Abstract

Abstract

AbstractThis research was aimed to study the immunomodulatory effect of ethanol extract of pineapple (Ananas comosus L. Merr) peel on white male mice with carbon clearance method. Animals  were divided into 5 groups: Group 1 was given tween 80 1 % v/v;Ggroup 2 was given meniran extracts; Group 3, 4 and 5 were given  ethanol extracts of pineapple peel with a dose of 125 mg/kg BW, 250 mg/kg BW, and 500 mg/kg BW,respectively, for 6 days orally. On the 7th day the animals were injected with carbon suspension 0.2 ml/20g BW at the tail vein. Blood was taken at 5th and 15th minutes using capillary pipe from the animal’s orbital retro vein, then it was diluted with 4 ml of 0.1% b/v sodium carbonate and measured its absorbance at 675 nm using visible spectrophotometer. The ethanol extract of pineapple peel showed immunomodulatory effect where the best dose was 250 mg/kg BW.  Keywords                : biological response modifiers, immunomodulatory, pineapple peel

Abstract

AbstractHeat Shock Protein (HSP) is a protein that is produced because of the Heat Shock Response (HSR). HSR is required as a response of cells to a variety of disorders, both physiological as well as from the environment. Increased levels of HSP70 heart muscle is due to anaerobic physical activity. Physical activity causes the body to increase body temperature, heat stress and latihan.Tujuan this study is to analyze the influence of anaerobic physical activity performed every day on levels of Heat Shock Protein (HSP) 70 wistar rat cardiac muscle. Based on the results of the study, the group showed increased levels of HSP anaerobic heart muscle than the comparison group. Keywords : anaerobic physical activity every day , HSP70 , body temperature, rattus novergicus wistar rat.

Abstract

Diarrhea is still a major problem in children's health, especially in developing countries like Indonesia.. One of alternative medicine that have potential as antibacterial is pandan wangi leaves. This study aims to knowing effect of pandan wangi leaves ethanol extract as an antibacterial against. The design of this study was experimental. The antibacterial activity was determined by agar diffusion method with concentration extract respectively 40%, 50%, 60%, cotrimoxazole as positive control. The result of the research shows that etanol extract of pandan wangi leaves has the antibacterial effect to Bacillus cereus ATCC 11778 with inhibition capability 7,90 mm, 8,90 mm, 10,13 mm, 12,3 mm. Enterococcus faecalis ATCC 29212 8,10 mm, 9,26 mm, 10,20 mm, 12,2 mm. Shigella dysentri ATCC 11835 8,56 mm, 8,80 mm, 11,90 mm, 13,3 mm. Vibrio cholerae ATCC 14033 8,16 mm, 9,10 mm, 11,20 mm, 12,2 mm. Escherichia coli ATCC 25922 8,16 mm, 9,63 mm, 11,85 mm, 13,0 mm. Extract concentration that giving the most optimal inhibition capability to bacteria that causes diarrhea is concentration 60%.

Abstract

Antifungal activity test of avocado seed extract (Persea americana Mill) against fungi that cause dermatophytosis skin disease, namely Trichophyton rubrum ATCC 28188, Epidermophyton floccosum ATCC 50266 and Microsporum canis ATCC 32699. Phytochemical test results of avocado seeds contain phenolic compounds, saponins, alkaloids, flavonoids. The antifungal activity test of ethanol extract of avocado seeds used the agar diffusion method, with a concentration of 26,25%, 48,75%, 75%, and the positive control used was ketoconazole and ethanol distillate negative control. The results showed that the diameter of the zone of inhibition against the fungus Trichophyton rubrum ATCC 28188 with an inhibition zone diameter of 7.5 mm, 9.8 mm, 12 mm, against the fungus Epidermophyton floccosum ATCC 50266, the inhibition zone diameter was 7.4 mm, 9, 7 mm, 11.7 mm and against fungi Microsporum canis ATCC 32699 the inhibition zone was 8.4 mm, 10.1 mm, 13.4 mm. It can be concluded that the ethanol extract of avocado seeds has antifungal activity against. Trichophyton rubrum ATCC 28188, Epidermophyton floccosum ATCC 50266 and Microsporum canis ATCC 32699 The greatest antifungal activity was against Microsporum canis at a concentration of 75% with a diameter of 13.4 mm in the strong category
