Abstract

This research was intended (1) to explain the effectiveness of the use of Oral Situational Language Teaching method in teaching Prepositions, and (2) to find out the most difficult Preposition to be mastered by the first year students at SMP Negeri 33 Makassar. This research used a pre-experimental method. The research applied a purposive sampling technique. The population of this research was the first year students of SMP Negeri 33 Makassar. The seventh grades' total population was 324 students, and a number of samples were 36 students class (IA). The instrument used to collect the data was in multiple choice and essay test which consisted of pre-test and post-test. The variable of this research used two variables, namely: dependent and independent variable. Dependent variable is the students’ understanding about prepositions and independent variable is the Oral-Situational language teaching method. The research findings were that Oral-Situational Teaching Method improved teaching grammar especially for prepositions at the first year students of SMP Negeri 33 Makassar. It was supported by the increase of the students mean score in teh post-test (6.8) as it was classified into good category; it is better than the pre-test in which the students mean score was only (5.6) as it was classified into fairly good category, and the kinds of the prepositions through Oral-Situational teaching method in teaching preposition was more difficult to used preposition of place. The t-test value (6.52) was greater than t-table valuable (2.045). The result of data analysis indicated that there was a significant development of the students’ prepositions by using Oral-Situational Language Teaching Method. Based on the facts, it was concluded that the use of Oral-Situational Language Teaching Method at the first year students of SMP Negeri 33 Makassar was very effective and the students’ difficulties to learn preposition were decreasing or minimalized.

Abstract

The application of problem-based learning is a style of methodology that puts the idea of learning from facts and looking at real-world problems into practice. In order to examine mediated communication, this study used a qualitative ex experimental design using qualitative techniques. This method, known as the "qualitative experiment," makes use of in-depth interviews and focus groups under randomized stimulus circumstances that are commonly found in experimental research. In this work, observational data collecting and document analysis were the primary methods of data acquisition. This study intends to examine how problem-based learning is used in online English learning activities. Highlights from the approach's implementation initiatives include: 1) The concept grasp of the student regarding the subject matter; and 2) the student's critical thinking. These findings suggest that the qualities of the Problem Based Learning approach, namely the student's independence and social competency, had emerged.

Abstract

The use of technology in learning English-reading  skills has grown rapidly. One such technology is the computer-aided learning media. The use of computer media in the field of education has many advantages as they are easier to access, disseminate and store. The aim of present study is to investigate the impact of computer assisted language learning (CALL) technology on Indonesian learners' reading skills. This study applied quantitative research. The results of study found that the use of information technology in learning is marked by the interaction between students and materials through internet technology, the existence of programmed teaching, and flexibility in the process for learning both in terms of time and place.  It can be concluded that it is very possible for us to be easily literate through various media; with this we can improve the quality of reading.

Abstract

Di era globalisasi ini Bahasa Inggris memiliki peranan yang sangat penting mulai anak-anak sampai dewasa/orang tua. TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) merupakan test yang digunakan untuk mengetahui tingkat kemampuan seseorang dalam berbahasa Inggris. Test ini ditujukan bagi orang yang tidak menggunakan bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa ibu. Umumnya, test ini digunakan sebagai salah satu prasyarat bagi seseorang yang ingin melanjutkan studi atau bekerja di suatu negara yang menggunakan Bahasa Inggris dalam komunikas sehari-hari. Di Indonesia, TOEFL bahkan digunakan juga untuk: Persyaratan bagi penerimaan karyawan baru di instansi pemerintah, perusahaan pemerintah dan swasta. Syarat penerimaan mahasiswa baru untuk jenjang S2 dan S3 dan Syarat pengajuan beasiswa, baik dari pemerintah maupun swasta. Tujuan PKM ini adalah Pelatihan TOEFL Sebagai Pengembangan Soft Skill mahasiswa APOTEKER. Pengenalan dan cara menjawab tes TOEFL sangat diperlukan oleh mahasiswa tingkat akhir di sebuah universitas agar mereka dapat melanjutkan pendidikan ke jenjang yang lebih tinggi dan bisa mendepatkan pekerjaan yang layak. Hasil kegiatan PKM berupa bahwa bahwa mahasiswa APOTEKER menyelesaikan tes TOEFL dengan baik, artinya, mereka memiliki soft skill yang baik pula. Soft skill merupakan keterampilan untuk mengindetifikasi, menganalisa dan memecahkan masalah dengan kreatif dan berfikir logis sehingga mereka dapat mengambil keputusan dengan baik. Sebagai kesimpulan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat (PKM) yang dilaksanakan memberikan dampak yang positif bagi mahasiswa tingkat akhir APOTEKER

Abstract

The coffee shop is a culinary business that is growing rapidly in Palopo City. Each coffee shop has its own characteristics and advantages which are used as an attraction to consumers. The purpose of this research is to determine the priority order of consumers in choosing a coffee shop in Palopo City. This research is a quantitative descriptive study with a sample of 3 respondents using a purposive sampling technique. In the data collection process, this study used a questionnaire to collect information in the form of respondents' preferences for the alternatives and criteria being compared. The research method used is the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) which is an analytical method that uses a series of matrix operations to determine the priority order of alternatives based on several criteria with a series of matrix operations to obtain a decision. The results showed that the priority order of the respondents in choosing a coffee shop was based on the factors of variance and taste, location convenience, price affordability, and quality of service, while the priority order of the selected coffee shops was: (1) Kopikoma (38.63% ), (2) Etika (29.79%), (3) Epilog (10.52%), (4) Janji Jiwa (10.44%), and (5) Figura (9.62%).

Abstract

Education is a systematic and structured process aimed at acquiring knowledge and developing abilities. The acquisition of English language proficiency necessitates the utilization of various methodologies and strategies, as it is a skill-oriented form of education. Technological advancements have significantly impacted contemporary education. The utilization of technology is a contemporary approach in addressing the obstacles encountered in the process of acquiring proficiency in the English language. In the realm of English language acquisition, Duolingo continually strives to reinvent language learning methods through its mobile phone platform. Therefore, the objective of this research was to identify of Student’s perception in learning vocabulary through Duolingo Apps to the 1st semester of management class at STIE WIRA BHAKTI MAKASSAR University batch 2023 who were currently or had previously used Duolingo. Using questionnaires to collect data in a qualitative descriptive, the findings showed that students' perceptions of learning vocabulary through Duolingo are overwhelmingly favorable, with an average score of 92,37%. To sum up, the use Duolingo was very effective in learning vocabulary because the application is simple to use, entertaining, fun, and free of advertisements.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the types of revenue of Palopo City in supporting Palopo City Regional Expenditures. The variables studied consist of local original income, balancing funds, regional loans, other legal revenues, regional expenditure consisting of Operational Expenditures, Capital Expenditures and Unexpected Shopping and others. In this research, the Qualitative Descriptive Method was used.The results of the research show that regional revenues such as PAD, balancing funds and regional financial assistance have increased every year and the realization of regional expenditure has increased every year. Regional spending is greater than revenue, so there is a budget deficit.
