Abstract

Neem tree (Azadirachta indica) was found contain azadirachtion that can be used as an insecticide. Extraction of azadirachtin has been conducted in BEIK laboratory with neem seed collected from Madura and Ngawi, by using n-hexane, methanol petroleum ether and ethyl acetate as solvents. The experiment showed that n-hexane gave the best result in the extraction of neem seed from Madura, that was 20,36 °10. The neem extract then used to made Emulsifiable Concentrate (EC) formulation of insecticide. As a control, it was used neem oil from India.From the physico - chemical testing of formulation, is found that EC formulation of neem extract arc not give good result yet, compared then EC formulation that made from Indian neem oil.

Abstract

Sep[erti telah diketahui bensin bertimbal merupakan penghasil bahan berbahaya SPM dilingkungan pada sektor transportasi, dimana dilain pihak dapat menimbulkan banyak problem kesehatan seperti menurunnya IQ, kanker, cognitive effect dan sebagainya. Ternyata bensin tanpa timbal lebih efisien dalam penggunaan dan memelihara kualitas lingkungan.

Abstract

CO gas from exhaust gas emzsszon industry in large quantities about I 000 ppm is dangerous for human health, if it inhaled through respiratory organ, nerve system and blood. Research has been done for catch the emission gas from exhaust gas use sodium hidroxyde solution as absorber and is sprayed by designed equipment. The result shown that percentage of CO gas absorbed by NaOH solution is direct indicate to concentration of absorber solution. NaOH solution I 000 mg/I can absorb CO gas up to 85,7%.

Abstract

The combustion of wastes as a by product of polymer industry has been conducted in various ways such as natural combustion, stiring combustion, combustion with air injection or the combination of (he aboves. It was found that the process of combustion with air injection at furnace temperature > 260 °C gives the best result, i.e. it consumes less fuel and the smallest amount of remaining solids.

Abstract

Pada saat ini limbah adsorben bekas pada proses pemucatan minyak kelapa sawit yang berupa bentonit bekas belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal oleh industri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meminimisasi limbah tersebut dengan cara mengaktivasi ulang, sehingga dapat digunakan kembali untuk proses pemucatan minyak kelapa sawit. Proses aktivasi bentonit bekas dilakukan dengan 2 cara, yaitu pertama aktivasi secara pemanasan dan kedua aktivasi secara pengasaman lalu pemanasan. Variabel penelitian adalah suhu pemanasan, jenis asam dan konsentrasi asam. Berdasarkan data hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa proses aktivasi adsorben bekas yangterbaik adalah proses aktivasi dengan cara pengasaman lalu pemanasan dengan menggunakan asam sulfat 4 % serta suhu pemanasan 400° C selama 1 jam. Efektifitas penurunan warna pada proses pemucatan minyak kelapa sawit dengan menggunakan bentonit bekas hasil aktivasi ulang adalah 90 %.

Abstract

Senyawa-senyawa hidrokarbon yang mudah menguap (VOC) banyak digunakan sebagai bahan bakar cair, pelarut, dapat juga sebagai pencuci di bengkel ataupun pabrik, karena sifatnya yang mudah menguap keudara. Namun emisi yang ditimbulkannya dapat menyebabkan smog fotokimia,yang dapat menyebabkan pencemaran udara dan gangguan kesehatan manusia. Pengontrolan emisi dapat dilakukan dengan tehnologi penanggulangan polutan gas-gas, seperti absorpsi, adsorpsi kondensasi dan insinerasi, mengganti dengan bahan non voe atau dengan mencegah kebocoran dari konteiner

Abstract

The optimum combustion of solid waste from printing industry utilizing "Combustion Gas Cleaning System" unit is achieved at temperature 750 "C - 780 °C, 1,2 - 1,5 mm Hg/aqua pressure with diesel  consumption at 5. 7 kg/hr. It was found that the combustion process could reduce the solid waste total weight and volume up to 60 %. While the content of toxic materials and hazardous materials remain unchanged. Analysis on the weight of "heavy metal" was conducted prior to and after the combustion. The analysis comes up with result that the content of heavy metal in the waste is largerthan before the combustion. Thus means, that the content of heavy metal in solid waste is not affected by the above combustion process. The weight and volume of waste is greatly decreased, while heavy metal component is concentrated in residue.
