yang paling banyak menginfeksi uterus sapi RB adalah E. coli dan Pseudomonas sp. (Isolation and identification of gram negative bacteria in uterine Aceh cow with repeat breeding) ABSTRACT. The study determined the type of Gram negative bacteria of the Aceh cattle uterus which has been diagnosed with repeat breeding. The study was conducted on six Aceh cows consists of 3 normal fertile cows (K1) and 3 repeat breeding cows (K2, RB). The bacteria in uterine samples were collected using sterile swab, kept into nutrient broth (NB) for further isolation and identification of bacteria. The result of the study showed that the total of 16 isolates of bacteria was observed in all cows : 6 isolates from group K1 and 10 isolates from group K2. A total of 10 isolates from cattle with repeat breeding consist of Escherichia coli (E. coli) (30.00%), Pseudomonas sp (30.00%), Enterobacter sp (20.0%), and Klebsiella sp (20.0%). It can be concluded that the most bacteria that infect uterine cows with repeat breeding are E. coli and Pseudomonas sp.

Abstract

ABSTRAK. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh pemberian hormon PGF2α sebelum koleksi terhadap peningkatan kualitas semen dan level testosteron sapi Aceh di UPT. Hewan Coba Universitas Syiah Kuala. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dari bulan Januari sampai dengan Maret 2019. Data hasil pemeriksaan kualitas semen dianalisis secara deskriptif. Dalam penelitian ini digunakan satu ekor sapi Aceh jantan sebagai kontrol dengan 2 perlakuan, yaitu P1 (tanpa pemberian PGF2α sebelum koleksi) dan P2 (pemberian PGF2α 30 menit sebelum koleksi) dengan dosis 25 mg tiap perlakuan. Setiap perlakuan dilakukan sebanyak lima kali dan dilakukan secara bergantian setiap minggunya. Rata-rata volume (ml); konsentrasi (106 sel/ml); motilitas (%), viabilitas (%); abnormalitas (%); dan level testosteron (ng/ml) pada P1 vs P2 masing-masing adalah 5,2±1,30 vs 5,2±0,97 (P0,05); 145,4±36,58 vs 172,8 ±46,27 (P0,05); 63,87±6,44 vs 75,05±0,08 (P0,05); 69,30±0,22 vs 75,05±0,08 (P0,05); 16,90±0,08 vs 10,46±0,09 (P0,05); dan 28,07±14,37 vs 24,19±6,11 (P0,05). Disimpulkan bahwa pemberian PGF2α 30 menit sebelum koleksi dapat meningkatkan kualitas spermatozoa tetapi tidak dapat meningkatkan konsentrasi testosteron.  (Case study the effect of giving pgf2α before the collection of the quality of Aceh cattle semen) ABSTRACT. This study aims to determine the effect of giving PGF2α hormone before collection to improve the quality of Acehnese semen in UPT. Hewan Coba Syiah Kuala University. This research was conducted from January to March 2019. Data on semen quality examination were analyzed descriptively. In this study, one Aceh cattle was used as a control with 2 treatments, namely P1 (without administration of PGF2α before collection) and P2 (administration of PGF2α 30 minutes before collection) at a dose of 25 mg per treatment. Each treatment was carried out five times and carried out alternately every week. The results showed that the average volume of cement (ml) and pH P1 and P2 respectively 5.2 ± 1.30 and 5.2 ± 0.97, and 6.6±0.55 and 6.5 ± 0.50. While the average concentration of spermatozoa (106 cells / ml) in P1 and P2 were 145.4 ± 36.58 and 172.8 ± 46.27 respectively. The average percentage (%) of progressive spermatozoa motility, circularity, non motility, viability, and abnormalities in P1 and P2 respectively: 63.87 ± 6.44 and 73.63 ± 9.42, 11.34 ± 3, 70 and 9.0 ± 7.01, 24.79 ± 4.04 and 17.37 ± 4.44, 69.30 ± 0.22 and 75.05 ± 0.08, 16.90 ± 0.08 and 10.46 ± 0.09. It was concluded that administration of PGF2α 30 minutes before collection can increase the quality of spermatozoa but cannot increase the concentration of testosterone.

Abstract

The study aims to determine the effect of diluent concentration Adromed® against the quality of spermatozoa of simeulue buffalo following freezing process. This study uses a completely randomized design (CRD) with 3 treatment groups. Group 1  used AndroMed® diluent 15%; Group 2 with  AndroMed® 20%; and, Group 3 with AndroMed® 25%. Each group was repeated 3 times. Quality of spermatozoa assessed includes the motility and viability of spermatozoa. The data on the quality results  were analyzed by analysis of variance (ANOVA)  in one direction followed by Duncant test. The average percentage of motility after freezing were found in the group P1, P2 and P3 respectively is 32.60 ± 3.27 %; 41.69 ± 4.14 %  and 47.58 ± 3.11%; spermatozoa viability is 36.56 ± 3.42%; 47.77 ± 4.81 % and 51.38 ± 3.89%. Statistical analysis showed that the concentration of diluent AndroMed® significantly affected (P 0.05) the motility and the percentage of live sperms. The percentage of live sperm motility and the live sperms did not differ significantly between G1 with G2 treatment groups and both are significantly different (P0.05) compared with group G3. AndroMed®  concentration affects the quality of simeulue buffalo spermatozoa after freezing. AndroMed® concentration of 20% and 25% were improved the quality of buffalalo spermatozoa following freezing compared with that with AndroMed® 15% .

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of 10% Jatropha salve (Jatropha curcas L. )    to inflammation reaction cutaneous wound healing in mice (Mus musculus ) in the inflammatory phase. This experiment used 9 male mices, weighing 25-40 grams and age 2-3 months old, were divided into three treatment groups, each treatment consisting of three mices. The wound were made along 2 cms in the back area. Wound therapy was carried out  twice a day for 3 days.  Group KI was administered  and given by yellow vaseline, KII was given 10% Jatropha salve, and KIII was given gentamicin salve. The parameters measured are the increase in the number infiltrations of inflammatory cells,  neovascular, and re-epitelization. All quantitative data were measured using ANOVA and continued with Duncan Test, the qualitative data were presented descriptively by showing the results of observation under a microscope. The statistical test on the infiltrations of inflammatory cells and neovasculars parameter 10% Jatropha salve group significantly different (P0.05) compared to KI and KIII group. Histopatologycal observations indicated the 10% Jatropha salve could be reduce the infiltrations of inflammatory cells, increase neovasculars and re-epitelization percentage. According to the result can be concluded the 10% Jatropha salve can accelerate the inflammation phase cutaneous wound healing in mice.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of superovulation induction through Pregnant Mare’s Serum Gonadotropin (PMSG) and Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG) injection to increased birth number in Campbell’s hamsters (Phodopus campbelli). This study used 10 unpregnant female Campbell’s hamster, aged 4-6 months, weighing of 25-30 grams. Hamsters were divided into K1 and K2, each consist of five hamsters. K1 injected with 1 ml physiologic NaCl, while K2 intraperitoneally injected with PMSG and hCG in 5 IU. Mating was held after injection. Male and female hamsters were put in one box with ration of 1:1. The observation of vagina plug was done in order to confirm whether the mating successes or not. The average amount of fetus birth through superovulation on K1 and K2 were 3.40±1.3 and 7.80±1.1, respectively. In conclusion, the superovulation induction using the combination of PMSG and hCG increase birth number on Campbell’s hamsters.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between the intensity of estrus and estradiol concentrations during insemination on local cattle. Ten cows were divided into two groups with each group consist of five cows with category: aged 5-8 years, weight 150-250 kg, clinically healthy, and not pregnant. Plasma samples for examination of the hormone estradiol concentrations were collected during insemination time from jugular vein. Prior to the collection of plasma samples, whole cow were estrus synchronized using prostaglandin F2 alpha (PGF2α) and Ovsynch protocol. The PGF2α were injected twice at intervals of 11 days. Examination of estradiol hormone concentration was performed with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) using estradiol commercial kits. The results of this study indicate that statistically there is no relationship between estrous intensity and estradiol concentration.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the value of erythrocyte, hemoglobin, and hematocrit of white rats (Rattus norvegicus) infected with Trypanosoma evansi and given ethanol extract of Malacca leaves (Phyllanthus emblica). The animals used in this study were 20 male rats. All rats were randomly divided into 5 treatment groups, each group consisting of 4 rats. The negative control group (K0) without T. evansi infection and without malacca leaf ethanol extract, the positive control group (K1) was infected with T. evansi without giving malacca leaf ethanol extract, the treatment group K2, K3, K4 were infected with T.evansi and were given ethanol extract Malacca leaf with doses of 300mg/kg BW, 600mg/kg BW, and 900mg/kg BW, respectively. The extract was given orally for 3 consecutive days. On the fourth day, blood was drawn for all groups through the orbital vein with a hematocrit pipette after administration of 0,2 ml Ketamin. Then the erythrocyte, hemoglobin, and hematocrit values were calculated using a hematology analyzer. The mean (± SD) erythrocyte values (106 / µl) were 7.66 ± 0.10, respectively; 2.65 ± 0.24; 4.56 ± 0.91; 6.58 ± 0.10; 5.86 ± 0.27; hemoglobin (g / dl) were 13.64 ± 0.26, respectively; 4.67 ± 0.13; 8.38 ± 0.72; 11.25 ± 0.58; 9.55 ± 0.56, the hematocrit (%) were 40.97 ± 0.67, respectively; 28.27 ± 0.76; 30.44 ± 0.48; 37.70 ± 0.40; 34.06 ± 0.17. The results showed that administration of ethanol extract of malacca leaves at a dose of 600mg/kg BB had a significant effect in maintaining the value of erythrocytes, hemoglobin, and hematocrit of white rats that had been infected with Trypanosoma evansi.

Abstract

This study aims to know the effect of estrus synchronization using ovsynch method on local cow pregnancy rate. This study used 10 local cows without pregnant status and clinically healthy. All cows were divided into 2 treatment groups. Cows in group I (K1) were synchronized estrus using 5 mg/ml PgF2α intramuscularly with multiple injection patterns with intervals of 10 days. Group II (KII) was synchronized by ovsynch protocol, initiated with injection of 1ml GnRH on day-0. On the 7th day, the whole cows in K II were injected with 2 ml PgF2α then followed by re-injected with 1 ml of GnRH on the 9th day. Artificial insemination was performed 24 hours after GnRH last injection. The data were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that 3 cows in group I were diagnosed pregnant (60%), whereas in group II, 4 cows werediagnosed pregnant (80%). In conclusion, the estrus synchronization with ovsynch protocols provide a higher pregnancy rate than the conventional estrus synchronization.Key words: synchronization, ovsynch, GnRH, PgF2α

Abstract

The experiment was conducted to compare estrous performance between and estradiol level kacang and Nubian goats estrous induction by prostaglandin F2 alpha (PGF2α). Eight female goats were divided into two groups, groups 1 (K1) consisted five Nubian goats and group 2 (K2) included three kacang goats with criterias as follows: age 1.5-3.0 years old, not pregnant, at least two months postpartum, and healthy clinically. All goats were estrous synchronized by double injection 7,5 mg PGF2α intramuscularly with 10 days interval. Goats that appeared estrus symptoms were mated naturally to a male goat. Determination of estrous intensity was performed using scoring method. Blood samples were taken at the first time the goats were mated (day 0). The measurement of estradiol concentration was done by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) method. Data of intensity, onset, duration, and estradiol level were analyzed using t test. The results showed that the rate of intensity, onset, duration, and estradiol level of estrous at KI vs KII were 2.08±0.52 vs 1.85±0.67, 56.00±34.11 vs 40.80±18.20 hours, and 24.00±26.15 vs 33.80±9.10 hours, and 103.51±42.49 vs 67.95±38.44 pg/ml (P>0,05). It can be concluded there was no difference of estrous performance and estradiol level between kacang and Nubian which estrous induction with PGF2α. The relationship between the intensity of estrus estradiol level in the Nubian goats was 0.995 while the kacang goats was 0.890.
