Abstract

Mathematics learning activities would not be separated from the problem of mathematics. The  mathematical will be a problems if  in solving  problem  students does not immediately know the answer, but it takes time to think what steps should be taken to resolve the issue. In fact, many students are good at solving mathematical problems often use smart ways beyond of expectations and habits, thereby providing a short and accurate answer. in contrast to the students who have moderate or low mathematical ability, the way that used to solve the problem tend to give answers  lengthy and sometimes less accurate, although many low of  students math skills who have difficulties to find a way to solve mathematical problems. It showed that, there is a correlation between mathematical abilities of the students with intuition that students use in solving mathematical problems. On the other hand, the gender factor influencing the way to gain knowledge of mathematics. The influence of the gender factor in the process of conceptualization showed that gender may affect the use of intuition in understanding mathematical concepts. The aims of this study is to determine the differences between women's and men’s intuition on vocational students who have a high level of mathematical ability, medium and low in mathematical problem solving. This study used a qualitative approach with descriptive research  without the use of statistical analysis. the population is a whole class X SMK 1 Banda Aceh by taking six subjects consisted of 3  male and 3 female subjects at various levels, through learning achievement tests and consultation with subject teachers. Data collected by using a test instrument covering mathematical problem solving ability test and an interview. Based on this research, note that: 1) The differences characteristic between women and men on the subjects intuition  in solving mathematical problems by using  solving Polya; 2) the differences intuition subjects  between men and and women in solving mathematical problems by solving Polya; 3) There are differences intuition on various materials.

Abstract

The students' mathematical creative thinking ability is still low and lacks attention in the implementation of mathematics learning. This issue requires an attempt to address the problem. One of the efforts that can be done by teachers to develop creative thinking ability is by applying a Brain-Based Learning model of learning. This study aims to describe the development of students' mathematical creative thinking ability through Brain-Based Learning model. This research employed a qualitative approach. Participants were six students selected from 30 students of class VIII-1 in SMP Negeri 19 Percontohan Banda Aceh. The instruments used in this research are creative thinking ability test and interview guide. The results showed that the ability of students' mathematical creative thinking through Brain-Based Learning model developed. The development of students' creative thinking ability in each indicator is different. The students' mathematical creative thinking abilities for indicators of fluency and flexibility develop at each session. For indicators of originality and elaboration, there was a decrease in the second session but increased for the next one.

Abstract

Mathematical proof is one aspect that must be considered in learning mathematics in school. One of the obstacles that students experience on geometry is the difficulty of constructing proof. The specific learning materials are not available yet. To achieve that goal required a  learning materials for teaching mathematical proof using Guided Inquiry model. This research is a developmental research using ADDIE model consisting of five stages, namely Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation stage. The experimental subjects in this study were one class of students at year 12 at one of senior high school at Banda Aceh. Based on the results obtained that the learning materials consisting of lesson plan, students’ worksheet, handout, and test are categorized as valid, practical, and effective. The recommandation of this study is learning materials can be implemented for teaching mathematical proof in senior high school.

Abstract

Performance requires students to be active in working on assignments, as the evaluation is not only on the products but the skills they have. Mathematical disposition of students is vital to consider. Lack of students’ participation in the learning process can lead to low students’ performance and mathematical dispositions. The Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model encourages students productive. They will work on a project whose learning activities are more interesting and tangible so that students can develop their mathematical performance and disposition. This study aimed to analyze the development of student performance in completing group and individual assignments and their mathematical disposition through the application of the PjBL model. This research applied a qualitative study describing the development of student performance and mathematical disposition. The research subjects were 30 Year 7 students from one class of SMP Negeri 3 Unggul Ingin Jaya Aceh Besar. Data collection techniques involved observation, interview and questionnaire. The research results showed that 1) students developed their performance in completing group assignments by conducting all stages of task completion; 2) students developed their performance in completing individual tasks by performing all stages of task completion; 3) the mathematical disposition of students after the learning with the PjBL model had improved, especially on indicators of interest and curiosity.

Abstract

The thought process is very important in learning mathematics, especially in problem solving. By knowing the thought process didwa then the teacher can design an efficient learning model. The purpose of this study was to determine the thinking of students MTsN Rukoh Banda Aceh in solving the problem about the story in terms of cognitive style reflective and impulsive. This study uses a qualitative method. This research was conducted in Banda Aceh MTsN Rukoh in class VII. Sources of data obtained from observation, MFFT, tests and interviews. Examination of the validity of the data is done by triangulation of time. Data analysis was carried out through several stages of data reduction, data presentation and conclusion. Based on the results obtained: (1) the thinking of students who styled cognitive reflective as follows: (a) the students are able to understand the problem; (b) the students have been able to make a plan or a way to solve problems and create a relationship between the known data with data asked in question; (c) the student is capable of running plans have been made, by operating the known data on the matter to the steps that have been made, and then execute the plan. Having obtained the results of the plan and then operate on the issues in question; (d) look back at what has been done or checked back in. (2) the thinking of students whose cognitive style Impulsiveness as follows: (a) the students are able to understand the problem; (b) students make settlement by relying intiusi so that the answer given was one of the students to operate on a mathematical concept; (C) the student is capable of running plans have been made, but in running student plan is still lacking precision in understanding the steps to resolve the matter in question; (d) a student can not make a conclusion on the question of.

Abstract

The purpose of mathematics learning in Permendikbud No. 59 of 2014 requires students are able to understand mathematical concepts, explain the link between concepts and apply concepts or algorithms, are flexible, accurate, efficient, and precise in troubleshooting. But the facts show the students have not been able to understand mathematical concepts well. This condition can be caused by many factors, including students' motivation in learning, models and media used by teachers during the learning process. One model of learning that is presumed to help students to improve understanding and motivation is model of discovery learning aided Macromedia Flash 8. The purpose of this study to determine the increase of understanding mathematical ability and motivation taught with discovery learning aided Macromedia Flash 8 as well as the correlations between mathematical understanding ability and motivation to learn mathematics. This study was an experimental study with pretest-posttest study design group design. The population throughout class XI student of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 Sigli, random sample selection is done to determine the experimental class (XI IPA3) and the control class (XI IPA6). The instrument used in this study consisted of mathematical understanding ability instrument and motivation questionnaire of study mathematics.  Based on the results of data analysis using t-test and test of product moment correlation of Pearson gained increased mathematical understanding ability and motivation to learn math through discovery learning model aided Macromedia Flash 8 is better than applying the model of discovery learning but not significant, there is a relationship between the ability of mathematical understanding and motivation through discovery learning model aided macromedia flash 8, the degree of closeness relationship is in enough category.

Abstract

[Bahasa]: Hasil tes internasional seperti PISA dan TIMSS menunjukkan rendahnya kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa Indonesia. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan profil pemecahan masalah persamaan garis (PGL) lurus siswa SMP berdasarkan jenis kelamin. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis eksploratif. Data dikumpulkan melalui lembar tugas pemecahan masalah persamaan garis lurus, wawancara, dan rekaman audio visual. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif melalui reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa subjek laki-laki dan perempuan mengidentifikasi masalah dengan membaca berkali-kali soal tanpa suara dan mampu menceritakan kembali soal yang telah dibacakan menggunakan bahasa sendiri sambil melihat teks. Pada tahap merencanakan penyelesaian masalah, subjek laki-laki dan perempuan sudah dapat menuliskan apa yang diketahui ditanya dan mengubah bentuk soal cerita menjadi model matematika. Pada tahap melaksanakan rencana penyelesaian masalah, subjek laki-laki dan perempuan masih keliru dalam menggunakan rumus atau konsep matematika. Dan pada tahap pengecekan kembali, subjek laki-laki dan perempuan melakukan pengecekan kembali terhadap hasil penyelesaian. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa subjek laki dan perempuan dengan kemampuan matematika tinggi memiliki profil yang tidak berbeda dalam menyelesaikan masalah PGL. Kata kunci: Pemecahan Masalah; Persamaan Garis Lurus; Jenis Kelamin [English]: International assessment program like PISA and TIMSS showed that Indonesia students have low problem solving ability on mathematics. The purpose of this research was to describe and analyze the profile of grade 7 students’ problem solving based on the gender. The research used qualitative explorative approach. The data was collected through problem-solving task regarding line equation, interview, and audio-visual recording then it was analyzed descriptively by reducing data, presenting data, and drawing the conclusion. The research found that both male and female subject identified problems by reading the questions many times soundlessly and were able to retell the questions which had been read using their languages while looking at the text. At the stage of problem solving plan, both male and female subject were able to write down what is known and asked and change the mathematics problems into the mathematics model. At the stage of applying problem solving plan, both male and female had inproperly used the concept or rules. At the stage of rechecking the problem solving, both subjects did recheck the problems solved. The research concludes that male and female student with high mathematics ability have similar profile in solving mathematics problems. Keywords: Problem Solving; Line Equation; Gender

Abstract

Students’ creativity and self-efficacy in solving mathematical problems remain low. Students with Field Dependent (FD) and Field Independent (FI) cognitive styleshave different creativity and self-efficacy. One learning model that is believed to increase students' creativity and self-efficacyis Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. This study aimed to increase the creativity and self-efficacyof FD and FI students through the application of PBLmodel. This research is an experimental study with pre-test and post-test control group design.The population of this research was grade VIII students in State Islamic School (MTsN) 1 Banda Aceh,while the sample consisted of two classes out of 11 classes. The sampling technique usedrandom samplingwith one experimental class and one control class. Data collection was carried out by using two instruments; a paper-test to measure students’ creativity and a questionnaire to measure students’self-efficacy. The grouping of FD and FI students was based on the results of the Group Embedded Figure Test (GEFT). Furthermore, a paired t-test was conducted to obtain an increase in students' creativity and self-efficacy. At the same time, a correlation test was performed to see the relationship between creativity and the self-efficacy ofstudents. The results of the study revealed that the increase of FD and FI students’ creativity who were taught by the PBL model was better than students taught by conventional methods. The results also reported that the increase of FD and FI students’ self-efficacy who were taught with the PBL model was better than the students who were taught with conventional methods. In addition, there was a significant relationship between FI and FD students' creativity and self-efficacy.

Abstract

Dalam mempelajari matematika siswa sering kali merasakan kegelisahan, kekhawatiran, keprihatinan dan rasa takut. Sehingga dari perasaan tersebut muncul rasa cemas siswa dalam pelajaran matematika. Kecemasan dalam pembelajaran matematika adalah salah satu masalah yang mempengaruhi pembelajaran sehingga harus diminimalkan atau bahkan dihilangkan. Salah satu alternatif yang dapat mengurangi kecemasan siswa terhadap pembelajaran matematika adalah dengan penerapan model pembelajaran Kooperatif tipe Rotating Trio Exchange (RTE). Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah dengan penerapan model pembelajaran RTE dapat mengurangi tingkat kecemasan matematika. Pada penelitian ini, peneliti menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif. Desain penelitian ini kuasi eksperimen kelompok kontrol tak setara (non equivalent control group desain). Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII-4 yang terdiri 31 orang dan kelas VII-2 yang terdiri dari 29 orang. Data dikumpulkan melalui pengukuran angket kecemasan matematika dan observasi. Berdasarkan hasil pengolahan data diperoleh bahwa tingkat kecemasan matematika siswa sebelum dan setelah penerapan model pembelajaran Kooperatif tipe RTE mengalami penurunan. Sebelum penerapan model RTE jumlah siswa yang mengalami sangat cemas 2 orang dan setelah penerapan siswa yang mengalami sangat cemas tidak ada lagi. Siswa yang mengalami cemas sebelum penerapan 15 orang dan setelah penerapan menjadi 4 orang. Siswa yang mengalami kecemasan sedang sebelum penerapan 8 0rang setelah penerapan menjadi 16 orang. Siswa yang tidak cemas sebelum penerapan 6 orang dan setelah penerapan menjadi 11 orang. Dari hasil penelitian digunakanlah statistik uji-t pihak kiri dengan taraf signifikan 5%. Dari hasil pengolahan tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa tingkat kecemasan matematika siswa yang diajarkan melalui penerapan model pembelajaran Kooperatif tipe RTE lebeih rendah dari tingkat kecemasan matematika siswa melalui pembelajaran konvensional.

Abstract

Abstrak Dengan diketahuinya proses berpikir siswa dalam memecahkan masalah, guru dapat merancang dan menerapkan proses berpikir tersebut pada siswa lain yang masih belum dapat belajar secara optimal baik dalam memecahkan masalah maupun dalam proses pembelajaran di kelas. Tujuan Penelitian ini adalah: (1) Untuk mengetahui proses berpikir siswa SMP dalam memecahkan masalah tabung berdasarkan langkah polya, (2) Untuk mengetahui kesulitan siswa SMP dalam menyelesaikan masalah tabung berdasarkan langkah polya. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas IX-3 SMPN 2 Banda Aceh, yang berkemampuan tinggi, sedang, dan rendah. Data diperoleh berdasarkan hasil wawancara mendalam berbasis soal pemecahan masalah. Penelitian merupakan penelitian kualitatif eksploratif yang betujuan untuk menggali semua informasi dari subjek untuk menjawab semua permasalahan yang diajukan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Proses berpikir siswa dalam memecahkan masalah tabung berdasarkan langkah pemecahan Polya yaitu secara asimilasi digunakan oleh siswa berkemampuan tinggi sedangkan siswa yang berkemampuan sedang dan rendah, proses proses berpikir yang digunakan adalah secara asimilasi dan akomodasi dalam memecahkan masalah yang diberikan. (2) Kesulitan-kesulitan yang dialami siswa dalam memecahkan masalah meliputi; Siswa belum memahami dengan baik konsep Volume Tabung, siswa ragu-ragu mengatakan rumus Volume Tabung, siswa kurang teliti dalam memecahkan masalah yang diberikan.. Kata kunci: Proses Berpikir, Asimilasi, akomodasi, Langkah Pemecahan POLYA Abstract With knowing students' thinking process in solving problems, the teacher can design and apply the thinking process from a student to other students who are still unable to learn optimally both in solving problems and learning process in the classroom. This study objectives were: (1) To see the thinking process of junior high school students in solving tube problems based on Polya steps, (2) To see the difficulties of junior high school students in solving tube problems based on Polya steps. Subjects in this study were students of class IX-3 SMPN 2 Banda Aceh, who have high, medium, and low abilities. Data obtained from in-depth interviews based on solving problems. Exploratory qualitative research that aims to take all information from the subject to answer all the problems posed. The results showed that: (1) The thinking process of students in solving tube problems was based on the management steps of Polya by means of assimilation used by high-ability students, while students with medium and low abilities, the thinking process was used assimilation and accommodation in solving the given problems. (2) The difficulties that make students solve problems including; Students didn’t understand well the concept of tube volume, students hesitated to say the formula for tube volume, students were less careful in solving the problems given.
