Abstract

Abstract. Improving the ecological quality of a city can be done by creating green open space. The formulation of a green open space policy for harmonious city is influenced by various interrelated factors. This study aimed to estimate the area of green open space in realizing sustainable green open space in Bandar Lampung City. Indicators in determining the needs of green open space were the population, land area, and CO2 emissions. Based on the population in 2017, the green open space requirement as targeted by the local government was 2,673 ha, while the extent of existing green open space was is only 2,475 ha, hence a need for 197 ha more green open space area. Bandar Lampung City based on its area requires a green open space of 5,916 ha. The level of CO2 emissions in Bandar Lampung City in 2017 was 9,118 Gg/year, while the predicted total CO2 emissions in 2024 is 133.202 Gg/CO2/year and hence the city require additional green open space of 156 ha. This number will increase in line with population growth. For this reason, the area of green open space needs to be adjusted regularly for the absorption of CO2 emissions and the harmony of the city.

Abstract

Roof garden can be interpreted as garden residing in a roof top. Not all plants can survive living on roof tops. The plants which can be planted in roof gardens have to be adaptive to high speed of wind, extreme temperature, and high intensity of irradiation. Objective of this research is to learn environmental influence of stress that induced anatomical adaptation of tree spesies (i.e Bauhinia sp., Erythrina christagalli, Mussaenda sp.and Wodyetia bifurcata) at roof garden in Taman Anggrek condominium, Jakarta.Plants which are planted in normal garden will response differently with the ones in roof garden. Different plants have their own adaptation form that can be visible from their anatomy. The result of this research is Bauhinia sp. shows a better adaptation in roof garden, Wodyetia bifurcata can adapt well, while Erythrina christagalli and Mussaenda sp. cannot adapt well in roof garden. A simple visualisation value concluded that Bauhinia  sp. has a better shape, then the others. After all, this study should be completed with research of more physiological pattern and a complete assesment of tree visualisation.

Abstract

ABSTRACTCorridors are narrow strips of land which differ from the matrix on either side. There are two types of corridors, namely linear corridor and stepping stone. One example of corridor is a landscape along the path of KRL Railway Bogor-Jakarta Kota. Corridor is important for bird movement. Nowadays there is habitat fragmentation along the corridor which is threatened their corridor function. Therefore it should be maintained for sustainable corridor. This study was conducted at corridor along the KRL Railway Bogor-Jakarta Kota which is divided into five segment. Three analyses were used in this study, i.e. corridor distribution analysis, vegetation analysis and bird abundance analysis. Stepping stone corridor has higher number of bird abundance than the linear corridor. Both of corridors have the potential to become a habitat of birds which is indicated by abundance species of birds. The highest abundance of a bird was found in corridor with diversity of plants (Shannon Wienner Index) in the medium level. Several recommendation have provided for managing the corridor such as managing and revitalizing the corridor, increasing vegetation diversity and increasing public awareness for bird habitat conservationKeywords : birds, GIS, habitat fragmentation, linear corridor, stepping stone

Abstract

Green infrastructure has been indicated as promising measure for adaptation to climate change impact, especially in densely populated cities where green spaces in a big scale were rare. Yogyakarta City expected would be a good representative case study, due the urban density and limited green spaces. In order to gain a better understanding and awareness of climate change impact and green infrastructure benefit, it is important to find out how people think about issues related to it. Perceptual studies can generate more understanding of the research areas, and knowing the preferences for implementing green infrastructure can help urban planners identify more effective policy responses. The objective of this study is to analyze public perceptions and preferences on climate change and green infrastructure in Yogyakarta City. The study area located in Yogyakarta City is divided into three groups based on the difference proportion of surface temperature. Data collecting conducted by online questionnaires, and samples selection used accidental sampling method. Descriptive statistics used to analyze descriptive data, chi square and Kruskal-Wallis analysis were used to determine the differences between three study areas, then logistic regression method used to find out the influence of socio-demographic factors. The results showed that there were not many significant differences between the 3 groups of study areas on community perceptions and preferences, while socio-demographic factors such as age, occupation, and gender affect some results of community perceptions and preferences. This study explains how community’s awareness of climate change impacts and understanding of the benefits of green infrastructure and local preferences, so that the benefits of green infrastructure can be accepted by the community effectively.

Abstract

Yogyakarta City has a privilege in the history of the Mataram Kingdom relics either tangible or intangible. One of them is the philosophy axis. The philosophy axis is manifested in the form of a path that has historical objects as the elements of forming a city. The main elements are Tugu Yogyakarta, Malioboro Street, Zero Kilometer, and South Square is now being used in the open space of the city. The aims of this study were to examine the place dependence on the four historical objects with the respondents. The study has already done using qualitative and quantitative methods. The main of qualitative methods by distribution questionnaires involve the perception of natives, newcomers, and tourists as much as 327 respondents. Other qualitative methods were done by using a descriptive approach to the literature review and interviews, as well as field observation. Quantitative methods by using a non-parametric of different test with Mann-Whitney U for testing of perception between two samples. The results of this study, perception between the natives and newcomers was no difference. The results showed that place dependence obtained the doubtful value of 83.33%, the disagree value of 8.33% and the agreed value of 8.33%. The importance of place dependence as a recommendation in planning is the preservation of tangible cultural heritage and increasing the dimensions of place attachment in public space, especially the Zero Kilometer which has the weakest value. Finally, Yogyakarta City would be realized by UNESCO as one of World Heritage City about cultural heritage.
