Abstract

One discourse that is always taken into account in the Islamic world is the leadership of women in society. Patriarchal societies that always look down on women will always reject this discourse. In Islam, there are at least 3 groups in interpreting this discourse. First, the fundamentalists who always refuse, because they believe that a woman should only reign an internal household. Second, the liberal groups that are completely following western ideas, such as gender equality, feminism, secularism and so on. Third, the progressive groups who tend to be more careful in accepting concepts from the Western ideas before making corrections and criticisms. This article will explore the point of view of the well-known Syrian figure, Sa'id Ramadhan al-Buthi in understanding the concept of women's leadership in misogynistic hadiths. According to al-Būṭī, it is permissible for women to become a leader as long as they fulfil the 2 criteria, namely: a) Women who are nominated for this job must have the required expertise, so that they can carry out the job properly. This condition is between the men and women; b) The workload should not neglect the syaria (Islamic law) and they must still obey the ethics.

Abstract

Islam is a religion that gives mercy to all creation, a religion that teaches peace, safety and prosperity. In recent years, there have been many wicked individuals trying to destroy Islam. Unlike in the past where waging war on Islam were done only with swords, today's war against Islam is more powerful, that is by planting seeds of doubt in every Muslim's heart. Both in terms of aqidah (Creed) and Sharia (Islamic law). The current study is a library research. The main sources of this research data were taken from the kutub al sittah (the authentic six): Ṣaḥīḥ Bukhārī, Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim, Sunan Abī Dāwūd, Sunan al-Nasāʾi, Sunan al-Tirmidhi, and Sunan Ibn Mājah. Meanwhile, the secondary sources were taken from the takhrij and shurūḥ al-hadīth books. The conclusion of the current study reveals that the death penalty for those who turn back from Islam or apostates can be applied if they meet two conditions: 1) Leaving Islam either by word or deed; 2) Committing criminal acts, such as: dividing Muslims, creating chaos, damage, disobeying the state, and helping the enemy in fighting the Muslims. The author concludes that neither the verses in the Qur'an nor the hadiths of the Prophet PBUH immediately order the killing of a person who turns back from Islam, unless that person commits insubordination, is in league with the enemy and other similar things.

Abstract

In Article 29 Paragraph 2 of the 1945 Constitution, it is stated that the State guarantees the freedom of every citizen to embrace their respective religions and to worship according to their religion and beliefs. However, in reality, religious discrimination still occurs in recent years. In 2022, a man vandalized the Dipa Giri Sakti temple in Kediri, while in 2019, there was a controversy over the construction of a temple in Bekasi. The Padmosari statue of Hindu worshipers in Argosari Village was also damaged in 2019, allegedly by irresponsible individuals. The purpose of this research is: 1) to identify and describe efforts to promote religious tolerance in Bangorejo District, Banyuwangi Regency, 2) to identify and describe efforts to prevent religious discrimination in Bangorejo District, Banyuwangi Regency. This research uses a qualitative research method with data collection techniques of interviews, observation, and documentation. The results show that efforts to promote tolerance are carried out through: 1) Cultural-theological approach. The majority of the community has an inclusive understanding of religion, and even places of worship in Sambimulyo are located close to each other. 2) Institutional approach. Educational and government institutions support religious tolerance. 3) Psychological approach. The community in Sambimulyo has high empathy. Efforts to prevent discrimination are carried out through: 1) Contact theory, namely through interfaith dialogue. 2) Social identity theory. The Banyuwangi Regency government formed FKUB and the religious moderation village program. 3) Empathy theory, which focuses on individual worship. 4) Consensus decision theory. If discrimination occurs, a musyawarah (a consultation meeting) will be held with religious leaders from each religion.
