Abstract

Background : Hypertension is a condition in which a person has an increase in blood pressure above normal, both systolic and diastolic pressure. In Indonesia, hypertension is the 3rd cause of death after stroke and tuberculosis. Data from the Mataram City Health Office shows that the Dasan Agung Health Center work area is an area with a significant increase in the incidence of hypertension in the last 3 years. The research objective was to determine the characteristics of hypertensive patients in the Dasan Agung Public Health Center in 2018Method : The study was conducted from July to September 2018. The research design was descriptive and cross-sectional. The population of all hypertension sufferers who were in the working area of the Dasan Agung Public Health Center in 2018 amounted to: 160 people while the sample was 60 samples and the sampling technique was "purposive sampling”.Result : Most of the elderly are 27 0rang (45%), Basic Education 21 people (35%), 31 people do not work (51.67%), long time suffering from hypertension more than 6 months 54 people (90%), have a family history of suffering from hypertension 32 people (53.33%).Suggestion : This study is used as preliminary data to conduct further research, mainly examining the factors that cause hypertension that can be changed
