Abstract

Aspergillosis merupakan penyakit yang disebabkan oleh jamur Aspergillus sp. yang dapat menyerang puyuh muda secara akut dan sebagai penyakit menahun pada puyuh dewasa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengisolasi dan mengidentifikasi Aspergillus sp. pada kantung hawa puyuh (Coturnix japonica). Sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah 35 kantung hawa puyuh yang tidak produktif lagi (afkir) diambil secara acak. Isolasi dan identifikasi Aspergillus sp. dilakukan sesuai dengan menggunakan metode Thompson. Sampel dicuci dengan aquadest steril berisi antibiotic gentamicin selanjutnya ditanamkan pada media Sabouraud’s Dextrose Agar (SDA) kemudian diinkubasikan pada suhu kamar selama 3-7 hari. Pertumbuhan koloni Aspergillus sp. diamati morfologinya secara makroskopis dan mikroskopis. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil pemeriksaan menunjukkan bahwa Aspergillus sp. dapat diisolasi dan diidentifikasi pada 24 dari 35 sampel kantung hawa. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa 68,57% sampel yang diperiksa positif terinfeksi Aspergillus sp. dengan persentase masing-masing spesies Aspergillus fumigatus 40%, Aspergillus flavus 25,7%, dan Aspergillus niger 17,1%.

Abstract

Burung trucukan (Pycnonotus goiavier) merupakan salah satu burung liar yang sering dipelihara karena kicauannyayang merdu. Infeksi ND dapat berupa infeksi yang akut atau kronis yang menyerang burung trucukan dan jenis burunglainnya. Burung liar merupakan salah satu sumber virus ND yang dapat menyebarkan virus ke unggas peliharaan.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui titer antibodi terhadap penyakit tetelo pada burung trucukan liar. Sampel yangdigunakan adalah serum darah dari 50 ekor burung trucukan liar. Parameter yang diamati adalah titer antibodi dalamserum berdasarkan metode Hirst menggunakan uji Haemagglutination Inhibition (HI) untuk melihat titer antibodi. Untukmenghitung titer virus maka uji Haemaglutination (HA) dilakukan sebelumnya. Untuk memastikan titer antigen yangdigunakan adalah 4HAU dilkukan juga back titrasi sehingga didapatkan nilai virus optimal yang akan dipakai pada uji HI.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan 45 dari 50 sampel (90%) mempunyai antibodi positif terhadap ND, dengan titer berkisar 21-29. Berdasarkan hasil yang diperoleh dapat disimpulkan bahwa 90% burung trucukan di Kabupaten Aceh Besar sudahpernah terpapar ND, tetapi hanya 80% yang memiliki titer antibodi yang dapat melingdungi terhadap serangan virus ND.Oleh sebab itu dapat disimpulkan bahwa burung trucukan liar dengan titer antibodi yang protektif berarti sudah pernahterpapar virus ND sebelumnya akan berpotensi sebagai pembawa virus yang dapat ditularkan ke unggas peliharaanmasyarakat di sekitarnya.

Abstract

This research aimed to investigate the inhibition activity of ethanolic extract of binahong leaf (Anredera cordifolia (Ten.) Steenis) on Staphylococcus aureus. Bacteria were obtained from the Microbiology Laboratory of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Unsyiah, isolated from the honey bear (Helarctos malayanus) wound area. This experiment was conducted with re-identification of the bacteria before treatment. Afterward, the bacteria were treated with ethanolic extract of binahong leaf with a concentration of 20%, 40%, 60%, and 80% by using the disc diffusion (Kirby-Bauer) method. The data were analyzed descriptively by measuring and comparing the inhibition zone among treatments. The results showed that the treatment could inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus, however, the inhibition zone was narrow with a mean diameter of 20% was 6.8 mm, 40% was 7.4 mm, 60% was 8.2 mm, and 80% was 8.1 mm. It can be concluded that ethanolic extract of binahong leaf had comparative inhibition activity toward Staphylococcus aureus.

Abstract

This study was aimed to determine ratio of bursa body weight in ALPU chickens. The samples used were 72 ALPU chickens consisting of 36 males and 36 females aged 1-18 weeks. This study was observed in every week by weighing the weight of ALPU chickens as much as 2 males and 2 females, then chickens slaughtered. After that, Fabricius's bursa on each chicken was separated from the chicken body part and weighed using a digital balance sheet. The results of this study showed that the maximal ratio in male ALPU chickens was 0.0032 at the age 2 weeks, while the maximal ratio in female ALPU chickens was 0.0036 at the age 4 weeks. From the results of the analysis using t-test was concluded that bursa body weight ratio in male and female ALPU chickens during starter to grower group was significantly different (p0.05). The grower to finisher group was not significantly different (p0.05).

Abstract

ABSTRAKMengkudu (Morinda citrifolia L.) merupakan tanaman khas daerah tropis termasuk Indonesia, yang buah, daun, biji dan akarnya sering digunakan dalam pengobatan tradisional, di antaranya sebagai antibakteri. Penelitian ini dilakukan bertujuan mengetahui kepekaan ekstrak daun mengkudu (Morinda citrifolia L.) terhadap pertumbuhan Staphylococcus aureus. Esktrak daun mengkudu dibagi menjadi 3 konsentrasi yang berbeda yaitu 25%, 50%, 75% dengan penicilin sebagai kontrol positif dan akuades sebagai kontrol negatif. Uji daya hambat dilakukan sesuai dengan metode Kirby-Bauer dengan 3 kali ulangan. Hasil rata-rata zona hambat ekstrak daun mengkudu terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus aureus pada konsentrasi 25% yaitu 6,35 mm, pada konsentrasi 50% yaitu 6,73 mm, dan pada konsentrasi 75% yaitu  6,86 mm. Kontrol positif antibiotik penicilin diperoleh rata-rata 14,28 mm dan kontrol negatif akuades diperoleh rata-rata 0,00 mm. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak etanol daun mengkudu memiliki zona hambat sedang terhadap pertumbuhan Staphylococcus aureus sesuai dengan CLSI.Kata kunci: antibakteri, daya hambat, ekstrak daun mengkudu, Staphylococcus  aureus.   ABSTRACT Noni (Morinda citrifolia L.) is one of the most common plants in tropical areas, including Indonesia, which fruit, leaves, seed and root, are used in traditional treatment, for an example  antibacterial. The aims of this research is to know the sensitivity of noni leaf extract (Morinda citrifolia L.) against Staphylococcus aureus growth. Noni leaf extract was divided into 3 different concentrations 25%, 50%, 75%. Penicilin used as control positive and Aquadest used as control negative. The inhibition effect test was performed in accordance to Kirby-Bauer method with 3 replications. The average of inhibition zone of noni leaf extract on Staphylococcus aureus at 25% concentration was 6,35 mm, at concentration of 50% was 6,73 mm, and at concentration 75% was 6.86 mm. The averaged positive control of penicilin antibiotics was 14,28 mm and negative control of aquadest was 0,00 mm. It can be concluded that the ethanol extract of noni leaves had fair activity to inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus according to CLSI.Keyword : antibacterial, inhibition effect, noni leaf extract, Staphylococcus aureus.

Abstract

Antibiotic resistance has become a global problem, this happens because strains of bacteria in the body are resistant to antibiotics, one of which is caused by improper use.  This study aims to determine the resistance of Salmonella sp. isolated from broiler chickens to antibiotics. The method used for this study is the Kirby Bauer disc diffusion method. The research samples were eight isolates from broiler chickens collected by the Laboratory of Microbiology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Universitas Syiah Kuala. This study used antibiotics amoxicillin, streptomycin, chloramphenicol, ciprofloxacin, gentamicin, and tetracycline. The data obtained are processed descriptively. The results showed five isolates (62.5%) showed multidrug resistance and very high levels of resistance to antibiotics from eight samples tested, namely tetracycline 87.5% (7/8), chloramphenicol 75% (6/8), amoxicillin 62.5% (5/8), and streptomycin 62.5% (5/8).   Antibiotics that are still sensitive are gentamicin 62.5% (5/8) and ciprofloxacin 50% (4/8).  Therefore, it can be concluded that Salmonella sp.  has been resistant to several types of antibiotics.
