Abstract

Abstract:This study aims to determine the effect of emotional intelligence on the understanding of the mathematical concepts of Junior High School students. This study is a correlational study conducted at SMPN 18 Kerinci with a population of eight grade students SMPN 18 Kerinci. The sample in this study was 59 students selected using a total sampling technique. Data collection instruments used were questionnaires on emotional intelligence and mathematical concepts test. Hypothesis testing used t-test. The findings showed that emotional intelligence influenced the understanding of the mathematical concepts with a determination coefficient of 27.30%.Abstrak:Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh kecerdasan emosional terhadap pemahaman konsep matematis siswa Sekolah Menengah Pertama. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian korelasional dengan analisis regresi yang dilakukan di SMPN 18 Kerinci dengan populasi siswa kelas VIII SMPN 18 Kerinci. Sampel dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 59 siswa yang dipilih menggunakan teknik total sampling. Instrumen pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah angket kecerdasan emosional dan tes pemahaman konsep matematis. Pengujian hipotesis dilakukan dengan menggunakan uji-t. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh kecerdasan emosinal terhadap pemahaman konsep matematis dengan koefisien determinasi 27,30%.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the important of statistics, especially in the economics. Therefore, students must know economic statistics. The reality shows that students' ability in economic statistics  is still low. In order that this problems can be solved, a learning module that can help students in studying economic statistics is required. Therefore, in this research the  learning module based on constructivism was selected. This research aims to develop learning module based on constructivism in economic statistics courses. This research is a development research with the ADDIE  model. The subject is students of the Islamic Economics Department, Faculty of Economics and Islamic Business, IAIN Kerinci. This research used two instruments: validation sheets and student response questionnaires. Based on the data analyse, it is found that:  1) The learning module based on constructivism was valid in terms of material, appearance, and constructivism, 2) The learning module based on constructivism wast practical in terms of usefulness, attractiveness, and efficiency with a proportion of 85%

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis dan mathematical habits of mind. Kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis dan mathematical habits of mind perlu dikembangkan pada mahasiswa. Sehingga diperlukan sebuah model pembelajaran yang dapat meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis dan mathematical habits of mind. Oleh karena itu, dipilih model pembelajaran Connecting-Organizing-Reflecting-Extending (CORE) dengan pendekatan scientific. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menelaah peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis dan mathematical habits of mind. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuasi eksperimen dengan desain nonequivalent control group design. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah seluruh mahasiswa semseter I Jurusan Pendidikan Matematika IAIN Kerinci. Sampel terdiri dari dua kelas yang dipilih secara purposive sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis dan angket mathematical habits of mind matematis. Analisis data menggunakan Independent t-test dan uji proporsi. Berdasarkan analisis data, ditemukan bahwa 1) kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis mahasiswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran model CORE dengan pendekatan scientific lebih baik daripada mahasiswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran biasa, 2) tidak terdapat perbedaan mathematical habits of mind antara mahasiswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran model CORE dengan pendekatan scientific dan mahasiswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran biasa

Abstract

Calculus courses have become the basis of other mathematics courses. However, students often find obstacles in this course that cause low mastery of calculus. Therefore we need an in-depth analysis of students' obstacles in learning calculus to develop proper learning materials and methods. This research aims to analyze the students’ learning obstacles in solving mathematical problems in calculus courses. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The subjects of this study were first-semester students of the Mathematics Department at one of the Islamic institutes in Jambi, Indonesia. The subject selection technique used is purposive sampling, while the data collection techniques used questionnaires and interviews. Based on data analysis, it was found that there were five types of errors made by students in solving mathematical problems in a calculus course, namely conceptual errors, algorithm errors, calculation errors, algebraic operations errors, and careless errors. Also, there were two types of learning obstacles experienced by students in the calculus course: epistemological obstacles and didactic obstacles. Epistemological obstacles related to conceptual errors, limited understanding of concepts, and errors in analyzing questions. While didactic obstacles related to difficulties in understanding teaching materials and inaccuracy of teaching methods. Further research is needed to overcome learning obstacles that occur in the form of developing appropriate learning materials according to the abilities and characteristics of students and applying appropriate learning models and methods.

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to determine the effect of the Model-Eliciting Activities (MEAs) approach towards the students’ mathematical communication skills. This research is a quasi-experimental study by the nonequivalent posttest-only control group design. This research population was the eighth-grade students in SMP Negeri 2 Sungai Penuh that consisted of seven groups. The sample in this study consisted of two groups, namely VIII C as an experimental group and VIII D as a control group selected by cluster random sampling technique. In the experimental group, the MEAs approach was done while the control group was done with conventional learning. The research instrument used to measure students’ mathematical communication skills was a subjective test. The data were analyzed using the independent t-test. The results of data analysis showed that there is an effect of MEAs approach towards the students’ mathematical communication skills. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of Auditory, Intellectually, and Repetition (AIR) approach through students mathematical problem solving ability with mathematical word problems.This study used quantitative approach with experiment method. The research design was posttest-only control group. The population was all of eighth grade students in MTsN 2 Kota Sungai Penuh. Two samples were choosen with draw. Conventional method was implemented in control group, while AIR approach was implemented in experiment group. The instrument in this study was students mathematical problem solving ability with story questions test that the test items was analyzed first. The instrument was given in the end oflearning process in both groups. The result of the data analysis was obtained that there was an effect of AIR approach through students mathematical problem solving ability with mathematical word problems.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk desian learning trajectory yang valid dan praktis untuk mendukung pemahaman siswa dalam memfaktorkan persamaan kuadrat dengan menggunakan blok aljabar. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah design research. Design research ini melalui beberapa tahapan yaitu: 1) Preliminary Design yang mencakup penyusunan hypotethical learning trajectory (HLT); 2) Design Experiment yang mencakup pelaksanaan pembelajaran berdasarkan HLT yang telah dirancang; dan 3) Retropective Analysis, yaitu membandingkan HLT yang dilaksanakan. Pengembangan HLT menjadi learning trajectory diperoleh melalui dokumentsi, observasi dan wawancara dengan guru dan siswa untuk mengklarifikasi dan mengkonfirmasi alur belajar. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas IX C MTsN 6 Kerinci yang berjumlah 20 siswa untuk teaching expriment. Sedangkan pilot experiment adalah siswa kelas IX MTsN 6 Kerinci yang dipilih sebanyak 6 siswa dengan 3 yang mempunyai kemampuan yang berbeda-berbeda yang dipilih oleh guru yaitu 2 siswa berkemampuan tinggi, 2 siswa berkemampuan sedang, dan 2 orang berkemampuan rendah. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa desian pembelajaran yang disusun dapat mengembangkan aktivitas belajar siswa dalam memecahkan masalah matematika serta kemampuan konsep siswa tentang memfaktorkan persamaan kuadrat melalui blok aljabar. Siswa dapat menemukan konsep persamaan kuadrat dengan baik serta dapat mempresentasikan hasil pemecahan masalahnya.

Abstract

Pengembangan e-modul mata kuliah kalkulus berbasis blended learning untuk mahasiswa Jurusan Tadris Matematika IAIN Kerinci menjadi fokus penelitian ini. Penelitian ini dilakukan karena terdapatnya hambatan didaktis khususnya untuk bahan ajar sebesar 64% yang menjadikan mahasiswa kesulitan untuk belajar. Pengembangan e-modul berbasis blended learning bertujuan menghasilkan e-modul yang dapat dikategorikan valid dan praktis agar dapat digunakan oleh mahasiswa. ADDIE merupakan desain dari penelitian dan pengembangan yang dilakukan. 30 orang menjadi subjek penelitian yang berasal dari mahasiswa jurusan tadris matematika IAIN Kerinci yang sudah dan sedang mengontrak mata kuliah kalkulus. Data diperoleh melalui teknik pemberian angket validitas dan angket praktikalitas lalu data dianalisis dengan cara deskriptif kualitatif untuk mendeskripsikan saran para ahli serta analisis kuantitatif untuk mengolah data hasil angket. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa e-modul berbasis blended learning pada mata kuliah kalkulus valid dan praktis.The focus of this research is the development of a blended learning-based calculus course e-module for students of the Mathematics Tadris Department at IAIN Kerinci. This research was carried out because there were didactic barriers, especially for teaching materials of 64%, which made it difficult for students to learn. The development of e-modules based on blended learning aims to produce e-modules that can be categorized as valid and practical so that students can use them. ADDIE is the design of the research and development carried out. 30 people who became the research subjects came from students majoring in mathematics at IAIN Kerinci who had and were currently contracting calculus courses. The data were obtained by administering validity and practicality questionnaires. Then, the data were analyzed using a qualitative descriptive method to describe the advice of experts and quantitative analysis to process the results of the questionnaire data. The results of this study obtained e-modules based on blended learning in valid and practical calculus courses.
