Abstract

INDIE FILM EDITING TRAINING AT ARMIDALE ENGLISH COLLEGE OF SOREANG, BANDUNG REGENCY. A film can be seen as a medium of mass communication because in a film there are elements of entertainment, education, and information. In fact, a film can be an advocacy media that encourages a social change. In the film production management, there are major label and indie label concepts, where the indie label focuses on film content and filmmakers' freedom of expression. The stages that must be passed by a filmmaker in producing a film starts from the stages of development, pre-production, production, post-production, and distribution. The post-production stage is the most important stage that determines whether a film is classified as a quality film or not because it involves the final touch of a film. Therefore, the author decided to make a community service program in the form of post-production indie film training (audio-visual editing) at Armidale English College, Soreang District, Bandung Regency. The purpose of this training is to provide practical understanding and skills in the field of audio-visual editing to the trainees. The various implementation methods used in this training included media communication methods (audio-visual), lecture methods, interactive methods, pre-test and post-test methods, and simulation methods. The results achieved after the training was carried out were that the trainees experienced increased understanding and skills in the context of indie film post-production, especially in the process of audio-visual films editing. Abstract

The study is titled implementation of environmental communication based on the social institution in coping with the flood in the Citarum Watershed Upstream. Citarum river pollution and silting are currently in a state of particular caused by forest encroachment in the upstream, land use, household waste, animal husbandry, industry, offices, etc, so when the rainy season caused the occurrence of floods. In addition, these conditions have resulted in water quality being unfit to be utilized, both for drinking water, washing, bathing, irrigation for agriculture and so on. The actuator environment seeks to restore the Citarum Watershed upstream conditions by building public awareness so they may want to change their attitudes and behavior, one of them by not disposing of waste into the river. The selected communities are those that are incorporated in a social institution in the region. The purpose of the research is to find out about the types of institution, the reason for utilizing the institution, and the role of the environment actuator communication in a social institution. The methods used in this research is descriptive with qualitative data to describe the various realities of communication activities related to the environment by leveraging social institution in coping with the disaster of the flood in the area of Citarum Watershed Upstream. Research results showed in the region there are four types of institutions, namely the institution of religious, economic, agricultural and social. Institution related to religious activity is Majlis Ta'lim (the place of informal Islamic teaching and education), institution related to the activity of the economy is an arisan (regular social gathering), institution related to social activity is the PKK (Family Welfare Guidance), and institution related to the agricultural activity is The Association of Farmers Group (Gapoktan). The reason for the environment actuator utilizing social institution are as the entrance (access) to carry out flood mitigation program, already familiar, easy to invited to cooperate and to expand the network. The role of the environment actuator in the institution as a communicator and facilitator in conducting dissemination of information and training of waste utilization to the members of the institutions.

Abstract

This study explores the phenomenon of Vlogger as a new business in the digital media industry in Indonesia. Vlogger refer to social media users who regularly upload a variety of video content with various themes. We used case study to describe and analyze Youtube’s significant role in managing Vlogger communities, and also design support systems to make the communities growth and sustainable. We also explore Vlogger role as Online Influencer. This study is expected to be one of the references related to Vlogger phenomenon in the context of digital media studies in Indonesia.

Abstract

Salah satu ciri masyarakat kelas menengah adalah memiliki disposable income, yaitu dana sisa di luar untuk kebutuhan sandang, pangan, papan dasar yang cukup besar, yaitu sekitar 30 persen dari total pendapatan. Dengan disposable income yang memadai mereka memiliki keleluasaan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan di luar kebutuhan dasar (basic needs) termasuk dalam memilih tayangan televisi favorit. Sebagai penonton televisi, kelas menengah memiliki posisi penting dalam proses komunikasi bermedia (mediated communication). Penelitian mengenai tayangan televisi dilakukan untuk melengkapi kajian tentang televisi, karena bagaimanapun juga pesan yang disampaikan  televisi, baru akan bermakna ketika sampai ke mata penonton, dalam hal ini kelas menengah perkotaan. Rumusan masalah penelitian ini adalah bagaimana kelas menengah perkotaan memaknai tayangan favorit mereka di televisi nasional. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi, wawancara, dan studi dokumen serta teknik analisis data deskriptif, dengan informan penelitian adalah kelas menengah perkotaan dengan rentang usia 26 – 50 tahun. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwapemaknaan yang dilakukan masing-masing responden satu sama lain berbeda.Kelas menengah tidak sepenuhnya tidak berdaya dalam interaksinya dengan televisi dan menerima begitu saja apa yang ditawarkan oleh televisi. Kelas menengah perkotaan bukanlah audiens yang pasif dalam menonton televisi, melainkan para pribadi yang bebas dan otonom dengan potensi kesadaran kritis terhadap media televisi melalui sikap ingin tahu dan komentar-komentar yang terlontar dari padanya. Tayangan favorit kelas menengah perkotaan kini mulai bergeser dari tayangan sinetron drama dengan ratusan episode kepada tayangan talkshow yang lebih informatif namun tetap menghibur.Kata-kata Kunci: Kajian Kritis, Tayangan Televisi Favorit, Kelas Menengah Perkotaan, Kota Bandung

Abstract

Media literasi yang mengangkat isu disabilitas, masih relatif terbatas, terutama di Indonesia. Padahal pengenalan tentang dunia disabilitas merupakan langkah strategis untuk mengurangi stereotip dan diskriminasi kepada kelompok marjinal ini. Oleh karena itu, perlu kiranya dilakukan upaya penyampaian informasi mengenai disabilitas untuk menanamkan nilai kesetaraan kepada anak sejak usia dini melalui cerita bergambar. Penelitian ini menggunakan konsep proses PR yang dijadikan patokan untuk melakukan kegiatan komunikasi strategis melalui pembuatan media literasi yang efektif. Adapun metode yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif. Sedangkan hasil yang diperoleh antara lain adalah gambaran teknis mengenai tahapan fact finding, Planning, communicating dan evaluation. Adapun rekomendasi yang dapat diberikan adalah perlunya keterlibatan organisasi disabilitas untuk menjaga agar isi dan gambar dalam cerita bergambar anak tidak menyentuh sisi sensitif kaum disabilitas. Selain itu diperlukan pula upaya review dari psikologi anak dalam meningkatkan efektivitas penyampaian informasi yang efektif dan sesuai dengan perkembangan usia anak dalam menyerap informasi dalam sebuah media literasi.
