Abstract

Abstract The condition of bonding between asphalt pavement layer can influence the behaviour of pavement structure in supporting vehicle loading. In strong bonding condition, the adjacent pavement layers will act together to support pavement loading and the other way in weak bonding condition the layers will act independently with the result that stress in every layer of pavement become higher and will decrease pavement life consequently. This study described the investigation of bonding condition using teorethical model and laboratory test. Those are developed using CIRCLY5-SAP2000 Program and Modified Direct Shear Test respectively. The results shown that there is the range of bonding parameter which starting from weak bonding until full bonding using theoretical and laboratory model. Futhermore the analysis shown that ignoring bonding condition between pavement layer will become one of factors which cause early damage in pavement structure.Keywords : Bonding, Direct Shear Test, SAP2000, CIRCLY5

Abstract

The use of back calculation method in pavement system analysis is very common nowadays. There are many computer programs available to perform back calculation process on FWD deflection data. The results from back calculation process are the elastic moduli of pavement layers. These pavement layer moduli, particularly asphalt layer moduli, are affected by such factors as temperature and survey load. This study was carried out on jln. Sukarno-Hatta in Bandung where FWD deflection data were measured at various temperatures and survey loads. This paper outlines back calculation process performed comparatively using program BackCalc and program BackFAA. It was found that temperature and survey load influenced the resulting pavement moduli significantly, and as expected, the two computer programs resulted in quite consistent pavement moduli. Abstract

One of the analytical overlay thickness design methods for flexible pavement structures is the AASHTO'93 standard by employing pavement modult obtained from back calculation process in deflection bowl data. Yet the 2-layered system structure model used in general may result in a theoretical deflection bowl that does not closely match the target deflection bowl data. Croney (1977) suggested to model pavement structure at least as a 3-layered system structure for effective application of analytical design methods. This paper outhnes a modified AASHTO'93 method for analyzing pavement modult of 3-layered system structures resulting from program BackCalc in an overlay design process and specifcally investigates the effects of daily variation in pavement temperature and variation in FWD deflection survey load on pavement modult and on overlay thickness design. Abstract

Metoda desain struktur perkerasan lentur jalan tang saat ini berlaku di Indonesia adalah Metoda Analisa Komponen. Metoda Analisa dengan memanfaatkan model dasar struktur perkerasan yang diadopsi dari metoda AASHTO 72 telah dapat di gunakan selain untuk menentukan desain struktur perkerasan juga untuk menganalisis kondisi struktur perkerasan desain. Namun demikian, model alternatif yang lebih sederhana yang dapat manggambarkan karakteristik struktur perkerasan desain mungkin aku bermanfaat, khususnya dalam mebantu menetukan berbagai skenario stuktur perkerasan desain dalam mengevaluasi derajat kerusakan struktur perkerasan desain akibat tingkat konservatisme dari desin. Model struktur perkerasan desain alternatif yang diusulkan dalam karya tulis ini didasarkan pada fungsi exponensial yang menghasilkan struktur perkerasan desain dengan variasi perkiraan beban lalu lintas sekitar 20% pada tingkat konservatisme desain sekitar 30%.
