Dalam proses belajar mengajar, pendidik dalam hal ini dosen membutuhkan media pengajaran. Salah satu media pengajaran yang tebaru adalah buku elektronik ( E-book). E-book berupa CD yang berisikan materi / bahan belajaran, tugas-tugas yangdisusun oleh dosen terkait mata kuliah yang bersangkutan. E-book dapat dipergunakan di dalam kelas ataupun dipergunakan sendiroleh mahas iswa di rumah ataupun di rental komputer. E-book dipergunakan untuk pertama kalinya di jurusan Bhasa Inggris STKIPPGRI Sumatera Barat pada mata pelajaran Cross Cultural Undersatanding (CCU). Penelitian ini adalah penelitian descriptive. Sampedari penelitian ini adalah Mahasiswa jurusan Bahasa Inggris tingkat II lokal G yang mengambil mata kulaih CCU. Dari penelitian indidapat bahwa mahasiswa mengalami kesulitan dalam menggunakan E-book karena tidak tersedianya laboratorium computer yang dilengkapi internet di jurusan Bahasa Inggris. Selain itu masih banyaknya mahasiswa yang belum mengetahi cara menggoperasikan computer dan internet.

Abandoned children is one of the problems faced by Padang city. Many reasons make the number of abanded children still high. Although, the news about abandoned children have been posted in newspaper, magazine even online and social media, but seen that they just inform in partially. Therefore the researchers conducted a project on presenting the data on the picture of abanded children in padang in form of radio feature. It is expected that this radio feature can give useful information about the reason why they “work on the street”, the life that they run everyday. Hence it is hope that it can touch the human care of people and government to find the best solution for them. The data was gotten from the result of interview by using recorder tools. Then Cool Edit Pro 2.1 application was used to edit and mix the voice . Moreover this project applied the stages of making radio feature likes pre-production, production and post-production. The result of thisl project were in form of audio, radio feature with 15 minutes duration, and the English script with 756 word.

This Research and Development (R&D) study discussed about the development of feature radio as the model in making radio broadcasting product for English Department students of State Polytechnic of Padang. The aims of this research is to develop an appropriate model of feature radio that can be used as the standard model in conducting final project. The development was carried out through several steps, namely; needs analysis, product development, product validation, and revision. The needs analysis data were taken from syllabus, academic data, and interview. Meanwhile, the product validation were taken from experts’ judgment. The data were collected through analyzing syllabus, conducting interviews, and giving question-naires. Every educational institution requires its own characteristics to define its particular competence and skills of its graduates. By having the specification, the institution rviil help the students to find their best job. So that, it is important to provide the students rvith some subjects that can give them the practical experiences instead of provide them only with theoretical understanding. Therefore Politeknik Negeri Padang implements and adopts some specific subjects as a feature/ identity in its curriculum. The aim of this article is describing the competence and activities in Radio Broadcasting class which is a compulsory subject for students of English Department Politeknik Negeri Padang. Therefore, it may be used to improve students' speaking and writing skills. This article explores possible activities that are usually conducted by students when they are taking this subject to improve their productive skills (speaking and writing). In conducting the class. the teacher asks the students to make some writing task and broadcast it in radio studio. Hence the students can get the real environment to practice their productive skills.

PEMBELAJARAN ENGLISH PUBLIC SPEAKING BERBASIS PROJECT-BASED LEARNING Difiani Apriyanti; Sumira Sumira; Sariani Sariani

Learning Public Speaking does not only include good speaking English but also gives attractive performance. However, this is not easy due to the fearness and anxiety with various symptoms such as a rapid heartbeat, wet palms, or vibrating sounds. In order to minimize the obstacles, Project Based Learning (PBL) is designed. The students are assigned to be public speakesr sharing the information about agency programs to public. The project was eventually documented in the form of videos. To find out the success of the learning, a qualitative descriptive study was conducted on the video project. The subject of the research was a female student whose public speaking videos were analyzed. The sample was selected purposively because women have greater public speaking anxiety than men do. As the result, at first, the students did not have problems in making the text (content) to be presented, but it was problematic in the delivery. The first video shows public speaking fear that has not been resolved so that delivery occurs at a low level. Secondly, while in the second video it shows self confidence resulting a high delivery capability. It can be concluded that having one real experience as a public speaker makes the student able to overcome public speaking fear or anxiety.

This study aimed to describe the development of a blended learning model in the Writing in Media course in the face of the 4.0 era. This study uses the ADDIE model which is limited to the analysis stage. This study uses the following methods: observation with a tick observation technique, and notes; documentation with document analysis techniques; and survey with a questionnaire technique. Research data in the form of curriculum, SAP, and teaching methods. The results of the study indicate that (1) the curriculum must be revised to meet the knowledge needs of students and stakeholders, (2) the components and features of news must be mastered by students because many stakeholders need skills to work, (3) the application of a mixed learning model of writing for course media improve student skills and grades.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan pengembangan model blended learning pada mata kuliah Menulis di Media dalam menghadapi era 4.0. Penelitian ini menggunakan model ADDIE yang dibatasi pada tahap analisis. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode: observasi dengan teknik observasi centang, dan catat; dokumentasi dengan teknik analisis dokumen; dan survei dengan teknik kuesioner. Data penelitian berupa kurikulum, SAP dan metode pengajaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) kurikulum harus direvisi untuk memenuhi kebutuhan pengetahuan mahasiswa dan pemangku kepentingan, (2) komponen dan fitur berita harus dikuasai oleh mahasiswa karena banyak pemangku kepentingan membutuhkan keterampilan untuk bekerja, (3) penerapan model pembelajaran campuran menulis untuk media kursus meningkatkan keterampilan dan nilai mahasiswa.

Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini telah dilaksanakan oleh tim dosen dari Jurusan Bahasa Inggris Politeknik Negeri Padang yang terdiri dari lima orang dosen dan ditujukan untuk membantu masyarakat di Nagari Bayau, Maninjau, Sumatera Barat. Pada kegiatan pengabdian yang dilaksanakan pada tanggal 27 Juli 2021 ini, tim pengabdian memberikan pengenalan dan pembekalan mengenai penggunaan media sosial untuk meningkatkan promosi usaha kecil dan menengah kepada 25 orang pelaku usaha UMKM. Tujuan akhir dari pelatihan ini adalah untuk memberikan pengetahuan dan keahlian dalam menghasilkan konten promosi untuk media sosial baik berupa konten foto maupun konten bahasa yang digunakan agar mereka mampu meningkatkan volume penjualan produk UMKMnya.
