Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused all fields to face a situation that challenging. critical thinking skills must still be integrated into science learning with the situation because it is one aspect of 21st-century learning. An alternative to reducing face-to-face activities is that schools carry out mixed-system learning. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the integration of critical thinking skills in science learning using a blended learning system in elementary schools given the limitations in learning during the covid-19 pandemic. This research is a case qualitative research with descriptive proportion with a sample of 19 elementary school fifth-grade students. Data collection techniques used are observation, documentation, questionnaires, and interviews. Triangulation of sources and techniques used to validate data. The results showed that critical thinking skills in elementary school science learning using a blended learning system are still relatively low with data (Mo<Md<Me), mean = 14.10, and the largest percentage distribution of 47.37%. The percentage of the majority of the questionnaires answered never with details on the aspects of formulating the problem52.63%, analyze arguments and solve problems 48.42%, evaluate 57.89%. In conclusion, the integration of critical thinking skills with blended learning systems in elementary schools in science learning still needs to be considered because there are still obstacles in its implementation. The results of this study have implications for finding solutions to improve critical thinking skills in science learning with blended learning system learning to be more effective. The recommendation in this study is that teachers are more creative in implementing blended learning system learning strategies for success critical thinking skills in learning science students can be achieved well.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the design of the development of an enrichment book based on laboratory results of infection in plants. The subtopics presented are infection in plants and detection of infected plants by using isozymes. The initial stage that is carried out is that researchers conduct research in the field and in the laboratory to obtain information in writing the manuscript or the content of the material to be presented in the enrichment book. The development of the enrichment book refers to the book development procedure by Sitepu (2012), are script writing, illustration, editing, cover design, and printing. The design for the development of the enrichment book is arranged in several parts, are the cover page, the initial page, the content section, the evaluation page, and the final page. The development of the enrichment book will be tested on high school students who have obtained infection material on plants. The development of this enrichment book is based on the lack of utilization of research results as teaching materials in schools. Therefore, this biological enrichment book was developed based on the results of research conducted, namely disease incidence (di), disease severity (ds), and isozyme characterization of virus-infected chili plants. The development of this enrichment book is expected to increase students' insight, knowledge, and curiosity and be used as a learning resource to understand the concept of plant infection material widely.

Abstract

Based on the study of literature and documents, the material analysis of plant classification is considered difficult. The assessments that have been used on plant classification materials have not been equipped with feedback. This study aims to determine the validity, reliability, level of difficulty, discriminatory power, detection of bias and unidimensionality of dynamic assessment instruments on plant classification materials. Development research method with the ADDIE model. The research sample was 121 biology education students who were selected by purposive random sampling. The results showed the validity of the questions in the form of 12 fit questions with the Rasch modeling having an MNSQ infit of 0.80-1.22. The reliability of the items in the 0.97 category is very good and the respondent's reliability is 0.31 in the weak category. While the level of difficulty of the questions is unknown, there are four categories, namely 3 very easy questions, 4 easy questions, 2 difficult questions, and 3 very difficult questions. The discriminatory power of questions with a separation index of 6.71 and an index of separation of questions of 0.67. Detection bias shows that gender does not discriminate against item items and unidimensionality of item items with 36.5% raw variance with sufficient category. The dynamic assessment instrument is suitable to be used to measure the understanding of the concept of plant classification in students
