Abstract

The community service activity is conducted in the form of a counseling about the use of GeoGebra-aided modul in integral application learning. This activity aims to add knowledge about the use of GeoGebra-aided modul in mathematics learning especially integral application learning to mathematics teachers. The implementation method consists of four stages namely preparation, action, evaluation and report. This one day activity were attended by 26 mathematics teachers from elementary school, junior and senior high school and vocational school in Balikpapan at the 7th Floor G Building of Balikpapan University. The presented material consists of the use of GeoGebra-aided modul in integral application topic namely area of plane regions and volume of solids of revolution. This community service activity run well and smoothly and in accordance with the planning. Based on the carried activities, it is expected for mathematics teachers to create learning modules that appropriate with their students’ conditions in the class and integrate various multimedia to support their mathematics learning process.

Abstract

The existence of students' negative views on mathematics causes anxiety and procrastination. This study aims to determine the effect of mathematical anxiety and academic procrastination on mathematics learning outcomes in class VIII SMP Negeri 7 Balikpapan. The research approach used is a quantitative approach with survey method. The population in this study were all eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 7 Balikpapan, as many as 362 students and a total sample of 72 students. The sampling technique uses cluster random sampling. Instruments used in this study was questionnaires and test. The data analysis technique used is multiple regression analysis with simultaneous test (F test) and partial test (t-test). The results obtained a significant value of 0,000 < 0,05, it could be concluded that there was a significant influence of mathematics anxiety and academic procrastination on mathematics learning outcomes of VIII grade students of SMP Negeri 7 Balikpapan. The results of the study showed that mathematics anxiety had a significant effect on mathematics learning outcomes with a significance value of 0,023 < 0,05. Then, academic procrastination has a significant effect on mathematics learning outcomes with a significance value of 0,012 < 0,05.

Abstract

AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat pengaruh kemampuan verbal, penyesuaian diri, serta kemampuan verbal dan penyesuaian diri secara bersama-sama terhadap prestasi belajar matematika siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian ex-post facto menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif. Populasi berasal dari 180 siswa kelas XI IPA SMA Negeri 8 Balikpapan. Penelitian ini menggunakan rumus Slovin dan mendapatkan 125 siswa yang terlibat sebagai sampel penelitian. Instrumen penelitian ini menggunakan tes dan angket. Data hasil penelitian dianalisis menggunakan regresi linear sederhana dan berganda. Hasil uji t menunjukkan bahwa nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,000 (Sig. < 0,05), sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh kemampuan verbal terhadap prestasi belajar matematika siswa. Selanjutnya, hasil uji t menunjukkan bahwa nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,297 (Sig. > 0,05), sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa tidak terdapat pengaruh penyesuaian diri terhadap prestasi belajar matematika siswa. Kemudian, hasil uji F menunjukkan bahwa nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,000 (Sig. < 0,05), sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh kemampuan verbal dan penyesuaian diri secara bersama-sama terhadap prestasi belajar matematika siswa. Selain itu, faktor kondisi seperti perubahan kebiasaan siswa yang awalnya belajar secara tatap muka di sekolah berubah menjadi pembelajaran secara online dapat mempengaruhi pencapaian prestasi belajar matematika siswa karena membutuhkan kesiapan dan penyesuaian diri yang matang pada siswa maupun pendidik. AbstractThe research aims to know the effect of verbal ability, self-adjustment, verbal ability and self-adjustment simultaneously toward student’s mathematic achievement. This research is ex-post facto research using a quantitative approach. The population came from 180 students of XI grade science class SMA Negeri 8 Balikpapan. This research used the Slovin formula and obtained 125 students involved a sample. This research used test and questionnaire as the instrument in this research. The data were analyzed using simple and multiple regression. The t-test result showed a significance value of 0,000 (Sig. < 0,05), so it could be concluded that there was an effect of verbal ability on students’ mathematic achievement. Next, the t-test result showed a significance value of 0,297 (Sig. > 0,05), so it could be concluded that there was no effect of self-adjustment on students’ mathematic achievement. Then, the F-test result showed a significance value of 0,000 (Sig. < 0,05), so it could be concluded that there was an effect of verbal ability and self-adjustment simultaneously on students’ mathematic achievement. Other than that, the condition factors such as changes in the habits of students who initially learn face-to-face at school turning into online learning can affect student achievement in mathematics learning because it requires mature readiness and adjustment in students and educators.

Abstract

The online learning policy during the COVID-19 pandemic presents its challenges in implementing the cooperative learning model in schools. This study describes the use of the breakout room zoom feature in the cooperative learning model, especially Student Facilitator and Explaining (SFE) and the Number Head Together (NHT) types. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The data sources of this research are two students who carry out teaching practice in schools. Data were collected using observation and documentation. The results of data analysis show that the implementation of the SFE and NHT cooperative learning models by utilizing the breakout room feature is very good. In addition, the effectiveness of the SFE and NHT cooperative learning models by utilizing the breakout room feature is included in the very effective and effective criteria.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan pencapaian kemampuan pembuktian matematis siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran Missouri Mathematics Project (MMP) dan yang memperoleh pembelajaran konvensional. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuasi eksperimen dengan desain penelitian kelompok kontrol non-ekuivalen. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VII pada salah satu SMP Negeri di Kota Balikpapan tahun ajaran 2013/2014. Sampel untuk penelitian ini diambil dari dua kelas yang terdiri dari satu kelas sebagai kelas eksperimen yang memperoleh pembelajaran Missouri Mathematics Project (MMP) dan  satu kelas sebagai kelas kontrol yang memperoleh pembelajaran konvensional dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Analisis data dilakukan terhadap rata-rata skor post-test antara dua kelompok sampel. Analisis data kemampuan pembuktian matematis menggunakan uji non parametrik Mann whitney. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan nilai Sig. (1-tailed) < α = 0,05 sehingga H0 ditolak. Hal ini berarti kemampuan pembuktian matematis siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran Missouri Mathematics Project (MMP) lebih baik daripada siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran konvensional.

Abstract

The purpose of the socialization of student development is to find out about the cognitive development of students and the development of students socially. The socialization was held at Melati Anugerah Indah Housing RT 49, Sepinggan Village, Balikpapan City, East Kalimantan Province. The target/target of the socialization is the residents of Melati Anugerah Indah Housing with the criteria of parents who have elementary school children. The socialization was carried out by conducting interviews, questions and answers and documentation. Technically, the team held a socialization activity in one of the residents' houses. Participants in the socialization included parents with 20 elementary school-aged children. Based on the results of interviews and questions and answers, the results showed that (1) the cognitive development of students is a process of developing knowledge experienced by students related to the ability to think logically in solving a problem faced by students. The knowledge experienced by students can be continuously honed with a continuous process of training and learning both at school and outside of school, with the hope that when students face a new problem, students are able to solve it. (2) the social development of students is the process of developing student interactions with other friends in order to establish kinship and kinship relationships so that students can get along with each other.

Abstract

Self-regulated learning is the ability to direct and control oneself in thinking and acting and not feeling emotionally dependent on others. This study aims to determine the elements of online mathematics learning that cause students' self-regulated learning to strengthen and weaken. This type of research is a quantitative description with a population of all students of class VIII which is then selected by respondents as many as 67 students. The data was obtained through the distribution of questionnaires with google form. Based on the research conducted, it is known that the three elements of online mathematics learning that strengthen students' self-regulated learning are efforts to find learning resources, re-examine assignments before they are collected, and have targets to be achieved in the learning process. Meanwhile, the three elements of online mathematics learning that weaken students' self-regulated learning are group learning, help from friends when solving problems, and studying when there are exams.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine whether the perception of self-discipline has an influence on students' mathematics learning outcomes. This is cross sectional survey research with quantitative approach. The research sample was randomly selected from the population (N = 64) and 55 students were chosen based on the Isaac & Michael table. Questionnaires were used to collect data on perception of self-discipline and passed the validity test and reliability test (Cronbach's Alpha coefficient = 0.71; considered as high reliability). Whereas, the data of mathematics learning outcomes were obtained from daily mathematics exams. Simple linear regression statistical analysis was used to proceed the data and the result showed that 7 students had perception of self-discipline in low category, 35 students in medium category, and 13 students in high category. Also, the perception of self-discipline has a positive linear relationship with mathematics learning outcomes and contributes 31.8% of the variance of mathematics learning outcomes (R = 0.564; R2 = 0.318; β1 = 1.679; p < 0.05). This research recommended to improve students’ self-discipline in enhancing students' mathematics learning outcomes.
