Abstract

Abstract Tuberculosis (TB) is a global public health problem, the World Health Organization (WHO) stated when it occurred around 7-8 million TB cases with 1.3-1.6 million deaths each year (WHO, 2012). TB is a specific multi-systemic infection, which can cause diverse clinical manifestations in each organ system, so, the clinical presentation of this disease is also quite diverse. Hematologic findings in TB are not uncommon and usually occur due to non-immunological factors. Hematological disorders in the form of anemia, leukocytosis, neutrophilia, lymphopenia, lymphocytosis and increased blood slope rate (LED), thrombocytosis and thrombocytopenia. On blood tests, when TB starts to become active there is a slight leukocytosis with a slightly abnormal type of count. Anemia is reported in 16-94% of patients with pulmonary TB. One's anemia status can be assessed one of them through examination of hemoglobin. The purpose of this study was to analyze the levels of hemoglobin and types of leukocytes in pulmonary TB patients in Surabaya. This examination uses an automatic analyzer with the working principle of SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate). Samples of the blood of pulmonary TB patients in several hospitals in Surabaya .. From 30 samples obtained an average hemoglobin level of 11.5 gr / dl, as many as 10 (33.4%) samples whose levels were within normal limits and 20 (66.6%) sample levels were below normal values. Examination of leukocyte count showed that there were 8 samples (26.6%) of normal neutrophil cells, 22 samples (73.4%) abnormal, 5 lymphocytes of normal cells (16.6%), 25 samples (83% abnormal), abnormal 25 samples (83%) , 4%), normal monocyte cells were 17 samples (56.6%) and abnormal were 13 samples (43.4%).  Keywords: haemoglobine, leukosit type, TB patients

Abstract

AbstractThyroid disorder disease ranks second most in the list of metabolic diseases after diabetes mellitus (DM). Thyroid disease or Thyroid abnormalities is a condition of abnormalities in a person due to the disorder of the thyroid gland. TSH is a primary factor that controls thyroid cell growth and synthesis also thyroid hormone secretion. TSH secretion is stimulated by low levels of T3 and T4 and by the hormone TRH (Thyroid Releasing Hormone) the hypothalamus is inhibited by elevated levels of T3 and T4. T3 and T4 are circulating in the plasma, most of which are bound with proteins, Thyroid Binding Globulin (TBG) and a small part in free form that are Free Triiodotironine (FT3) and Free Thyroxine (FT4). The free hormone (FT3 and FT4) is an actively metabolic fraction which is known to be quantitative. Currently the measurement of free hormone levels should be part of a complete examination of the status of the thyroid gland. The purpose analyzes the levels of TSH, FT4 and proves the relationship between the two in patients with thyroid disorders. This examination by using ELISA method is with EIA competitive principles and sandwiches. The samples are serum of patients with thyroid disorders at RSUD Bangkalan and Farmalab Laboratory from October to November 2017.The 30 samples obtaines an average result of TSH level of 1.9 mIU / L and an average FT4 level of 2.8 ng / dl. Next test Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Spearrman's test results obtained if the variable one value rose (high) then the other variable down (low). It can be concluded that there is an opposite relationship between TSH levels and FT4 levels, if TSH levels increase, the FT4 level decreases, and so it is also in contrast Keywords: TSH, FT4, thyroid disorders

Abstract

Coffee is a psychostimulant drink which can provide good benefits for the body if consumed in moderation. However, one of the effects in excessive coffee consumption over a long period of time that is not accompanied by adequate fluid intake is in fact able to affect sedimentation in urine. The caffeine content which has a lot of particles can cause the kidneys to be unable to reabsorb it. Therefore, it is excreted along with the urine and it causes the urine to be more concentrated. This causes increased sedimentation in the urine. The purpose determined the description of urine sediment examination on coffee connoisseurs in Asrama Kiwal in Brawijaya of Surabaya. The research type used descriptive research with a research sample of 40 people taken by purposive sampling. The results showed that the description of urine sediment examination on coffee connoisseurs at Asrama Kiwal in Brawijaya of Surabaya that 12 people (30%) had normal urine sediment and 28 people (70%) had abnormal urine sediment. Based on the characteristics of the respondents, the presence of abnormal urine sediment was found in the age category 30 years as many as 26 people (76%) with a frequency of coffee consumption > 3 times per day as many as 14 people (35%) in a series of coffee consumption for > 10 years as many as 27 people ( 67.5%) and the frequency of consumption of mineral water 2 litters per day as many as 24 people (60%). The conclusion of this study was that most of the coffee connoisseurs in Asrama Kiwal Brawijaya of Surabaya that experienced abnormal urine sedimentation. Keywords: Coffee, Urine Sediment

Abstract

Anaemia is a condition where blood red blood levels or haemoglobin is lower than normal values. More than 50% of cases of anaemia are spread throughout the world. One of checks to diagnose anaemia is examination of haemoglobin levels. Examination of haemoglobin levels can be determined by several methods, namely the Sahli’s method, the Cyanmethemoglobin method manually and by automatic method. Examination of haemoglobin levels with a of more than 5 minutes incubation time leads to inaccurate results. The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of incubation time on the results of haemoglobin level examination of the Cyanmethemoglobin method. This type of research is experimental research to determine the effect of the incubation time on the results of haemoglobin level examination of the Cyanmethemoglobin method. The population in this research is outpatients with a diagnosis of kidney failure at Gatoel Hospital, Mojokerto, in March 2019. The number of examination samples is 9 samples which is carried out at the Gatoel Hospital Laboratory, Mojokerto. The results of this research show that the average haemoglobin incubation rate of 5 minutes is 7,52 g/dl, incubation of 20 minutes is 7,18 g / dl, and incubation of 30 minutes is 7,04 g / dl. The conclusion of this research is that there is no effect on the delay in incubation time on the results of the haemoglobin level examination of the Cyanmethemoglobin method.

Abstract

The screening blood test is a stage that is carried out by each PMI to ensure the safety before blood transfusion. It is usually done on antibodies (Ab) such as anti-HCV, anti-HIV, TPHA or antigen (Ag) such as HBsAg. HBsAg is the outer coat protein of hepatitis B virus (HBV) and a sign that the individual has been infected with the hepatitis B virus. Hepatitis B virus can cause acute problems and even cirrhosis of the liver. One of the screening blood test methods which is used to detect hepatitis B is ELISA (Enzyme Linked Immuno Sorbent Assay) method. This research was conducted at UTD PMI Sampang by using the data collection in February 2020, and aimed to find out the overview of HBsAg examination results on the screening blood test using ELISA method based on age and sex. Based on the screening blood test, 9 people (3%) were reactive HBsAg and 345 people (97%) were non-reactive. In the age category, the highest number of reactive HBsAg donors was in the age group of 18-24 years old, that was 4 donors (1.1%), while the highest number of non-reactive HBsAg donors was in the age group of 25-44 years old, that was 184 people ( 51.9%). In the gender category, donors with the most reactive HBsAg results were male, that was 8 people (2.3%) and donors with the highest non-reactive HBsAg results was male, that was 283 people (79.9%). In order to minimize hepatitis B, it is expected that society should avoid activities which can cause hepatitis B infection. Keywords        : HBsAg, Blood Transfusion, Screening Blood Test
