Abstract

This research aimed at analyzing student critical thinking skill using practical work method on Thermochemistry lesson. It was conducted at the first semester of the eleventh grade of Islamic Senior High School of Diniyah Puteri Pekanbaru in the Academic Year of 2018/2019. It was using descriptive method and it was pre-experiment with one shot case study design directing to get the information about critical thinking skill appeared, to see student critical thinking skill that could be developed through practical work method on Thermochemistry lesson. The subjects of this research were the eleventh-grade students at the first semester in the Academic Year of 2018/2019. Purposive sampling technique was used in this research, and it was obtained a class comprising 20 students, and they were divided into 4 groups. Observation, interview, and documentation were the techniques of collecting the data. Final data analysis of observation sheet showed student critical thinking skill that the total percentage was 77.09% and it was on good category.

Abstract

Along with the increasing need for non-perishable foodstuffs, hazardous chemical food additives (FA) such as borax and formalin are widely used in the food industry, such as in making wet noodles, meatballs, rice cake, tofu, and others. This dangerous chemical FA is usually used as a food preservative, even though these chemicals are poisonous and dangerous to human health so that their use is strictly prohibited by the government. In order to anticipate the wider negative impact of the use of hazardous chemical FA added to foodstuffs, it is necessary to carry out counseling and socialization activities regarding healthy food free of hazardous chemical FA by mastering the technology for identifying food additives and handling them. This activity uses a method of mentoring the community learning process in the form of counseling and training. The target of the socialization activity was the majelis taklim of Babussalam Mosque, Tampan District, Pekanbaru City. The overall implementation of the activity exceeded the desired target because 96% of the participants understood food additives, 83.3% understood tips on recovering healthy and hazardous FA-free food, and 84% were interested in making hazardous chemical FA detection tools.

Abstract

APPLICATION OF CABBAGE WASTE FERMENTATION TECHNOLOGY AS A NATURAL PRESERVATIVE IN POST-HARVEST HANDLING OF FISH IN FISHER GROUPS AT FISH AUCTION PLACE OF PURNAMA DUMAI. One of the solutions that can be used to preserve fish naturally economically and efficiently is to use cabbage waste. Cabbage (Brassica oleracea) is a well-known vegetable, widely produced, easy to obtain and cheap in price. The use of cabbage waste as a natural preservative for fresh fish is used to naturally preserve fish so that the misuse of preservatives that are harmful to the human body is no longer used.

Abstract

AbstractThis research was instigated by students’ difficulty at the tenth grade of State Senior High School 10 Pekanbaru in comprehending chemistry concept of Hydrocarbon Lesson that made them unable to achieve optimal learning achievement, thus a teaching lesson was required to guide them to comprehend the concept.  It was done by designing a teaching lesson in the form of handout Guided Inquiry based.  This research aimed at knowing the validity and practicality levels of handout Guided Inquiry based that was valid and practical.  It was a Research and Development (R&D) with 4D (four-D) model, modified by doing limited trials and removing disseminating step.  It was administered at State Senior High School 10 Pekanbaru.  The primary data were collected in this research through questionnaire.  Validity and practicality test questionnaires were the instruments of collecting the data.  The data obtained were analyzed by using Descriptive qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques.  The handout produced was tested, its validity level was 89.94% (very valid) and its practicality level was 76.50% (practical).  Based on these results, it could be identified that the handout tested was appropriate and practical to be an alternative teaching lesson for teachers in a school. Keywords: Handout, Guided Inquiry, Hydrocarbon

Abstract

This research was instigated by Chemistry subject that only had concepts, it did not connect the concepts to daily life.  This research aimed at knowing designing and testing Problem Based Learning based Macromedia Flash media on Hydrocarbon lesson and knowing the levels of validity and practicality of Problem Based Learning based Macromedia Flash media.  It was a Research and Development (R&D) with Borg and Gall development model.  It was administered at Islamic Integrated Senior High School of Al-Ittihad Pekanbaru.  The subjects of this research were material experts, media experts, Chemistry subject teachers, and the eleventh-grade students of Natural Science.  The object was Problem Based Learning based Macromedia Flash media on Hydrocarbon lesson.  Media could be proper, if it was valid and practical.  Validity percentage obtained from material experts was 93.30% (very valid), validity percentage obtained from media experts was 96% (very valid), practicality percentage obtained from chemistry subject teachers was 84.60% (very practical), and 84% students responded very well to overall design of Macromedia Flash media.  Based on these results, it could be identified that Problem Based Learning based Macromedia Flash media could be implemented in the next stage. Keywords:  Macromedia Flash Media, Problem Based Learning, Hydrocarbon

Abstract

AbstractThis research aimed at developing learning media using Lectora Ispire interactive multimedia on Buffer Solution lesson and knowing the levels of validity, practicality, and student response to the learning media developed. It was a Research and Development (R&D) with Luther development model that was limited to the fifth steptesting.  This research was administered at State Senior High School 9 Pekanbaru.  The subjects of this research were the lecturers, Chemistry subject teachers, and students.  The object was learning media using Lectora Ispire interactive multimedia on Buffer Solution lesson. Validation test questionnaire, practicality test questionnaire, student response test, and interview were the techniques of collecting the data. The data obtained then were analyzed by using qualitative and quantitative descriptive analysis techniques. The research findings showed that the media validity level was 90.5% with very valid criterion, the practicality level was 94.17% with very practical criterion, and student response to the learning media was 91.6% with very good criterion. Based on this research, it could be concluded that learning media using Lectora Ispire interactive multimedia on Buffer Solution lesson was very valid and practical, so it was proper to be used as learning media at school.Keywords : Learning Media, Lectora Inspire, Buffer SolutionAbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan media pembelajaran menggunakan multimedia interaktif Lectora Ispire pada materi larutan penyangga dan mengetahui tingkat validitas, kepraktisan, dan respon siswa terhadap media pembelajaran yang dikembangkan. Penelitian ini adalah Penelitian dan Pengembangan (R&D) dengan menggunakan model Luther sampai langkah kelima. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMA Negeri 9 Pekanbaru. Subjek penelitian ini adalah dosen, guru mata pelajaran Kimia, dan mahasiswa. Objek penelitian ini adalah media pembelajaran menggunakan multimedia interaktif Lectora Ispire pada materi larutan penyangga. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan Angket uji validasi, angket uji kepraktisan, tes respon siswa, dan wawancara. Data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis dengan menggunakan teknik analisis deskriptif kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tingkat validitas media sebesar 90,5% dengan kriteria sangat valid, tingkat kepraktisan 94,17% dengan kriteria sangat praktis, dan respon siswa terhadapmedia pembelajaran sebesar 91,6% dengan kriteria sangat baik.Media pembelajaran yang dikembangkan ini layak digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran di sekolah.Keywords : Media Pembelajaran, Lectora Inspire, Larutan Penyangga

Abstract

AbstractLess innovative learning media, especially on Chemistry learning, made students uninterested in the learning.  This research aimed at producing Nearpod based interactive learning media on Periodic System of the Elements lesson that was valid and practical based on the result of validity test by material and media experts, and practical test by chemistry teacher and students.  Research and Development (R&D) method was used in this research with 4D (Define, Design, Development, and Disseminate) development model.  This research was administered at State Islamic Senior High School 1 Pekanbaru.  The subjects of this research were material and media experts, teachers, and students.  The object was Nearpod based interactive learning media on Periodic System of the Elements lesson.  The validation result by media and material experts showed that the score was 95% with very valid criterion.  The result of teacher practicality test was 95.45% with very practical criterion, and the result of student practicality test was 93.27% with very practical criterion.  So that, Nearpod based interactive learning media on Periodic System of the Elements lesson could be used to support the learning.Keywords : Interactive Learning Media, Nearpod, Periodic System of the Elements

Abstract

Basically, students had critical thinking skills in learning such as questioning, hypothesizing, clarifying, observing, and interpreting.  In fact, these skills sometime were not developed well, so it was needed a method that was able to develop student critical thinking skills.  This research aimed at analyzing student critical thinking ability through virtual practical work method.  It was conducted in the eleventh grade of Natural Science one at Islamic Senior High School of Yaspika Karimun.  Descriptive method was used in this research with one shot case study design.  The samples were one of two classes, and Purposive sampling technique was used in this research.  Instruments of this research were essay test and observation sheet.  The data analysis results showed that the mean percentage of critical thinking ability of the eleventh-grade students of Natural Science 1 at Islamic Senior High School of Yaspika Karimun on Buffer Solution lesson was 74.34% with good category for test instrument, and the mean percentage of observation sheet instrument was 76.67% with good category.  Based on these findings, it could be concluded that student critical thinking skills with Virtual Practical Work method on Buffer Solution lesson was on good category.Keywords : Critical Thinking Ability, Virtual Practical Work Method, Buffer Solution

Abstract

AbstractThis research is constituted by the available practicum guides that have not been able to develop the ability of students to be active and independent during the learning process in the laboratory. This research aimed at knowing the validity and practicality levels of the Learning Cycle 5E-based practicum guide on Chemical Equilibriumlesson.  The research design used was a 4D model which was limited to 3 stages, namely Define, Design, and Develop.  This research was administered at State Senior High School 4 Pekanbaru.  The subjects of this research were practicum guide media design experts, learning material experts, chemistry subject teachers and teachers at State Senior High School 4 Pekanbaru.  The object was Learning Cycle 5E based practicum guide on Chemical Equilibriumlesson.  The data were obtained from a questionnaire based on paper.  Validity and practicality test questionnaires were the instruments for collecting data.  The data obtained were analyzed by using qualitative and quantitative descriptive analysis techniques.  Based on the practicum guide developed was tested valid with a percentage of 94% (very valid), and it was tested practical with a percentage of 89% (very practical) on the data, it could be concluded that Learning Cycle 5E based practicum guide on Chemical Equilibrium lesson was valid and practical, So that it could be a teacher teaching material at school. Keywords : Chemical Equilibrium, Learning Cycle 5E, Practicum Guide
