Abstract

ABSTRAKBerdasarkan pengalaman peneliti dalam kegiatan belajar mengajar di kelas, pemahaman wacana bahasa Inggris mahasiswa Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris IAIN Raden Intan Lampung masih kurang. Hal ini terlihat banyak mahasiswa yang masih mengalami kesulitan dalam menganalisis sebuah wacana bahasa Inggris terutama dalam kajian tindak tutur. Sebagai respon dari kekurangan tersebut, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: 1) mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan jenis ujaran dan situasinya dalam novel The Beautiful and the Damned karya F.S. Fitzgerald, 2) mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan jenis tindak tutur dan situasinya dalam novel tersebut. Jenis penelitian ini deskriptif kualiatif. Penelitian berusaha mendeskripsikan fenomena kebahasaan tindak tutur performatif dari data alami yang diambil dari novel bahasa Inggris. Analisis dilakukan dengan memberikan interpretasi secara verbal tentang fenomena tersebut.Data penelitian berupa 391 ujaran performatif yang ditemukan dalam dialog-dialog dalam novel tersebut.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada 4 jenis ujaran yang ditemukan dalam novel tersebut yaitu: deklaratif, interogatif, imperatif, dan eksklamatif. Ujaran deklaratif dinyatakan dalam 17 situasi: 1) pleasure, 2) assert, 3) inform, 4) confirm, 5) promise, 6) predict, 7) describe, 8)accept, 9) refuse, 10) like, 11) dislike, 12) hope, 13) part, 14) greet, 15) apologize, 16) threaten, 17) thank, sedangkan untuk ujaran interogatif, terdapat 7 situasi: 1) question, 2) suggest, 3) request, 4) like, 5) confirm, 6) permissive, 7) dislike. Selanjutnya ujaran imperatif mempunyai 5 situasi: 1) command, 2) prohibit, 3) request, 4) permissive, 5) invite, sementara itu ujaran eksklamatif mempunyai 4 situasi: 1) refuse, 2) pleasure, 3) dislike, 4) sorrow. Terdapat 4 macam tindak tutur performatif yaitu representative, ekspresif, direktif, dan komisif. Tindak tutur representatif mempunyai 13 situasi: 1) assert, 2) inform, 3) confirm, 4) assent, 5) predict, 6) conclude, 7) suppose, 8) hope, 9) describe, 10) dissent, 11) remind, 12) exclaim, dan 13) offer. Tindak tutur ekspresif dinyatakan dalam 11 situasi: 1) pleasure, 2) greet 3) accept, 4) praise, 5) like, 6) dislike, 7) apologize, 8) part, 9) thank, 10) sorrow, dan 11) refuse. Selanjutnya, tindak tutur direktif mengandung 7 situasi: 1) question, 2) command, 3) suggest, 4) prohibit, 5) request, 6) permissive, 7) invite, sedangkan tindak tutur komisif mempunyai 2 situasi: 1) promise, dan 2) threaten.

Abstract

AbstractThis is a critical review of article entitled Early Language Acquisition on thebook of Psychology of Language by David W. Carroll. The discussion covers topics such as introduction, pre-linguistic communication, early phonology, acquisition of lexicon, grammar and sign language. Based on the structure and content analysis, the article was systematically well-arranged with an interesting presentation by using dialogs as illustration. Moreover the article was also provided with the valid and authentic data supported by logically strong argumentation and interpretation. Thus this article certainly gives a big contribution to the development of psycholinguistics especially in the early acquisition of language.Keywords: Psychology of language, language acquisition, early languageacquisition.

Abstract

This article focuses on the study of interdisciplinary linguistics in macrolinguistics.  Linguistics is a scientific study of language. In its development, linguistics covers two major areas, i.e. microlinguistics and macrolinguistics. Microlinguistics discusses the internal structures of language such as phonology, morphology and syntax. Moreover macrolinguistics studies the relation between language and the world outside language. It comprises two sub-disciplines i.e. interdisciplinary and applied linguistics. Interdisciplinary linguistics is a joint-study of linguistics and other sciences. Some studies included in interdisciplinary linguistics are phonetics, stylistics, language philosophy, sociolinguistics, semiotics, forensic linguistics, anthropolinguistics, epigraph, psycholinguistics, ethnolinguistics, philology, genolinguistics, and ecolinguistics.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the father’s roles in children’s development and education and the impact of the father’s  involvement within their process. This is a descriptive qualitative research employing fathers in Kelurahan Labuhan Ratu Bandar Lampung as the informants taken by purposive sampling technique. The result of the research shows that the father’s roles in children’s development and education include teaching children on self-control and social values. In addition, the father’s involvement in children’s development and education gives a positive impact to the children’ cognitive, emotional, and social aspects, as well as their physical condition.    Keywords: Father’s roles, children’s development, education

Abstract

The study entitled  "The Role of Special Education  in the Development of Mentally Retarded Children: Studies in special  school (SLB) of Dharma Bakti Pertiwi Bandar Lampung" aims to analyze and describe the roles owned by  SLB C Dharma Bakti Pertiwi Bandar Lampung in coaching Mentally Retarded Children. This type of research is descriptive-qualitative with primary and secondary data sources. Primary data are obtained through observation and interviews with informant based on a purposive sampling technique. Meanwhile, secondary data are  the data obtained from documentation in the form of journals, newspapers, magazines, and the documents required. The results shows  that the roles held by SLB C Dharma Bakti Pertiwi Bandar Lampung in coaching Mentally Retarded Children  are divided into four types, namely (1) instilling behavioral affection, (2) developing the cognitive abilities, (3) developing language skills, and (4) training the adaptive skills. Keywords: special education, child development, mentally retarded                    children

Abstract

This research entitled “Analisis Morfosintaktis Konstruksi Berprefiks Negatif Bahasa Inggris” has two main objectives, i.e. (i) formulating and analyzing types of derivational construction of English negative prefixes; and (ii) formulating and analyzing the constructions of English negative prefixes based on morphosyntactic analysis. This is a kind of descriptive-qualitative research which employs a distributional method in data analysis with the underlying theories of morphology, syntax. The data are sentences containing the construction of English negative prefixes, taken from English novels and textbooks. The result of the research shows that the class and meaning changing derivation includes (1) deverbal noun: un- + V; (2) deadjectival noun: un- + Adj; (3) denominal verb: dis + N; (4) deadjectival verb: dis- + Adj; (5) denominal adjective: non- + Adj, and  class maintaining derivation includes (6) nominal: anti- + N; (7) verbal: un- + V; (8) adjectival: dis- + Adj; and     (9) adverbial: im- + Adv. Morphologically, the constructions consist of  (a) two constituents, (b) three constituents, and (c) four constituents. Syntactically,  the constructions cover head-modifier in NP, VP; head in AdjP; directive and coordinative in exocentric phrase.

Abstract

Abstract

The research aims to describe and analyze the lexically and grammatically cohesivemarkers found in students’ thesis abstracts. This is a kind of descriptive-qualitativeresearch. The population of the research consisted of all sentences found in nineabstracts. Meanwhile, the sample included all sentences containing the cohesive markers taken by using purposive sampling technique. The result of the research shows that the lexically cohesive markers found in the data of lexical cohesion are: synonym (18%),repetition (54%), superordinate (12%), and collocation (16%). In addition, the grammatically cohesive markers found in the data of grammatical cohesion are: reference (15%), conjunction (39%), substitution (21%) and ellipsis (25%).
