Abstract

Mind Map The sophistication of information technology and internet network in the fourth industrial revolutionera can be utilized to supportthe learning process. Electronic learning (E-learning) is an innovative learning method that is appropriate in answering the challenges of the fourth industrial revolution era. E-learning is a way to enrich education by integrating technology into traditional classrooms. E-learning allows lecturers to share syllabus and learning material to students, provide assignments that must be done by students and assess students in real-time. This study aims to analyze the response of Biology students to the use of e-learning in ethnobotany courses. The study was conducted from June to October 2019. The subjects of this study were students of Biology Study Program, Class A and Class B year 2016. The research method used was descriptive method using survey methods. The instrument used was a student response questionnaire. The results of the assessment of student responses obtained a value in the learning aspect of 85.10% with a very good category, a material aspect of 89.71% with a very positive category, a programming aspect of 82.46% with a very positive category, and multimedia aspect of 88.17% with a very positive category.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to document belief systems, local knowledge systems, plant utilization practices, and find out the cultural importance or ICS of plant species used in traditional Mandailing wedding ceremonies in villages around the TNBG area. The research method is qualitative and quantitative. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews, participatory observation, documentation, focus group discussions (FGD), collection of plant samples and making herbarium. The plants used in the traditional Mandailing wedding ceremony are 43 species which are included in 20 plant families. Plants with high ICS value were found in burangir (Piper betle L.), sontang (Uncaria rhynchophylla Miq.), pining (Areca catechu L.), and timbako (Nicotiana tabacum L.) with an ICS value of 96.

Abstract

Marsidudu is a smoking process to accelerate the discharge of postpartum blood so that the body becomes healthy after childbirth. The ingredients used in the marsidudu come from plants. According to the Mandailing tribe, currently, the marsidudu has begun to be abandoned by the community due to the influence of modernization. This study aims to reveal and document belief systems, local knowledge, plant utilization practices, and plant cultural significance (Index of Cultural Significance) plants used by the Mandailing Tribe in villages around the Batang Gadis National Park area related to plants in the marsidudu. The research location is in 2 villages around the Batang Gadis National Park, Mandailing Natal Regency. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews, participatory observation, documentation, collection of plant samples, and making herbarium. The data were analyzed descriptively qualitatively and quantitatively. The results showed that the marsidudu believed to be able to keep mothers and babies away from subtle-being disorders and has benefits for the health of the mother and baby. There are 13 plant species covering 9 families used in the marsidudu. The most widely used species come from the Asteraceae family, which is as many as 3 species. The dominant herb habitat is used in the marsidudu which includes 6 plant species. The part/organ of the leaf that is most widely used in the marsidudu. The plants used in the marsidudu are placed on coconut husks until the plants start to smoke. When the plants start to emit smoke, the mother covers the body with a sarong and spreads her legs wide with the uterus perpendicular to the burned plant. Tangkal langkeso (Artemisia vulgaris L.) and tindo tasik (Clerodendrum serratum L.) have important cultural values (Index of Cultural Significance) in the high category of the marsidudu by the Mandailing Tribe.

Abstract

Class of 2020 students face practical lectures such as Real Work Lectures and Introduction to the School Field as well as preparation for the final Thesis assignment. These lectures are not specifically scheduled in the study program, but are related to the partners where the students practice. This is a challenge for students in managing time and independence in carrying out academic activities. The ability to manage time, plan activities and carry out evaluations are metacognitive aspects needed by students. Therefore, this research aims to analyze students' metacognitive awareness through creative bullet journaling writing. The research population was all students of the Class of 2020 biology education at Medan State University who were taking KKN & PLP courses. The sample consisted of 30 students taken randomly. The data collection technique is carried out by providing bullet journaling before the new semester begins. Then students are given time to fill in the journal for approximately 3 months. Data analysis was carried out descriptively quantitatively. The research results show that students have classical metacognitive awareness in the well-developed category. Based on declarative, procedural and conditional aspects of knowledge; monitoring and evaluating are in the well developed category, while for the planning aspect the category is starting to develop. Based on these findings, it is necessary to train students to. Write a journal regularly so that metacognitive awareness can be further improved until the category develops very well
