Abstract

The aims of this study are to find implicature of criticism utterances, maxim, and politeness strategies of the criticizing utterances in Troy and King Arthur movies manuscript. The type of this study is a qualitative study. The data source of this study is Aristocratic movies manuscript. The methods of collecting data are documentation the movies manuscript and observation of the utterances, gathering data criticism utterances, coding the data and finding criticism utterances implied. This study shows the variety of implicatures, cooperative principles, and politeness pattern of criticizing utterances. The implicature of criticism utterances are mocking, contradiction, order, disappointment, forbid, satire, anger, and advice. The second analysis is cooperative principles by Grice. There are maxim of clarify and quantity. The politenesses of strategies are bald on record, positive and negative politeness.

Abstract

A textbook should reflect the curriculum being applied. The compability of the philosophical foundation between curriculum and textbook is needed to achieve educational goals. This study aims to find the philosophical foundation of the English in Mind Students' Book and the compability of the philosophical foundation between the curriculum and the textbook. This study is an inferential content analysis. The object is the English in Mind Students' Book. The procedure is the data making; physical and referential units, sampling; six chapters, data recording, data reduction, and withdrawal of inference.  This study used semantic validity and test-retest reliability. This study used analytic constructs as a reference for the meaning of data to be analyzed using conceptual domain analysis techniques. Based on data analysis, there are six philosophies namely philosophy of perennialism, progressivism, essentialism, existentialism, humanism, and social reconstruction in the English in Mind Students' book while there are six philosophies namely essentialism, humanism, social reconstruction, idealism, progressivism, and perennialism in curriculum 2013. There is a difference in philosophical foundation but this does not reduce the purpose and content of curriculum and textbooks. Both emphasize critical thinking skills, problem solving, communication and collaboration, creative and innovative and character development for students.

Abstract

This study aims to determine students' perception of the use of Schoology as an online assessment in the English classroom and the benefits of using Schoology. This study uses a mixed methods approach that combines qualitative and quantitative data. Collecting data using questionnaires and interviews. Questionnaires were used to determine student perceptions using a five-point Likert Scale. Formal interviews were randomly assigned to 10 students. Questionnaire data were processed with SPSS version 21 and then triangulated and analyzed. Meanwhile, to determine the criteria for Respondent Achievement Level using the formula used by the Arikunto concept. The results of this study indicate that students have positive perceptions about assessment in English class through Schoology. Students are interested in using online assessments because online assessments are better than paper assessments. Students are attracted to the Schoology application because of its flexibility and ease of use. However, some students also stated that the use of online assessments in Schoology also presented a negative perception. Students can face problems with internet access, large data, and difficulty in managing time to do tests.

Abstract

Facing the 21st century, Indonesia needs human resources who have the creativity and skills to produce output in the form of innovative work. Therefore, school programs are needed to facilitate students in learning with creative skills to become problem solvers in the future. Against this background, this study aims to describe aspects, strategies, and supporting and inhibiting factors in fostering creativity through science extracurriculars at SD Muhammadiyah Pakel Program Plus. This research is categorized as qualitative descriptive research. The main focus of this research is the implementation of the extracurricular Science Club in instilling creativity in elementary school students. Data collection was carried out by observation techniques, interviews, and documentation. The research subjects were the principal, 2 science extracurricular teachers, and 6 students. Data validity is carried out through a triangulation process, both techniques and sources. Data analysis used Miles and Huberman's inductive interactive data model. The results showed that the inculcation of creativity through science extracurriculars at SD Muhammadiyah Pakel Program Plus was seen from 1) Aspects of creativity instilled, namely (1) Cognitive (talent) in the form of fluent, flexible, original, and detailed thinking. Skills. (2) Affective (non-aptitude) in the form of curiosity and being challenged. 2) Strategy to foster creativity with 4 stages, namely personal, process, driver, and product. 3) The supporting factors are mental stimulus, environmental conditions, and the role of the teacher. The inhibiting factors are evaluation, reward, and competition.

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to describe mathematics self-regulated learning of elementary school teacher education students. This type of research used qualitative approach. The subject research is taken from 2nd semester student’s primary school teacher education of 2020 academic year. Instrument used in this research is questionnaire. The questionnaire is used to know the student's self-regulated in mathematics learning with six factors namely (a) independence of others, (b) have self-confidence, (c) behaving dicipline, (d) having a sense of responsibility, (e) behaving based on their own initiative, and (f) perform self-control. Based on the results of the research, it can be concluded that self-regulated learning though edmodo is in the high category.

Abstract

Artikel ini mendeskripsikan mengenai peran budaya sekolah dalam meningkatkan karakter peduli lingkungan sekolah dasar. Adapun topik yang dibahas dalam artikel ini adalah mengenai karakter peduli lingkungan siswa yang masih kurang sehingga memerlukan peran budaya sekolah dalam meningkatkan karakter peduli lingkungan siswa. Hasil dari artikel ini berupa peran budaya sekolah dalam meningkatkan karakter peduli lingkungan dapat dilakukan dengan melakukan pembiasaan yang positif pada siswa misalnya dengan memberikan program kegiatan seperti bersih lingkungan, sekolah memberikan sarana tempat pembuangan sampah dan tempat cuci tangan, agar siswa rajin mencuci tangan setelah melakukan aktivitas, pembiasaan hemat energi, melakukan pembiasaan memisahkan jenis sampah organik dan anorganik.

Abstract

There are still disciplinary violations that occur at the elementary school (SD) level. As was the case in class V at SDN Serut Baru Gedangsari, there were still some students who did not practice discipline, both in terms of time, attitude, and enforcing rules. From observations, it was found that students did not come on time, did not use the proper attributes and violated existing regulations. Therefore, teachers need to have a strategy to overcome this. In order to find out the teacher's strategy in shaping the disciplinary character of fifth grade students at SDN Serut Baru Gedangsari, we conducted a qualitative research to describe the teacher's strategy in shaping the disciplinary character of students. This research was conducted at SDN Serut Baru with the research subject being a class V teacher using the interview method.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the perception of Elementary School Teacher Education Program (PGSD) students regarding the use of the SiPeDar Learning Platform in the academic environment. The research method employed was a survey using a questionnaire as the primary instrument. The respondents in this study were active PGSD students who used SiPeDar in their learning processes. The main findings of this research indicate that 90% of PGSD students at UST Yogyakarta have a good understanding of SiPeDar usage and feel comfortable operating it. Factors such as the availability of technological resources and support from instructors also have a positive impact on students' perceptions of the quality and effectiveness of SiPeDar, with 95% acknowledging this influence. Furthermore, a significant majority of students expressed satisfaction with the use of SiPeDar in the learning process. The results of this research can provide valuable insights to educational institutions and developers of similar learning platforms to enhance the use of SiPeDar and support more effective distance learning in the future.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memaparkan penerapan budaya positif pada siswa oleh pihak sekolah di SD Negeri Jurug Bantul. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa ada kegiatan rutin yang dilakukan guru dan siswa kelas IV dalam menerapkan budaya tersebut, seperti menanamkan kebiasaan positif seperti berdoa sebelum dan sesudah pembelajaran, membuat aturan dan kesepakatan bersama di dalam kelas, aturan tidak boleh berkata kasar atau jorok, menyanyikan lagu wajib nasional dan daerah untuk menumbuhkan rasa cinta tanah air, pengamalan asmaul husna setiap hari jum’at, melibatkan siswa pada saat upacara bendera dan ekstrakurikuler, menuntut siswa berpikir kritis dalam mengemukaan ide-ide atau gagasan dalam pemecahan masalah, melakukan praktik-praktik untuk mengembangkan kreativitas dalam pembelajaran.
