Abstract

Diet in major cities was changed from a traditional diet to a Western diet. This was caused by imbalanced food intake and this was a risk factor of many health problems such as obesity, hypertension, dyslipidemia and insulin resistace were known as metabolic syndrome. This study was a descriptive cross-sectional study to determine energy and nutrient intake in patients with metabolic syndrome in RW 04 Kelurahan Sidomulyo Barat Kecamatan Tampan Kota Pekanbaru with 33 peoples as samples and used FFQ (Food Frequency Questionnaire) for data retrieval. The result showed that most of respondents were women (93,94%) and most of them were housewifes (87,88%) and were low education (51,52%). Range the age of them was 32-72 years old and most of them in 40-49 years old (48,49%) and most of them were Minang (51,52%). Most of respondents were high in energy intake ( 97% of total respondents with average intake: 2867 kcal), carbohydrate ( 78,79% of total respondents ), total fat ( 81% of total respondents) and SFA(Saturated Fatty Acid) ( 97% of total respondents ). Most of them were sufficient in consumed MUFA (Monounsaturated Fatty Acid) ( 69,70 % of total respondents ) and in cholesterol intake were sufficient too ( 64 % of total respondents), but the average value of cholesterol intake in respondents was high ( 315 mg ). All respondents consumed sufficient amounts of PUFA (Polyunsaturated Fatty Acid). Most of respondents ( 94 % of total respondents ) were less consumed fiber.Keywords: Metabolic syndrome, energy intake, nutrient intake

Abstract

ABSTRACTNutritional status is the standard about person's body condition that can be seen from the food consumed and the nutrients used by the body. The problems of nutritional status are undernutrition and overnutrition. Most of people in the city had overnutrition status. Nutritional status can be measured by antropometry. This research were done to figure out the nutritional profile of medical Faculty University of Riau students class 2012 and 2013 based on body mass index, waist hip ratio and waist circumference. This research was designed using descriptive cross sectional methode that amounted 238 students. The result were found age group 19 years old as many as 117 students (49,2%), mostly female as many as 192 students (80,7%). Based on body mass index showed 49,2% students include normal category, obesity 23,9%, overweight 16,0% and underweight 10,9%. Based on waist hip ratio showed 55,9% were found not obese and 44,1% include obesity and based on waist circumference showed 80,3% were found not obese and 19,7% include obesity.Key words: Body Mass Index, Waist Hip Ratio, Waist Circumference

Abstract

ABSTRACTAccording to data from the Health Research (Riskesdas) Ministry ofHealth of the Republic of Indonesia in 2013, the prevalence of obese adolescentsaged over 18 years in the province of Riau based on measurements of body massindex (BMI) of 32%. This figure is quite high compared to the average prevalenceof obesity in Indonesia as much as 15.4%. One of the factors that affectnutritional status is physical activity. This research is analytic research with crosssectional design of the students of the Faculty of Medicine, University of RiauGeneration of 2012 and 2013. This study used questionnaires to assess the statusof the IPAQ physical activity and BMI measurements to assess nutritional status.The results from this study is that the study respondents aged 19 years had thegreatest frequency are many 78 peoples (48.1%). Most respondents were femaleas much as 132 people (81,5%). Nutritional status of most respondents is normalthat as many 88 people (54,3%). Respondents who have the nutritional status ofoverweight and obesity as many as 74 people (45,7%). The most respondent havemoderate physical activity are 81 people ( 50 % ), and who have heavy physicalactivity as much are 25 people ( 15,4%) . Based from the chi square test found nosignificant association between physical activity with obesity ( p = 0.524 ) on thestudents of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Riau generation of 2012 and2013 .Keywords: Physical Activity, Obesity, Nutritional Status, BMI

Abstract

ABSTRACTNutritional status is the health status generated by the balance of the needs and input of nutrients or nutrients. Primary school children is one of the group that is susceptible to nutritional problem, underweight and overweight. The purpose of this study was to describe the nutritional status in children of primary school in Teluk Kiambang at Tempuling, Indragiri Hilir. This research is a descriptivestudy with cross-sectional design. Respondents in this research were student in grade 1-6 which consists of 400 people chosen by total sampling method. Data were collected by questionnaire filled out by the parents of the respondents to determine student characteristic data and calculate BMI by measuring height and weight to measure the nutritional status of students. Nutritional status is divided into malnutrition, underweight, normal, overweight and obese based on anthropometric standard with BMI/U indicator. The data showed that underweight nutritional status as the highest value were 153 people (38,3%), followed by normal nutritional status were 145 orang (36,3%), malnutrition nutritional status were 94 people (23,5%), overweight nutritional status were 7 people (1,8%) and obesity nutritional status were 1 people (0,3%). The conclusion of this studyis the average of the nutritional status of children has malnutrition nutritional the age group 6-9 years, male gender, education level of parents is elementary, the amount of revenue < UMR and a majority of the number of children > 2.Keywords: children of school age, nutrition, nutritional status

Abstract

ABSTRACTSchool-age children need a good nutrition to support learning activities at school. Nutritional intake will affect the concentration of power and intelligence of the child in receiving and absorbing the knowledge gained in school. The purpose of this study was to describe the nutritional status and nutrient intake in children of primary school in Sungai Sembilan, Dumai City. This research is a descriptive study with cross-sectional design. Respondents in this research were 153 boys and 192 girls were calculated BMI by measuring height and weight. Dietary intake assessment done by asking parents to fill the food record. Nutritional status is divided into very thin, thin, normal, obese and very obese, based on anthropometric indices while food intake consists of energy intake, carbohydrate, protein and fat. Children with very poor nutritional status of 3,5%, children with malnutrition status of 3,5%, obese children with nutritional status of 16.5%, the nutritional status of children with very fat 2,6% The majority of children receive the intake deficit Energy 36.5%, 52.2% less carbohydrates, less protein and less fat 41.7 43.5%.Keywords : children of school age, nutritional status, nutrient intake

Abstract

ABSTRACTPrimary school students are the group of student that potentially having problem with nutrition due to their eating behavior and development status. Good nutritional status will affect the growth and development of children, one of which can increase the intellectual capability. This study aimed to determine the overview of nutritional status of children in elementary school on district Bangko Rokan Hilir regency. This research is a descriptive study. The subject in this research were 210 students from grade 1 – 6 were taken with cluster sampling technique. Each of the subject asked to bring questionnaires to the parent to get the characteristic data of the student and then calculated children BMI by measuring height and weight. Nutritional status is divided into very thin, thin, normal, obese and very obese, based on anthropometric indices with BIM per age. The data showed that children with malnutrition were 50 children (23,8%), underweight were 58 children (27,6%), normal were 93 children (44,3%), overweight were 7 children (3,3%), and obesity were 2 children (1,0%).Keywords : children of school age, nutrition, nutritional status

Abstract

Anaemia is an important nutritional problems in Indonesia, including in Pekanbaru City in Riau Province. There is a relationship between nutrient intake with the incidence of anemia in young women. The study aimed to determine the incidence of anemia in female students at one of the junior high schools in Pekanbaru, as well as in relation to nutrient intake. The study was observational with cross sectional design. Samples consisted of adolescence of 57 student junior high school between 11-15 years old with Purposive Sampling Technique. Data of consumption were obtained from food recall, and data of anaemia were obtained by hemocue with digital hemoglobinometry. The collected data were process and analyzed using univariate and bivariate. There are 11 subjects (19.3%) who suffered from anemia. Most of adolescents had a deficiency in protein, iron, folic acid, and vitamin B12 consumption. The result of statistical test showed there was no significant difference in average intake of protein, iron, folic acid ,and vitamin B12, between anaemia and non anaemia adolescents (p>0.05). There was relationship between protein intake and anaemia (p=0. 041). Low intake of protein was risk factors of the anaemia incidence in female students at one of the junior high schools in Pekanbaru. Detection of nutritional status (dietary behavior) is needed to protect the incidence of anaemia of adolescent girls, and increased nutrition intake of adolescents through information, communication, and nutrition education.

Abstract

Background: Food poisonings in Indonesia mostly occurred in catering services. Salmonella sp., Campylobacter, Listeria, and E. coli are the types of bacteria that frequently cause food poisoning. Objective: The study aimed to detect Salmonella sp. on foods served in several restaurants. Methods: This research is a survey research with crossectional method. Selection of the restaurant was done by random sampling. There were 12 subdistricts and two restaurants were selected from each subdistrict in Pekanbaru, Riau, Indonesia. There were two types of foods consisted of animal and beans or vegetables, then 48 types of food from 24 Restaurants were obtained. The identification step was proceeded in Biochemical Laboratory of Health Polytechnic of Ministry of Health of Riau Province. This method was SNI 01-2332.2-1006 which was done with several steps of testing, namely pre-enrichment, enrichment, isolation and identification, and biochemical test. Data was presented in narration and univariate analysis for the frequency distribution of data. Results: In isolation and identification test steps on SS agar, there were 17 colonies found and suspected as Salmonella sp.. According to this data, it was found that 17 out of 48 (35,41%) of food samples in the restaurant contained bacteria. However, in the final steps of biochemical test there were 6 out of 48 total (12,5%) food samples contained Salmonella sp, and was found in 6 out of 24 restaurant (25%) and in 6 of 12 (50%) subdistricts. Foods that contained Salmonella sp. were rendang, chicken seasoning, tuna fish, vegetarian bak, fried shrimp, and grilled chicken Conclusion: Salmonella sp. found on foods served in several restaurants.

Abstract

Late adolescence (17-20 years) is when a child has made a career decision in the future. Body image in adolescentsassociated with eating disorders and psychological problems such as depression. Nutritional status is well alignedwith the quality of life of adolescents. This study aims to determine the body image, dietary behavior, and quality oflife in the period of late adolescence students of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Riau. This study was a crosssectionalanalytical study conducted at the end of the 87 teenage students of the Faculty of Medicine, University ofRiau. Selection of the subject of research conducted with total sampling. Measurements made with the body imagequestionnaire silhouettes body image, dietary behavioral data with the questionnaire (eating attitude test) / EAT-26,and the data Quality of Life with WHO-QOL questionnaire. Furthermore, the data presented descriptively. Of the 87respondents there were 25.3% (22) male subjects and 74.7% (65) female subjects. Based on BMI, there are morenutritional status (overweight and obesity) of 27.6%, less nutritional status (underweight) 17.2%. Based on abdominalcircumference there are 25.3% subjects felt obesity there are 51.7% research subjects who felt dissatisfied with herbody image. A total of 36.8% of research subjects perceive their bodies emaciated, 19.5% perceive overweight and1.2% obese perceived body image. A total of 9.2% of the subjects experienced the possibility of eating behaviordisorders. There are 43.7% of research subjects who have less quality of life.

Abstract

Dental caries and gingivitis are often found in Indonesia primary school students. The data from Puskesmas MuaraFajar noted, only 14.06% of Elementary Students who received dental care and 52% of them required treatment. TheObjective of study was to assess the students’ dental health knowledge and behavior level of SDN 174 Pekanbaruand to associate with dental health status, including dental caries, DMF-T OHI-S, Debris Index (DI-S) and CalculusIndex (CI-S). The methodology used a cross-sectional survey research design. The sample were 61 students whotaken by all students in grade 6 of SDN 174 Muara Fajar Pekanbaru. Examination of student’s dental health statuslike dental caries, DMF-T OHI-S, Debris Index (DI-S) and Calculus Index (CI-S) was made, and followed by askingthe knowledge and behavior questionnaire about dental health. Processed data with the statistical program SPSSversion 17. the data presented in the narrative, univariate analysis to look at the frequency distribution of the data,and bivariate analysis to find an association between the knowledge and behavior to the dental health status. Theresults showed that most characteristics respondents were female (50.8%), aged 12 years (41%) and have enoughnutrition (68.9%). Then there were 25 students (41%) having less knowledge about dental health and as many as 25students (41%) have the less behavior about dental health. While the results of the examination of the dental healthstatus showed as many as 24 students (39%) had problems in the DI-S, 12 students (20%) had problems in the CI-S,and as many as 26 students (43%) had problems in dental health (OHI -S). There was no relationship betweenknowledge of dental health to dental health status, but there is a relationship regarding student behavior of dentalhealth to dental health status(p = 0.02, OR = 3.4).
