Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the internet skills of students. The method used was a survey with an exploratory research design. The research sample consisted of 166 students. The research instrument was adapted (Van Deursen et al., 2016) which is composed of 5 indicators, namely: (1) operational internal skills; (2) formal internet skills; (3) informational internet skills; (4) communicational internet skills; and (5) content creation internet skills. The results showed that students had good internet skills, including operational, formal, communicational, and informational skills. Nevertheless, it was necessary to develop creative skills so that students are more productive in creating or developing content in a digital environment. In addition, there was a positive relationship between operational and communicational skills and con-tent creation skills. Thus, it can be concluded that overall, students have good basic internet skills. However, further research is needed to find out how these variables affect other variables.

Abstract

This community service activity is motivated by the weak understanding of elementary school teachers in HOTS-oriented learning. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct training in designing thematic learning that is oriented towards HOTS. The training is carried out by presenting information, holding responses and group discussions on previously informed material and holding HOTS-based learning tools preparation exercises. The training was attended by elementary school teachers in District of Pesawaran. Based on the results of observations and written tests, the teachers were active in following the material presentation, discussion and preparation of HOTS learning tools. In addition, teachers' understanding has improved. This is evidenced by the pretest and posttest n-gain values of 0.09. However, the increase is not significant. Thus, it can be concluded that the participants' conceptual understanding of HOTS-oriented learning increased. This increase occurred because the previous participants did not really understand the true meaning of HOTS-oriented learning. Through this activity, participants get more detailed and easily accepted knowledge because in addition to presenting the material, the implementer also provides guidance on the development of learning designs. However, there is a need for ongoing technical guidance related to its implementation in classroom learning both online and face-to-face.

Abstract

The problem of the research is the low critical thinking skill of high level students at Elementary School State 1 Fajar Mulia. The research aims to determine the effect of online gaming habits on students’ critical thinking. The research type was a quantitative with an ex-post facto method. The population consisted of 105 students and the samples were 53 of them using a probability technique sampling of proportionate stratified random sampling. The data collection technique used questionnaires and test. The data were analyzed by using a linier regression formula. The results showed that there was an effect of online gaming habits on the critical thinking skill of high level students at Elementary School State 1 Fajar Mulia with the category “low”. It means that the online gaming habits is one of the factors positively affecting on the critical thinking skill of high level students  at Elementary School

Abstract

The profession as a teacher is required to have the ability to write scientific papers. This is stated in the Regulation of the Minister for Empowerment of State Apparatus and Bureaucratic Reform No. 16 of 2009 concerning Teacher's Functional Positions and Credit Scores. In addition, writing scientific papers can be a medium for sharing knowledge related to educational innovation. Therefore, the purpose of this activity is to increase the interest, knowledge, and skills of teachers in writing scientific papers. This community service activity was carried out with a target of 20 elementary school teachers in Metro City. This training activity has 2 stages, the presentation of material about writing scientific papers and the practice of writing scientific papers. Based on the data from the implementation, the training went well. However, there are obstacles to its implementation, namely: at the pretest and post-test stages in the form of an internet connection. In addition, this training was quite effective in increasing participants' knowledge of scientific writing with an n-gain of 0.303. The results of this activity become a reference for policymakers to organize teacher improvement programs in scientific writing and publications. Hal ini tercantum dalam Peraturan Menteri Pendayagunaan Aparatur Negara dan Reformasi Birokrasi No. 16 Tahun 2009 tentang Jabatan Fungsional Guru dan Angka Kreditnya. Selain itu, menulis karya tulis ilmiah dapat menjadi media berbagi ilmu terkait inovasi pendidikan. Oleh karena itu, tujuan dari pelaksanaan kegiatan ini adalah untuk meningkatkan minat, pengetahuan dan keterampilan guru dalam penulisan karya ilmiah. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini dilakukan di Kota Metro dengan sasaran 20 guru SD yang ada di Kota Metro. Kegiatan pelatihan ini memiliki 2 tahapan, pemaparan materi tentang penulisan karya ilmiah dan praktik penulisan karya tulis ilmiah. Berdasarkan data hasil pelaksanaan, pelatihan berjalan dengan baik. Meskipun demikian, terdapat kendala dalam pelaksanaannya, yaitu: pada tahap pretest dan posttest berupa koneksi internet. Selain itu, pelatihan ini cukup efektif dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan peserta tentang karya tulis ilmiah dengan n-gain sebesar 0,303. Hasil dari kegiatan ini menjadi rujukan bagi pemegang kebijakan untuk menyelenggarakan program peningkatan guru dalam penulisan karya tulis ilmiah dan publikasi.DOI: https://doi.org/10.23960/rp/v2i1.hal.81-86

Abstract

Abstract: Integrated STEM 3.0 Approach to Enhance Critical Thinking Skills: An Empirical Evidence. Objectives: This study aimed to examine the effect of the STEM 3.0 approach assisted by real material and virtual simulation to enhance the CTS. Methods: The research method used Quasi-Experimental Designs with Matching-Only Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The subjects of this study were high school students of Class XI in Surabaya. Findings: Based on the research data, the increase in the CTS of students in the 2 experimental classes was classified as moderate with an average n-gain value of students in class A2 of 0.69 and class A5 of 0.63 while the increase in CTS in the control class was classified as moderate with a lower value (a score of 0.36). Based on the results of statistical tests, there is a significant difference between the experimental class and the control class. Conclusion: Thus, it is concluded that the integrated STEM 3.0 approach can enhance the CTS.Keywords: integrated STEM 3.0, CTS, real material, virtual simulations.Abstrak: Pendekatan STEM 3.0 Terintegrasi untuk meningkatkan Keterampilan Berpikir Kritis: Suatu Bukti Empirik. Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh pendekatan STEM 3.0 yang dibantu dengan materi nyata dan simulasi virtual untuk meningkatkan CTS. Metode: Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Quasi-Experimental Designs with Matching-Only Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa SMA kelas XI. Temuan: Berdasarkan data penelitian, peningkatan CTS siswa pada 2 kelas eksperimen tergolong sedang dengan rata-rata nilai n-gain siswa kelas A2 sebesar 0,69 dan kelas A5 sebesar 0,63 sedangkan peningkatan CTS pada siswa kelas A2 sebesar 0,69 dan kelas A5 sebesar 0,63. kelas kontrol tergolong sedang dengan nilai lebih rendah (skor 0,36). Berdasarkan hasil uji statistik, terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Abstract

Abstract The research purpose was to implement of the STEM 4 0 approach in improving student CT. This study used a quasi-experimental design with one group pretest - posttest design. The learning integrated 4 STEM components to improve students’ CT. Participants were elementary school teacher education students at state universities in Lampung Province. The test instrument is at the cognitive level C4 and C6 which refers to Bloom's Taxonomy. Based on research data, it is stated that in learning with the STEM 4.0 approach, there are activities to understand the concept of learning material (Science) by integrating everyday life phenomena (Mathematics) and supported by learning media (Technology). Furthermore, there are learning activities in the form of practice activities in solving a problem in groups and making simple products by applying the concepts contained in the learning materials. Through this treatment, CT participants increased with male CT participants being higher than female. Keywords: computational thinking, STEM approach, pre-service elementary school teacher. Abstrak Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengimplementasikan pendekatan STEM 4.0 dalam meningkatkan CT siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain eksperimen semu dengan one group pretest – posttest design. Pembelajaran mengintegrasikan 4 komponen STEM untuk meningkatkan CT siswa. Instrumen tes berada pada level kognitif C4 dan C6 mengacu pada Taksonomi Bloom. Berdasarkan data penelitian disebutkan bahwa dalam pembelajaran dengan pendekatan STEM 4.0 terdapat kegiatan memahami konsep materi pembelajaran (IPA) dengan mengintegrasikan fenomena kehidupan sehari-hari (Matematika) dan didukung oleh media pembelajaran (Teknologi). Selanjutnya terdapat kegiatan pembelajaran berupa kegiatan praktik dalam memecahkan suatu masalah secara berkelompok dan membuat produk sederhana dengan menerapkan konsep-konsep yang terdapat dalam materi pembelajaran.
