Abstract

This research was motivated by author's observation at SMP N 1 Ampek Angkek where some of the students was a game players. Although they were played game online, they still got good grades in their school. This study aims to determine the relationship of online games with students' mathematical critical thinking skills held at SMP N 1 Ampek Angkek. This research is a quantitative research with the type of research used is relationship research. The independent variable in this study is online games and the dependent variable is students' critical thinking abilities. The population in this study amounted to 114 students, while the sampling was done by random sampling of 29 students. Based on the results of the research that the researchers did obtained the value of the Pearson Product Moment relationship, r(count) = 0.068 with 0.05 significance level. So that based on the interpretation of the coefficient relationship r value is between 0.00 <0.068 <0.199, the relationship between the two variables (online games with critical thinking skills) is very low. Based on the significance test obtained sig = 0.728. Because the value of sig = 0.728> α = 0.05, it can be concluded that there is correlationship but not significant between online games with mathematical critical thinking skills at SMP N 1 Ampek Angkek.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the profile of camper student ability in reconstructing prism slices in terms of gender differences. Subjects in this study are two camper students with different gender, male and female who were randomly taken. The result of the research concludes that the ability of male students in constructing prism slices is still weak in accuracy and abstraction power for spatial visualization ability, while other is weak in some aspects in spatial ability: perception, relations and visualization.

Abstract

Epistemologically, science and religion can be integrated, even must be integrated. Imam Suprayogo encourages science as an integration of religious values (Islam) with General Science or Science. The integration of Islamic Education and Mathematics Education in the learning proposed in this paper is Islamic education or Islamic values contained /presented/inherent in mathematics learning. Learning mathematics by incorporating Islamic values or teachings will help facilitate teachers in conveying mathematical concepts as well as Islamic education/Islamic values to students. This integrated mathematics learning is very compatible with the characteristics of Islamic schools/madrasah. Islamic values, help improve the formation of student character in accordance with the ideals of Islam and the nation.

Abstract

This study aims to explore students' mathematics literacy ability and its contributing factors. This research was conducted at MTsN 2 Bukittinggi with 20 students of grade VIII as the subjects the study. The students were selected through random sampling. The instruments used in this research were test and interview. The based on the research results, information obtained: 1) Students are not used to working on questions that are different from the sample questions given by the teacher, 2) Students feel the problems used in the questions are more difficult than routine problems given by the teacher, 3) Students are accustomed and feel comfortable with the questions. which is applicable, and 4) Students are not familiar with the Islamic context used in the questions. The findings in this study reveal that students’ Mathematics literacy ability is in the low category, and this low ability is caused by: 1) the problems given in mathematics learning tend to be the routine problems and 2) the students get accustomed to answering applicative questions and are not used to using them in contextual use (especially in Islamic context)

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has had an impact on changes in the implementation of learning. Face-to-face learning before the COVID-19 pandemic turned into online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. The purpose of this study was to describe the teacher's responses and reasons regarding the implementation of online learning during the covid-19 pandemic. The study was carried out at SMKN Pakong involving five mathematics teachers as informants. Data was collected by interview and continued by analysis. The results of this study include: (1) Teachers more often use WhatsApp application in online learning, because the students are familiar with the use of this application, (2) Teachers prefer to carry out face-to-face learning rather than online learning. It is related to students’ character building and students can be directly monitored by the teachers. (3) The arrangements that must be prepared before online learning are the teachers arrange the necessary equipment such as preparing communication tools, internet quota, ensuring the availability of signals and electricity, preparing materials, power points, learning videos and the examples of the video, (4) Students more understand the subject matter in face-to-face learning, because teachers can immediately correct conceptual errors made by students, (5) Most of the teachers are enjoy in using the lecture method and face-to-face learning, but there are also teachers who prefer to use case study learning and learning using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model.

Abstract

One of the goals of mathematics learning according to the content standards of mathematics is that students have the ability to solve problems that include the ability to understand problems, design mathematical models, complete models and interpret solutions obtained. So that students from elementary school to university level have been trained in mathematical problem solving questions. However, there are still many weak students in achievement in the field of mathematics such as problem solving skills. One of the factors that influence the weakness of problem solving skills is the learning style. The purpose of this study was to analyze students' mathematical problem solving abilities based on learning styles. The type of this research is descriptive quantitative, with the research subject being students of class VIII MTsN totaling 38 students. The instrument used is Questionnaire and Test the ability to solve mathematical problems. Questionnaires are used to classify student learning styles, while problem solving ability tests are used to analyze students' problem solving abilities. The results of the study concluded that mathematical problem solving abilities of students who had a visual learning style were higher than the mathematical problem solving abilities of students who had audiotorial and kinesthetic learning styles. And the ability of problem solving students who have audiotorial learning styles is higher than students who have kinesthetic learning styles.
