Abstract

The utilization of local wisdom in presentation of physics material of high school grade XI  by physics education students is still not optimal. This indicates that the students who careless by sense of environmental. Physics learning resources in daily activities such as local wisdom needed to provide. The purpose of this study is to explore the application of physics concepts to local wisdom of West Sumatra culture as an effort to improve the character of environmental care. The type of research is qualitative research with survey method. Data collected by questionnaires, interviews, document analysis, field notes and Focus Group Discussion (FGD). Analyzed techniques of data which be used qualitative data techniques with steps are data reduction, presentation, conclusion and verification as data analyzed techniques. Result of the research is physics concepts of Rumah Gadang. First, although the Rumah Gadang roof was made of palm fiber but it still survive from leakage problems and wind exposure. The functions of the roofing of the Rumah Gadang are: (1) to increase the speed of the rain falling into the roof, (2) minimize the momentum on the roof, (3) projecting the force of the wind in all directions so that the wind is not trapped on the roof of the Rumah Gadang, 4) made of adhesive between kitchen ash with a good palm fiber (deep layer of palm fiber ), and 5) water deposition on the bad side of palm fiber (outer layer of palm fiber) so that it will be rise to back the surface of the roof through the capillarity mechanism. Second, the wall with a hollow layer can reduce the heat from outside the walls during the day so the air in the room is not as hot as the outside and the heat that has flowing in the room will be trapped by the wall so that air is not too cold at the night. Third, old pole serves as a reference to determine the equalibrium of Rumah Gadang and the poles are made with a slope which opposite direction on two sides (left and right house). This can be create a stable of equalibrium Rumah Gadang. Fourth, a stone of fondation that has a diameter greater than the diameter of the milestone can serve to minimize the fictive forces generated by the soil due to the occurrence of the earthquake. Fifth, the staircase made with a certain slope provides a distinct mechanical advantage for the visitor where the where the produced work made becomes as easier. The conclusions of this research indicates this study provide one of the efforts to improve the character of environmental care in physics learning.

Abstract

Kegiatan PKM ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi guru-guru SMP Lubuk Sikaping dalam mengembangkan media interaktif berbasis kontekstual. Metode yang digunakan terdiri dari beberapa tahap yaitu tahap observasi, persiapan, pelaksanaan, monitoring. Hasil analisis data dari pretest dan postest, disimpulkan bahwa kegiatan PKM ini telah dapat meningkatkan kemampuan guru-guru IPA SMP Lubuk Sikaping dalam mengembangkan media pembelajaran interaktif, sehingga dapat meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran. Berdasarkan angket yang diberikan pada akhir kegiatan pelatihan, diperoleh hasil bahwa peserta menyatakan kegiatan ini sangat bermanfaat dan berkaitan dengan pembelajaran di sekolah

Abstract

This research is done because teaching materials student worksheet oriented scientific approach and learning method are less interesting this time, including in SMPN 31 Padang. Curriculum change requires teachers to be able to utilize the entire potential of learners in learning, so that learning centered on the learner. One approach that relates to these demands is scientific approach, for learning can be well with applied so that is needed learning materials, model and method that support the learning process. The purpose of this research is to investigate the influence of applied Method Kokami Game based student worksheet Scientific in Quantum Learning Model for Science Competency of learners of Class VII SMPN 31 Padang. The research is quasi eksperiment with randomized control group only design. The population of this research was Learners of class VII SMPN 31 Padang registered the second semester of academic year 2014/2015. Sampling was done by purposive sampling technique. The research data includes three competency, its are knowledge competency, attitude competency, and skill competency. The research is a written test for knowledge competency, observation sheet for attitude competency and scoring rubric for assessing the performance of skill competency. Analysis of the data for the knowledge competency, attitude competency and skill competency is done by testing  two average. Based on test of normality and homogeneity has be done then test of two average is t-test for knowledge competency and skill competency and t’-test for attitude competency. Data analysis knowledge competency gets an average value 83.67 of experimental class is higher than the control class 78.25. An average value for attitude competency of experimental class 83 and control class 79 while at skill competency, get’s an average value 79.9 of experimental class is higher than control class average 59.6. Analysis of the average similarity test that is done is t-test for knowledge competency and skill competency, t-test for attitude competency.Based on research result It can be concluded that the hypothesis in this research there is significant differences in the applied method of Kokami Games student worksheet Scientific in Quantum Learning Model for science Competency of learners of based Class VII SMPN 31 Padang for knowledge competency and skill competency are recepted but for attitude competency rejected at  real level of 0.05

Abstract

One of the problems that makes the competence of the students are not aptimal is that we have not found can be the suitable learning model between Cooperative Learning type Think-Pair-Share and Snowball Throwing in order to increase student competence. The purpose of this research was to know the difference in competence of the IPA students used Cooperative Learning type Think-Pair-Share and Snowball Throwing for class VII SMPN 11 Padang. This research was Quasi experiment research with factorial design 2 x 2. The population research  was students in class VII SMPN 11 Padang that enrolled on second semester in academic year of 2015/2016. The instruments of this research are paper test for cognitive competence, observation sheets for affective competence, and performance assessment for psychomotor competence. Hypotesis test used was the t-test. Based on data analysis result, it can be concluded that in cognitive competence and psychomotor tcounting > ttable, it shows that Cooperative Learning type Snowball Throwing is better than Cooperative Learning type Think-Pair-Share, but psychomotor competence tcounting <ttable., there is no difference between usage Cooperative Learning type Think-Pair-Share and Snowball Throwing models at  SMPN 11 Padang

Abstract

One of the factors that lead to the low science competencies of students is the use of Student Worksheet (LKPD) that do not support the achievement of competencies, from the aspect of spiritual, attitudes, knowledge, and skills. The purpose of this study is to determine the application effect of LKPD oriented with Brain Based Learning (BBL) approach to the achievement of science competency of the VIII grade students in SMP Negeri 1 Solok. This study is a Quasy Experimental Research with a randomized control group only design. The study population was all students of VIII grade in SMP Negeri 1 Solok listed in the Academic Year 2015/2016. Sampling was done by purposive sampling technique. Data from this study include the achievement of spiritual attitudes, social attitudes, knowledge, and skills competencies. The research instrument is observation sheet for spiritual and social attitudes competence, written test for knowledge competence, and performance assessment for competence skills. Data were analyzed using Chi Square test at the real level of 0.05 for the spiritual aspects of attitudes, social, knowledge, and skills. The result of data analysis of student competencies in spiritual attitudes, social attitudes, knowledge, and performance skills competencies of the experimental class are 78,07; 76,55; 76,32; and 79,70; while the control class are 76,50; 74,40; 71,94; and 77,30. The data showed that the experimental group had a higher level of competence than the control class. Chi Square test results obtained contingency coefficient C for competence spiritual attitudes, social, knowledge, and skills of each 0,062, 0,287, 0,292 dan 0,031. From these results it can be argued that the application effect of LKPD oriented with Brain Based Learning (BBL) approach has significant impact on the Achievement of Science Competency of the VIII Grade Students in SMP Negeri 1 Solok on social attitudes, knowledge, and skills competencies. While on the spiritual attitude competence, the LKPD oriented with Brain Based Learning (BBL) approach is not optimal to give effect to the achievement of Science Competency of the VIII Grade Students in SMP Negeri 1 Solok.

Abstract

This research is motivated by physics learning which is still centered on the teacher and the limited of teaching materials that can be used by students so that students have difficulty in understanding the subject matter. Physics learning requires students to search, experience, explore, and discover for themselves. The purpose of this research is to produce physics teaching materials through a valid nuanced boon constructivism approach and to find out the validity of physics teaching materials through a nuanced boon constructivism approach. Research conducted includes the steps of research and development according to Sugiyono. The stages carried out in this study, that is:1) potential and problems, 2) data collection, 3) product design, 4) design validatian, 5) design revision. The feasibility test was conducted in the form of a validity test by three physics lecturers at the Faculty of Mathematics and natural science of Padang State University and Three teachers from different schools, which is State High School four of Pariaman, State High School one of  Nan Sabaris, and State High School two of Batang Anai. Data collection was performed using a validity instrument which was then analyzed using a Likert scale. Based on research that has been done, produced products in the form of teaching material through a nuanced boon constructivism approach on Newton’s law of gravity and  impulse momentum. The product that has been made is rated highly valid from several components of content worthiness, linguistic component, presentation component and grapich component with a percentage of the average value obtained which is 83,5. This teaching material can later be carried out practicality test and effectiveness tests that will be developed by future researchers so that they can be used in learning activities.

Abstract

Science is an important subject in school learning. Science can improve students' thinking skills to solve problems in daily life. Base on the reason, students should be understand science well. The real condition shows that students' science compatence is low. One solution of this problem is to use interesting teaching materials which is related to daily life. The purpose of the research is to investigate the influence of implementation of student worksheet by integrating REACT strategy in contextual learning toward student competence of  grade VII SMPN 29 Padang. Type of research is a quasi experiment with randomized control only design. The research population was all students of grade VII SMPN 29 Padang that registered in academic year 2016/2017. Sampling technique was purposive sampling. The sample of the population consist of 34 students in the experimental class and 33 students in the control class. Instruments research consist of three parts namely learning result test sheet  for knowledge, observation sheet for attitude, and performance assesment sheet for skill competence of students. Data  were analyzed by  descriptive statistical analysis, normality and homogeneity test, and comparison of two means test. Based on the result of data analysis can be stated that student worksheet by integrating strategy REACT in contextual learning gives significant effect toward students competencies at 95% significant level

Abstract

This research was motivated by the demands of 2013’s curriculum toward the dimensions of knowledge which taught in physics learning and and the levels of cognitive processing which should be trained in learning. Instructional materials and student worksheet (LKPD) used generally do not contain the four dimensions of knowledge and have not been trained the six levels cognitive processes according to Bloom's revision taxonomy. Based on the preliminary study result was known that the competence level of knowledge’s students in cognitive processes C4, C5, and C6 were still very low. One of the solutions is to use LKPD oriented to content complexity and cognitive processes. The purpose of this study was to produce a LKPD content complexity and cognitive processes which are valid, practical, and effective for physics learning in SMA/MA. Research conducted included the type of Research and Development (R&D) using the 4D models development which was reduced into 3D, so this study consist of three stages, which are define, design, and develop. LKPD trials conducted with one group pretest-posttest design. Subjects of research consist of 5 validators (three lecturers of Physics, and 2 Physics teachers SMAN 4 Padang), 3 Physics teachers tested the practicality of LKPD, and eleventh grade students of MIPA1 SMAN 4 Padang. The results of the research showed the LKPD is very valid and very practical, the validity of rate is 3.77 (expressed in percent 94.5%) then the practicality rate based on teachers’ opinion is 3.81 (expressed in percent 95%), and practicality rate based on students’ opinion is 3.57 (expressed in percent 89.25%). The LKPD on learning material of Light and Optical Instrument showed increased understanding with n-gain of 0.53 on medium category. LKPD can enhance high order thinking capabilities of students in Light and Optical instrument materials

Abstract

This research described the application of Problem Based Learning (PBL) with authentic assessment to achieve the student’s competence in natural science. This research was conducted in SMPN 4 Kubung with taking learning material about vibration, wave, sound, and light. This research was done to solve the problem about the implementation of teacher centered learning. The students just write and listen what is presented by teacher so it can affect to the student competence. Type of research was quasy experimental research with randomized control group only design. The population were the students grade VIII SMPN 4 Kubung in the 2014/2015 academic year with sampling technique was purposive sampling. This research used three instruments, those are test sheet of knowledge competence, self assessment sheet of attitude competence, and performance sheet of skill competence. The result of this research could be presented based on data analysis. First, the class which use PBL models get average value in knowledge competence, attitude competence, and skill competence respectively 80.42, 89.29, and 91.96. Second, the use of PBL models has given significant effect toward science competency of students grade VIII  SMPN 4 Kubung

Abstract

Science learning in 2013 curriculum is conducted in integrated form. On the other hand literacy skill is important for students in their learning and life. But the reality shows that science learning and student literacy aren’t implemented well yet. As solution of this problem is to develop contextual integrated science student worksheet by integrating literacy. The purpose of the research is to determine the validity, practicality and effectiveness of the integrated science student worksheet in scientific approach. The type of research is Research and Development (R & D).  Research design in preliminary testing was before and after treatment. Instruments to collect data were expert validity sheet,  practicality of test sheet, effectiveness of test sheet, attitude observastion sheet, and skill assessment sheet. Data analysis techniques which were used in this research were descriptive statistic analysis, graph method, and compare mean test. Based on data analysis, there were two of research results. First, contextual integrated science student worksheet by integrating literacy was very valid with average value is 92,0. Second, implemention of contextual integrated science student worksheet by integrating literacy was very practice acording teacher and students with average value of practicality respectly 87,0 and 84,6.
