Abstract

This study analyzed Higher-Order Thinking Skills of Environmental Problem (HOTSEP). It was conducted in March 2021. The sample comprised 114 vocational high school students, 66 male and 49 female students from several schools in Jakarta, Indonesia. The data was collected online using Google Form and Microsoft Excel for data analysis. The results showed that the HOTS score with analyzing environmental problems (C4) obtained an average score of 50. The thinking aspect of evaluating environmental problems (C5) obtained an average score of 49. The thinking aspect of making programs to overcome environmental problems (C6) obtained an average score of 47. Therefore, the study showed that the HOTS scores were relatively low since the average score was 51. The results showed that the HOTSEP score on the criticizing environmental problems (C4) obtained an average score of 24. The thinking aspect of environmental problem solving (C5) obtained an average score of 25. Furthermore, the thinking aspect of environmental innovation development (C6) obtained an average score of 23. Therefore, the study showed that the HOTSEP score was poor since the average score was 26. The research results suggest that learning media employed requires an improvement related to disaster mitigation. One media that can be developed is Disaster Research integrated book for Vocational Education (Drica). It can be concluded that the research results generally indicate that the vocational education students remain lacking in the HOTSEP aspect.

Abstract

Premarital sex is a growing social issue in Indonesia. The number of adolescents who conduct premarital sex has increased over the years. This study aimed to analyze the determinants of premarital sex behavior among adolescents in Indonesia. The study used secondary data from the 2017 Indonesian Demographic Health Survey (IDHS) with a total of 22,583 adolescent participants. The chi-square and multiple logistic regression were performed to assess the association of premarital sex behavior with socio-demographic status, tobacco, alcohol, and drug use. The results revealed that premarital sex was associated with sex, age, education level, smoking status, alcohol consumption, and drug use. Adolescents who had drunk alcohol were almost twenty times more likely (AOR = 19,888; 95% CI = 16,124-24,531) to have premarital sexual intercourse compared to adolescents who had not. The results found that premarital sex was strongly correlated with addictive substance use. Therefore, the government should formulate integrated health intervention programs to prevent risky health behaviors among adolescents. These can include integrating education on the dangers of smoking, alcohol consumption, and drugs into the Generation Planning or Generasi Berencana (GENRE) program, or Pusat Informasi dan Konseling Remaja (PIK R) or Youth Information and Counseling Center, which focuses on reproductive health in one package.

Abstract

Abstract. HIV and AIDS has become a serious health problem worldwide and in Indonesia. The epidemic has increased recently, especially in the MSM group. MSM are a high risk group for contracting HIV and AIDS. The VCT’s program is an early detection effort to find out a person's HIV status through Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT) so that prevention can be done as early as possible. This study aims to find out the determinants of the utilization of VCT in MSM at Jakarta in 2019. The research design was cross sectional with 132 MSM at Jakarta, using Probability Proportional Sampling (PPS). The data collected by using interview. Bivariate analysis conducted using chi-square test with α = 0,05 and multivariate analysis using logistic regression tests. There is a significant relationship between perceived threat (p = 0.048), perceived benefits (p = 0.000), perceived barriers (p = 0,000), cues for action (p = 0.040), peer group support (p = 0,000), and health care provider support (p = 0,000). The results of multivariate analysis showed that perceived threats (AOR 8,341) were the variable that most influenced the utilization of VCT services. It is recommended to health workers and NGOs to increase campaign for VCT services both directly and indirectly through media, and to encourage peer support to use VCT services. Abstrak. HIV dan AIDS merupakan masalah kesehatan serius di seluruh dunia dan Indonesia khususnya pada kelompok LSL (Lelaki Suka/Seks dengan Lelaki). LSL adalah salah satu kelompok risiko tinggi untuk tertular HIV dan AIDS. Upaya deteksi dini untuk mengetahui status HIV dilakukan melalui Voluntary Counseling And Testing (VCT) agar dapat dilakukan pencegahan sedini mungkin. Penelitian ini bertujuan melihat faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan pemanfaatan VCT pada LSL di Jakarta Tahun 2019. Desain penelitian yang digunakan cross sectional dan sampel yang diambil sebanyak 132 LSL di Jakarta, dengan cara PPS (Probability Proportional Sampling). Pengambilan data dengan wawancara menggunakan kuesioner dan dianalisis univariat, bivariat dan multivariat. Analisis bivariat menggunakan uji chi-square dengan α = 0,05. Analisis multivariat menggunakan uji regresi logistik. Diketahui ada hubungan antara ancaman yang dirasakan (p=0.048), manfaat yang dirasakan (p=0.000), hambatan yang dirasakan (p=0.000), isyarat untuk bertindak (p=0.040), dukungan peer group (p=0.000),dan dukungan petugas kesehatan (p=0.000). Hasil analisis multivariat menunjukkan bahwa ancaman yang dirasakan (AOR 8.341) merupakan variabel yang paling berpengaruh terhadap pemanfaatan layanan VCT. Diharapkan agar petugas kesehatan dan pihak LSM lebih sering mengkampayekan layanan VCT baik langsung maupun tidak langsung melalui media informasi, meningkatan dukungan dari teman sebaya untuk mengajak dan mendorong agar LSL mau memanfaatkan layanan VCT.

Abstract

Abstract. Indonesia is experiencing a demographic bonus, and a good education and health situation will determine the quality of human resources so that this situation does not turn into a demographic burden or disaster. The Indonesian Adolescent Reproductive Health Survey shows the in-depth knowledge of adolescents about puberty, whereas adolescence is a golden period that will determine the quality of the next generation. This study aims to get a picture of the perception of teachers and students in particular about puberty and its relation to religion. The approach used is qualitative, data collected by conducting in-depth interviews with teachers, parents, and students. There were ten informants, consisting of teachers, parents, and students from 2 public and religious-based elementary schools in North Jakarta. In general, teachers have low knowledge / understanding of puberty, as well as students' knowledge. Most teachers have the perception that education about puberty in the classroom, according to the curriculum, turns out to be too vulgar so that some information is not conveyed to students. Religion is considered as the most reliable foundation in shaping student behavior. Teachers tend to hand over responsibility to religious teachers to deliver material on puberty, at religiously-based schools specifically mentioned teachers of fiqh. Teacher capacity building is needed regarding the material that must be taught, and it is delivery methods to suit the needs of students and have an impact on improving knowledge and improving behavior.Abstrak. Indonesia sedang mengalami bonus demografi dan situasi pendidikan dan kesehatan yang baik sangat menentukan kualitas sumber daya insani agar situasi ini tidak berbalik menjadi beban atau bencana demografi. Survei Kesehatan Reproduksi Remaja Indonesia memperlihatkan rendahnya pengetahuan remaja tentang pubertas, padahal masa remaja merupakan periode emas yang akan menentukan kualitas generasi berikutnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendapatkan gambaran persepsi guru dan peserta didik di khususnya tentang pubertas dan kaitannya dengan agama. Pendekatan yang digunakan yaitu kualitatif, data dikumpulkan dengan melakukan wawancara mendalam kepada guru, orang tua, dan peserta didik. Jumlah informan 10 orang, terdiri dari guru, orang tua, dan peserta didik dari 2 sekolah dasar umum dan berbasis agama di Jakarta Utara. Secara umum guru memiliki pengetahuan/pemahaman yang rendah tentang pubertas, demikian pula pengetahuan peserta didik. Kebanyakan guru memiliki persepsi bahwa edukasi tentang pubertas di kelas sesuai kurikulum ternyata dianggap terlalu vulgar sehingga sebagian informasi tidak disampaikan kepada peserta didik. Agama dianggap sebagai landasan paling diandalkan dalam membentuk perilaku peserta didik. Guru cenderung menyerahkan tanggung jawab kepada guru agama untuk menyampaikan materi tentang pubertas, pada sekolah berbasis agama disebutkan secara spesifik guru fiqih. Dibutuhkan pengembangan kapasitas guru tentang materi yang harus diajarkan dan metode penyampaiannya agar sesuai dengan kebutuhan peserta didik dan berdampak terhadap peningkatan pengetahuan serta perbaikan perilaku.

Abstract

Indonesia merupakan negara yang berisiko sangat tinggi mengalami bencana alam. Bencana tersebut berdampak besar bagi kehidupan manusia dan pembangunan bangsa. Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk melihat gambaran tentang perasan positif korban terdampak pasca rangkaian bencana alam di Lombok, Sulawesi, dan Banten pada tahun 2018-2019. Metode yang dilakukan yaitu kombinasi edukasi dengan teknik curah pendapat, bercerita, dan diskusi. Peserta yang dilibatkan adalah pengungsi korban dan penyintas gempa kelompok usia kanak-kanak, dewasa, dan lansia baik laki-laki maupun perempuan serta relawan independen dan institusi pemerintah serta swasta. Kegiatan dilaksanakan pada Agustus 2018 hingga Januari 2019. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa umumnya pengungsi memiliki perasaan negatif akibat trauma maupun karakteristik pribadi (kepribadian) dan bisa jadi situasi budaya. Namun, ada di antara mereka yang kondisi mentalnya sukup stabil dan positif. Perasaan positif harus ditularkan kepada korban dan penyintas lain agar mereka mampu menemukenali potensi yang masih dimiliki. Diperlukan intervensi sistematis untuk mengembangkan masyarakat agar segera bergerak, membangun, dan memberikan kontribusi terbaik bagi upaya pemberdayaan.---Indonesia reognised as a high potential of natural disaster country. The impact of the disasters is very significant  to  human  life  and  national  development. The  purpose  of  this  study  to  reveal  positive feeling  among  the  victims  of  Lombok,  Sulawesi,  and  bantennatural  disasters series.  The methode conducted  by  using education  combined with brainstorming,  story  telling,  and  disscussion. The paticipants were  refugees and survivors of various  age  (children, youth, and elderly) both male  and female  as  well  as  independent  and  government  volunteers.  The  study  was  conducted from August 2018untul  January  2019.  Generally  the  refugees  showed  negative  feelings  due  to  trauma  and individual  characteristic  (personality)  and  possibly  cultural  situation.  Hence,  there  were  a  little amount of them having stabiland positive mental condition. These positive feelings need to be spread out  in  order  that  the  other  survivors  together  could  identify  potentials  they  still  had. Systematic intervention are needed to develop the community and make them move, build, and contribute the best to empower themselves

Abstract

Mendaki gunung merupakan kegiatan olahraga sekaligus rekreasi yang dalam situasi tertentu mengakibatkan tumpukan sampah tertinggal di berbagai lokasi (puncak, sekitar kemah, dan sepanjang lintasan). Kegiatan bernama Operasi Bersih Sampah Gunung Cikuray bertujuan membersihkan lokasi terjangkau dari sampah, khususnya yang berbahan plastik. Kegiatan dilaksanakan pada Sabtu-Ahad, 29-30 Agustus 2020 melalui Kiara Janggot, Kota Garut, Jawa Barat. Kegiatan diikuti 52 orang dengan peserta termuda berusia 9 tahun dan tertua 45 tahun, 38 lelaki dan 14 perempuan. Sampah yang berhasil dikumpulkan dan dibawa ke kaki gunung berjumlah sekitar 60 kantong ukuran 3kg dan 15 karung ukuran 20 kg, total sekitar 400 kg. Jenis sampah umumnya botol  (botol plastik berisi urin, botol AMDK, botol minuman keras, tutup botol), pembalut, tisu, bungkus permen, bungkus mi instan, dan puntung rokok. Kegiatan ini sangat bermanfaat, selain bagi kebersihan, kesehatan, dan kelestarian lingkungan, juga bagi individu yang mengikuti kegiatan, baik secara fisik maupun mental.---Mountain climbing is a sport as well as recreational activity which in certain situations results in piles of garbage left in various locations (at the top, around the camp, and along the trails). The activity called Operation Mount Cikuray Garbage Cleanup aims to clean up affordable locations from rubbish, especially those made of plastic. The activity was carried out on Saturday-Sunday, 29-30 August 2020 through Kiara Janggot, Garut City, West Java. The activity was attended by 52 people with the youngest participants aged 9 years and the oldest 45 years, 38 men and 14 women. The garbage collected and brought to the foot of the mountain is around 60 and 15 20 kg sacks, a total of about 400 kg. Types of waste are generally bottles (plastic bottles containing urine, bottled drinking water bottles, liquor bottles, bottle caps), sanitary napkins, tissue wrappers, instant noodle wrappers, and cigarette butts. This activity is very beneficial, in addition to cleanliness, health and environmental sustainability, as well as for individuals who participate in the activity, both physically and mentally.

Abstract

Twenty-first century learning requires high-level thinking skills including critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity known as the 4Cs. The purpose of this study was to determine the ability of the lecturers of the Biology Education Study Program at UIN Alauddin Makassar in making Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) questions and to find out the responses of the lecturers of the Biology Education Study Program at UIN Alauddin Makassar on the importance of developing HOTS questions. This research is a quantitative descriptive research. This research was carried out in the odd semester of the 2019/2020 Academic Year with the research subjects of all lecturers of the Biology Education Study Program at UIN Alauddin Makassar who have educational backgrounds according to the study program as many as 12 people. Data collection techniques through question documentation and questionnaires. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics. The results showed that Lecturers of the Biology Education Study Program were able to make higher order thinking questions (HOTS) with a percentage of 33% Very Able, 8% Able, and 17% Enough, while the remaining 42% with the criteria of Poor. As many as 85% of the Lecturers of the Biology Education Study Program at UIN Alauddin Makassar gave a positive response to 74% of items stating the importance of making higher order thinking questions (HOTS). Suggestions from this study was that Biology Education lecturers can innovate HOTS-based educational evaluations.

Abstract

Indonesian teenagers are getting smarter and having higher achievements, yet experiencing disadvantage situation. Surveys revealed that their health knowledge/literacy and behavior are not getting better even though information access raising. Education (intra and extra curricula) is one of strongest strategy to intervene the fundamental problems. A rapid survey was conducted to assess abstinence and the need of sex education for adolescents in Jakarta and surrounding areas. Data were collected from 163 respondents interviewed at their schools or community. As much as 65% said they never had any kind of sexual activity (primary abstainers) and 81.6% said they need sex education with an offline (face to face) methode 47.8%. Adolescent’s sexual education in Indonesia is indeed an urgent need. An integrative and comprehensive sex education along with adolescent (and pre-adolescent) developmental stages, cultural, and religious values regarding the affect on future health should be undertake.

Abstract

Climate change is a phenomenon that discusses in one of the topics of Science (IPA) that could be integrated with biotechnology. The topic might be studied further in terms of ecopedagogy. The purpose of this study was to measure HOTS with the Higher Order Thinking Assessment instrument based on the Environmental Problem of Climate Change (HOTS-AEPCC) and to analyze the relationship between ecopedagogy and biotechnology. The method used in this research was descriptive with the data collection technique using a survey. The results indicated that the students' HOTS scores as measured by HOTS-AEPCC were still in the low category. Therefore, the results of the analysis showed that the topic of biotechnology in science learning was suitable. It assumed that ecopedagogy could combine with biotechnology. This study concludes that the students' HOTS score is still low. Therefore it is necessary to develop science learning oriented to climate change.

Abstract

It is a necessity to develop environmental learning to solve climate change problems, in particular. One of the focuses is climate change learning at the elementary school level that requires elementary teacher candidates to understand various climate change issues. Skills needed are Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) measurable using Ichsan’s taxonomy as an innovation. Ichsan’s taxonomy consists of six thinking levels, namely identify, compare, implement, criticize problems, solve problems, and develop innovation. The study describes the HOTS of elementary teacher candidates using the HOTS of Climate Change with Ichsan’s taxonomy (HOTSCC-Ichsan). The study uses a descriptive method with a survey as the data collection technique. The study finds that the HOTS scores of the elementary teacher candidates measured using the HOTSCC-Ichsan are in a very low category (28.03). The finding indicates the need to enhance the HOTS-based learning intensively for the elementary teacher candidates. It requires learning media development to address the low HOTS. The research conclusion is that the HOTS of the elementary teacher candidates is low and needs an improvement
