Abstract

In the era of Internet technology, new applications are developed everyday requiring continuous and seamless connections. This urges for access availability solutions to the new scenarios. One of the critical architecture is the Mobile Ad-Hoc Network Mobility (MANEMO). However, the integration of Ad-hoc and NEMO technologies came out with many complications like redundant tunnels and the existence of multiple Exit Routers. This paper presents a scheme to discover and select the optimum gateway to improve the robustness and the performance of the network irrespective of the used routing protocol.  The MANEMO Gateway discovery and selection scheme (MGDSS) extends the Tree Discovery Protocol and the Neighborhood Discovery protocol used by NEMO and Ad-Hoc to carry the necessary gateway selection parameters. To compare the effect of network’s size on the performance of the proposed scheme, the standard NEMO BSP and the Multi-homed MANEMO (M-MANEMO) approaches OPNET Modeler 14.5 was used. The results show that the average data packets dropped, the end-to-end delay and the throughput of the proposed MGDSS outperform those for the standard M-MANEMO and standard NEMO BSP.

Abstract

In next-generation wireless networks, a Multi-Mode Device (MMD) can be connected with available Radio Access Technology (RAT) in a Heterogeneous Wireless Network (HWN). The appropriate RAT selection is essential to achieve expected Quality of Service (QoS) in HWN. There are many factors to select an appropriate RAT in HWN including Data rate, Power consumption, Security, Network delay, Service price, etc. Nowadays, the MMDs are capable to handle with multiple types of services like voice, file downloading, video streaming. Considering numerous factors and multiple types of services, it is a great challenge for MMDs to select the appropriate RAT. A Multi-Attribute Decision Making (MADM) method to deal with numerous attributes to achieve the expected goal is Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS). This research utilized TOPSIS method to evaluate its proposed algorithm to choose the proper RAT for single and dual call services. The algorithm applies users' preference of a specific RAT that varies for diverse categories of calls. It also aggregates the assigned call weight and call priority to choose the RAT for group call admission for different scenarios. The highest closeness coefficient has been considered the appropriate networks among other networks. 100 call admission into three networks has been simulated and has been observed.

Abstract

Recent trend of living is getting modernized rapidly by the involvement of automatic systems. Within the aviation industry, automatic systems had become heavily reliable by the end of the nineteen centuries. The systems usually require controllable devices with desired control algorithm known as controller. Controllers can be replaced with, almost every mechanical automation aspect where, safety is a serious issue. But it is not easy to adapt a controller with a specific model at the beginning. It is important to predict the model before a controller works on the model and the controller parameters need to be adapted to get maximum efficiency. A 3-DOF (Three Degrees of Freedom) airframe model is an advanced benchmark model of real 3-DOF helicopter. It has the same uncommon model dynamics with nonlinearities, strong duel motor cross coupling system, uncertain characteristics, disturbances dependent, unmodeled dynamics and many more. The 3-DOF airframe model is a well-known platform for controller performance benchmarking. This research paper shows the development of an approximate prediction model of a Three Degrees of Freedom helicopter model and uses the proposed approximate model to observe the performance of an existent hybrid controller. The hybrid controller is the combination of two different controllers named Quantitative Feedback Theory (QFT) controller and Adaptive controller. To achieve the research objective, the proposed mathematical model of this airframe was used to develop transfer function and simulate with the hybrid controller in MATLAB. The performance of the controller based on the proposed heliframe model of 3-DOF helicopter have also been reported added within this paper.

Abstract

Vehicular Ad hoc networks (VANETs) combined with vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure communications can be considered as the most suitable technology to enable ITS (Intelligent Transport System) application bestowed upon travellers with mobility, safety and productivity with human comfort. As a delay sensitive ITS application, handoff delays and packet losses are critical parameters for maintaining seamless connectivity in VANET solution. During handoff, when mobile node (vehicle) is acquiring new CoA (care of address), packets directed towards that node are lost; because it’s old identity is no more valid. So in high speed dynamic vehicular environment the number of frequent handoffs would produce delay beyond the normal limit. Therefore, it is very important to resolve the issues of handoff delay and packet losses in VANET environment. As a solution, a domain based RHD-NV (Reducing Handoff Delay in NEMO based VANET) scheme is proposed in this paper. Number of vehicles moving towards the road constructs a domain where network mobility NEMO-BS protocol is applied. A vehicle is selected as MR (master router) and connected to the RSU (road side unit) to the internet and other vehicles in the domain work as LRs (localization router) and communicate through MR. Simulation tests performed in NS3 (network simulator) and MATLAB SIMULINK demonstrate that using LRs (localization router) in the domain, the number of handoffs and handoff delay are significantly reduced.

Abstract

In next-generation wireless networks, a user can be connected through Multi-Mode Device (MMD) to the multiple wireless networks in Heterogeneous Wireless Networks (HWN) considering several factors; including network technology, data service type, available bandwidth, Quality of Service (QoS), monetary cost, etc. To deal with all these multi attributes, game theory based models have been used to point out a better solution. This paper evaluates the techniques, methods, advantages, limitations of some game theory-based models for wireless resource allocation in HWN. Finally, it concludes that the Shapley Value method can be used for further research activities for its efficiency.
