Abstract

Jaques Derrida describes his philosophy as rightly pass for an atheist. However, he also uses the term what/whoever comes to point to God. For him God is the one who always in coming but never arrives and therefore there is nothing in the world and history that is able to represent God. This concept of absolute trancendendy arises the question about God’s immanency which is important to transform the world and history. Referring to Richard Kearney, a contemporary philosopher who creatively and critically intreprets Derrida, this article endevours to study the relationship between trascendency and immanency of God in the philosophy of Derrida.

Abstract

Pope Francis pays a serious attention towards cathecists. The catechists have become lay apostles to help the priests in translating the Word of God into people’s life contects. The significance of the role of the cathecists has made them one of the main subjects in the promotion of christian faith. In conection with this Pope Francis again and again reminds us in his Evangelii Gaudium apostolic exhortation that the most important truth about the cathecism, is that every cahtecism activity should “begin with Christ”. Jesus Christ shoud be the starting point of the teaching rendered by a cathecist.

Abstract

Abstract: Jacques Derrida is doubtless one of the most controversial phi- losophers of our time. Controversies surrounding him are mainly caused by his radical ideas which have shaken the main traditions of thinking in Western Philosophy. He demonstrates the contradictions of various philophical concepts. He also uses a provocative approach by connect- ing religion with atheism. This essay will demonstrate Derrida’s concept of religion and how it is connected with atheism. Derrida does not present a theology; however his idea of atheistic faith can contribute to a critical understanding of faith and its expressions within religions. Keywords: Iman (faith), agama (religion), teror (terror), ateis (atheist; athe- istic), hadiah (gift; reward), pengetahuan (knowlegde).

Abstract

Devotion to Mary is one of the most popular religious practices among Catholics, and can be considered one of the oldest forms of popular religiosity. Marian devotions emerged spontaneously as a mixture of elements from local cultures and the Christian faith. However, such practices can become problematic when they overstress certain aspects of human experience together with the role of Mary. This article discusses a text of "The Way of the Cross" which was composed in a dialect of the Lamaholot language as used on the isle of Solor, East Flores. Kata-kata kunci: devosi, jalan salib, penderitaan, ratapan, harapan

Abstract

Gaudium et Spes is a revolutionary document of Vatican II which can still inspire the Church now and in the future. This document is revolutionary in the sense that it deals with problems, issues and ideas that had never before become the agenda of any Council in the Catholic Church. Gaudium et Spes concretizes what John XXIII named aggiornamento, a process of contextualising the Christian heritage, through which the Church opens itself up to the modern world. This document is also revolutionary because it is entirely a product of the conciliar process of the Council itself. This article presents the process of drafting the document and discusses some issues that are relevant for the Church today and in the future. Kata-kata kunci: proses, Gereja, dunia modern, solidaritas, keadilan ekonomi, martabat manusia, perdamaian.

Abstract

Abstract: This article exposes the importance of doing philosophy and theology in Indonesian context. The reason is that philosophizing and theologizing are not only pure rational activities, but ways of how to contribute significantly in the context of Indonesian society and Church. Furthermore, the article argues that pluralism, poverty, social welfare and the environmental destruction are fundamental problems and questions that philosophy and theology cope with. However, the questions are not only typical Indonesian, but global problems. Consequently, doing philosophy and theology in Indonesian context is not an exclusive activity, rather than taking part at a global and inclusive process. Keywords: philosophize, theological, Indonesia, pluralism, poverty, environment
