Abstract

Korosi merupakan proses spontan yang terjadi pada logam karena pengaruh lingkungan. Terbentuknya korosi dipermukaan logam tidak bisa dicegah, tetapi bisa diperlambat proses terjadinya. Salah satu usaha untuk memperlambat laju korosi adalah dengan melakukan pelapisan (elektroplating) pada permukaan logam tersebut. Telah dilakukan proses elektroplating kuningan pada baja karbon rendah ST-37  dengan variasi waktu 10 menit, 15 menit, 20 menit dan 25 menit serta variasi suhu larutan elektrolit 40°C, 45°C, 50°C, dan 55°C. Karakteristisasi lapisan dilakukan dengan menggunakan mikroskop stereo dan kekerasan dengan uji keras Vicker. Hasil pengujian menunjukan bahwa peningkatan waktu dan suhu berbanding lurus  dengan ketebalan dan kekerasan yang dihasilkan. Nilai ketebalan dan kekerasan terendah ditemukan pada 40°C dengan waktu 10 menit 11,323 μm 182,4 VHN, dan nilai rata-rata ketebalan dan kekerasan tertinggi diperoleh pada 25 menit dengan suhu 55°C yaitu 29,333 μm dan 218,8 VHN.  Dari hasil yang diperoleh dapat disimpulkan bahwa peningkatan waktu dan suhu yang diberikan berbanding lurus dengan ketebalan dan kekerasan. Nilai ketebalan dan kekerasan tertinggi diperoleh pada 25 menit dengan suhu larutan 55°C.

Abstract

Starting from the events on the island of Sumatra that often experience forest fires and result in the emergence of smog that can disrupt the respiratory tract in living things, especially in humans. Thus resulting in the emergence of diseases such as ispa, shortness of breath, and other diseases. This is caused by polluted air because the concentration of oxygen (O2) is only a few percent compared to air containing carbon dioxide (CO2), carbon monoxide (CO), sulfide (S2) and other combustion substances. The smoke sensor is useful for activating the fan on the smoke filter tool automatically, the Fan functions as a smoke suction to be forwarded to the room where the smoke is filtered. The workings of this tool are, when the sensor reads the smoke content on the tool more than 140 ppm, then the relay connected to the fan will activate and make the fan spin. After the fan or fan lives, then the smoke will be sucked into a tube, where the tube has a small hose at the end, then the smoke is released at the end of the hose, where the end of the hose is soaked in a container containing water, where the air will be filtered. The results of the filter are sucked back by the fan or fan in another room. If the smoke level has fallen below the threshold of 140 ppm, the fan will automatically die.

Abstract

In this day and age people decorate homes with flower pots and many models of flower pot place creations. Usually the place to put flower pots in the form of a circle and to make a circular iron is made manually requires energy and a long time. A bending machine is needed to make concrete iron circle creations. The aim of this research is to produce a rotary bending machine that is able to work efficiently in forming a concrete steel circle. The method used in this study is a practical method that is doing machine design and continued with the manufacture and field testing. The working principle of this machine is to use a motor that functions to move the Gearbox and continue the rotation to the shaft, then the shaft rotates and the bending mall rotates and makes the steel concrete come round and circular. The conclusion is (a). This concrete steel rotary bending machine has dimensions of 550 mm x 550 mm x 1000 mm with an electric motor drive power source (b). The results of the bending process using a concrete steel rotary bending machine are far more efficient than doing manual bending

Abstract

Due to the weaknesses of some existing areca peelers, some modifications were made. Modifications were made to the gear stripper, the addition of the inlet funnel, the gear stripper cover, and the exit funnel. The purpose of this modification of the design of the areca nut peeling machine is to make it easier for areca-producing farmers to peel their skin. Engine design specifications, using a 1/2 HP motor with a speed of 1500 rpm, 2-inch, and 10-inch pulleys, and a capacity of 5.16 kg/hour. The result of this modification is stated to be able to perform stripping with a large capacity. This machine is expected to be able to meet the needs of manual areca nut peelers to increase productivity.

Abstract

The problem of Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has not stopped. It was necessary to implement the Covid-19 protocol to avoid spreading, one of which is to wash hand regularly using and circulating water. Based on these reasons, it was still necessary to develop automatic hand washing equipment which is currently a primary need in public places, offices, and educational facilities. This study aims to modify the automatic sink using the Arduino Uno R3 microcontroller as a data processor and Ultrasonic HC-SR04 as a sensor; testing the function of the tool, namely automatic soap and water faucet, hand dryer, piezoelectric buzzer as an air level alarm, by utilizing the results of AC condensation as an water source. The results of this automatic sink modification can meet Covid-19 standards and can be used by all groups, especially schools and offices that have started to be active, so that with this tool it can reduce the spread of Covid-19. In addition, it is that the source of water from the condensation can be used as an alternative to water to save the current increasing use of PDAM water.

Abstract

Kelompok Tani Cahaya Baru Nagari Persiapan Lubuk Gadang Barat Kecamatan Sangir Kabupaten Solok Selatan telah mendapat penyuluhan dari tim pengabdian masyarakat Politeknik Negeri Padang. Sosialisi yang diberikan adalah tentang bagaimana cara membuat pupuk kompos dari limbah pertanian. Permasalahan yang ditemukan adalah petani sering kekurangan pupuk untuk memupuk tanamannya. Sehingga untuk memenuhi kebutuhannya harus membeli pupuk dengan harga yang mahal. Solusi yang ditawarkan untuk mengatasi permasalahan yang terjadi pada kelompok tani tersebut adalah memberikan penyuluhan cara membuat pupuk kompos dari limbah pertanian. Dengan memberikan penyuluhan ini diharapkan kelompok tani dapat menyediakan pupuk alami untuk kebutuhan petani di desa Bumi Ayu umumnya dan kelompok tani Cahaya Baru khususnya. Kontribusi mendasar pada khalayak sasaran adalah setelah program pengabdian ini diharapkan petani mampu membuat pupuk kompos yang dapat digunakan sebagai pupuk alam untuk mengatasi ketergantungan terhadap pupuk kimia, sehingga dapat menjaga kesuburan tanah di lahan pertanian.

Abstract

To maximize the function of the mosque as a place of worship, a community service team has carried out together in the form of counseling and donations. This is done because mosques have a very strategic function in Islamic society, both as places of worship and as media centers for holistic development of the people. This service team is trying to optimize the function of the mosque as a center for community empowerment activities. This community service is motivated by the facilities and infrastructure of the Nurul Hikmah mosque which are still inadequate for the needs and comfort of worship, such as: carpets, loudspeakers, mosque clocks, towers and pulpits. Even the implementation of mosque management has not been so evenly distributed so that it has not been accompanied by social welfare efforts for the community. The purpose of this service is to find out the condition of the social welfare of the community. Community Service is the third dharma of higher education tri dharma. Meanwhile, in analyzing the data, the writer uses data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and verification. The results of this service showed that the condition of community welfare is experiencing stability with the implementation of programs carried out by mosque administrators to help community welfare, then the implementation of mosque management in an effort to improve community social welfare is by having a clear and transparent management function which makes the function of the mosque better.
