Abstract

AbstractThe offering has an important role in the church. The offering is one or even the only way to support the needs of the church. When the church is in need of funds, the issue of an offering of a corruptor becomes a dilemmatic problem. In an effort to address the issue, this writing investigates the story of the poor widow's offering in Luke 21: 1-4 through the New Testament hermeneutic method. This writing explains that the offering is never merely money oriented because the offering involves the entire existence of the party who gives the offering. When the truth about the offering of corruptor is not a single, the church must present to declare its position firmly and embrace the corruptor. Keywords: Offering, Corruptor, Poor Widow, Luke 21:1-4, Church

Abstract

Narratives of the violence victims can contribute to an open Christian social identity. This article contains violence narratives of women in East Timor and narratives about First Peter community. There are two reasons behind the selection of those narratives. First, both narratives are violence narratives from the victims’ perspective and trauma narratives. Second, those different narratives show the link between narratives in everyday life and narratives that come from the Bible. The purpose of the selection of these narratives is to give a deep understanding of violence and trauma and their contribution to the construction of an open Christian social identity.
