Abstract

Kegiatan PKM melalui pelatihan belajar Bahasa Inggris menggunakan flash card test untuk anak usia dini saat new normal bertujuan melatih kemampuan otak kanan untuk mengingat gambar dan kata-kata, sehingga perbendaharaan kata dan kemampuan membaca anak dapat dilatih dan ditingkatkan sejak usia dini. Pelaksanaan kegiatan PKM ini dilaksanakan melalui metode pelatihan dan test di RA Boeh Hatee Rahil yang dipandu oleh dosen menggunakan assessment for learning, yang dilakukan selama pembelajaran berlangsung dan menjadi dasar untuk memperbaiki pembelajaran, sehingga memungkinkan guru dan peserta didik memainkan peran utama guna memperbaiki dan meningkatkan pembelajaran bagi anak usia dini. Metode flash card test diharapkan memiliki efektifitas pembelajaran yang membuat siswa termotivasi, menarik dan menyenangkan serta sesuai dengan target pembelajaran. Maka, penggunaan media flash card adalah metode yang efektif untuk meningkatkan kosa kata dan pemahaman Bahasa Inggris untuk anak usia dini. Berdasarkan hasil pelaksanaan kegiatan PKM melalui pelatihan belajar Bahasa Inggris menggunakan flash card test untuk anak usia dini saat new normal disimpulkan bahwa 1) kegiatan ini dapat mengembalikan motivasi belajar anak setelah berlangsungnya lock down di masa pandemi covid 19 sehingga dapat menghilangkan pola pembelajaran yang tidak menarik; 2) kegiatan pembelajaran yang dilakukan dalam pelatihan ini dapat membangkitkan tingkat kecerdasan dan minat belajar anak usia dini yang tinggi melalui penggunaan media pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris; dan 3) penggunaan flash card dapat menarik perhatian siswa karena adanya gambar dan warna yang membuat anak usia dini ingin mengetahui lebih banyak tentang kosa kata Bahasa Inggris.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat berupa pelatihan Bahasa Inggris komunikatif dengan bermain dan bernyanyi bagi sswa SD Negeri 15 Peusangan Kabupaten Bireuen bertujuan untuk meningkatkan minat dan hasil belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran Bahasa Inggris dan menghilangkan persepsi bahwa Bahasa Inggris itu tidaklah sulit. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat melalui pelatihan Bahasa Inggris komunikatif dengan bermain dan bernyanyi bagi siswa SD Negeri 15 Peusangan Kabupaten Bireuen dilaksanakan sejak proposal diterima s.d proses evaluasi kegiatan yaitu 2-3 bulan dan akan menjadi program yang berkesinambungan, terhitung mulai November 2018 s.d Januari 2019. Adapun lokasi kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah di SD Negeri 15 Peusangan Kabupaten Bireuen. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan PKM ini adalah pelatihan dan simulasi, melibatkan siswa yang berperan aktif dalam proses pembelajaran. Berdasarkan hasil pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat berupa pelatihan Bahasa Inggris komunikatif dengan bermain dan bernyanyi bagi siswa SD Negeri 15 Peusangan Kabupaten Bireuen, dapat disimpulkan bahwa: 1) kegiatan ini merupakan program pengabdian yang dibutuhkan masyarakat sebagai upaya pemecahan permasalahan pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris yang selama ini dianggap membosankan; 2) kegiatan ini memiliki daya tarik tersendiri bagi peserta pelatihan, dikarenakan adanya penggunaan metode yang tepat dalam pengembangan pembelajaran; dan 3) hasil kegiatan pelatihan ini menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kemampuan berbahasa Inggris bagi peserta pelatihan sehingga perlu dukungan dari semua pihak.

Abstract

This article aimed at improving the students’ ability in mastering speaking V. This activity was done through a mechanism of in-service training, focused on an attempting to the lecture’s empower  according to their capacity and the problem faced. Lesson study is a model to improve the lectures through  and teaching analysis collaborative continuous based on colleagueship principles and mutual learning to build community learning. Lesson study was chosen and implemented to improve the students’ ability in mastering speaking V because it was considered as an  effective strategy  to improve teaching and learning quality in the classroom. This was also due to the fact that lesson study was developed and conducted under a shared profesiona-lism knowledge based on best practices and learning outcomes. There are four steps in conducting lesson study, such as (1) to plan research lesson, (2) to conduct and observe teaching and learning activities, (3) to analyze and discuss observation results, and (4) to make a reflection and revision. The students’ achievement in the fourth cycle was 80.16. Although, the students’ respond was 9.13%, it is mean that the students very interested in learning through lesson study. In conclusion, lesson study improved the students ability in mastering speaking V.    Key words : Ability, speaking V, lesson study

Abstract

This research explained about “Improving Students’ Ability in Writing Procedure Text Trough Broken Triangle/Square/Heart Model (A Classroom Action Research at SMA N 2 Peusangan)”. In fact, in real conditions most of the students could not write well. Such as the students had difficulties in finding some ideas, students were not able to write a good paragraph, the students had low motivation in writing. This researcher was Classroom Action Research . The data were analyzed through descriptive qualitative and quantitative research. This research was conducted at SMA N 2 Peusangan, Bireuen regency. The research subject was the first grade students of class X/1. In the first cycle, the action has not been successful and did not reach the criteria of success specified. The shortcoming in this cycle was the students did not manage the time well in doing the activity of writing procedure text; some of the students were still unmotivated and confused in writing procedure text. So, the researcher continued to the second cycle by improving the shortcoming in the first cycle. After the researcher did all steps of action research (cycle 1 and cycle 2) the students’ mean score increased from 64 in the first cycle, and became 72 in the second cycle. Furthermore, based on the result of questionnaire 82% students were motivated to learn procedure text. In addition, the researcher concluded that broken triangle/square/heart model had improved students’ ability and motivated them in writing procedure text. Key words: Writing Procedure Text, and Broken Triangle/Square/Heart Model.

Abstract

Penelitian ini berjudul Pengembangan Desain Modelpembelajaran Interaktif Berbasis Internet Dengan Menggunakan Aplikasi Skype Tele Conference Pada Mata Kuliah Speakingfor Formal Settings. Pembelajaran speaking membutuhkan referensi dan wawasan yang luas untuk mengekspresikan ide kepada pendengar. Selain itu, penguasaan kosa kata dan pengucapan yang jelas dapat membantu sipembicara (speaker) dalam menyampaikan pesan yang tepatkepada lawan bicara. Namun dalam kenyataannya, masih ada mahasiswa yang belum mampu menghasilkan suatu bentuk dari performa speaking yang bagus berdasarkan konsep dan kerangka berpikir yang tepat. Kekurangan informasi dan keterbatasan ide-ide yang cemerlang membuat pembelajaran speaking menjadi momok yang sangat menakutkan bagi mahasiswa. Oleh karena itu, dari berbagai permasalahn yang dihadapi mahasiswa dalam perkuliahan speaking peneliti tertarik untuk menerapkan media pembelajaran dengan menggunakan Skype Teleconference. Adapun hasil dari penelitian ini mahasiswa mencapai rata 8.16% hal ini menunjukkan bahwa pengguanaan media skype dapt meningkatkan kemampuan mahasiswa dalam mata kuliah Speaking. Abstract

This article aimed to know implementing of Think Pairs Write Techniqe  Improve the Students Writing Descriptive Text to the second year students of MTsN Bireuen). From the title above, the researcher formulated the problem of this research are (1) How does Think  Pairs Write Technique improve the students writing descriptive text at the second year students of MTsN Bireuen. The researchwas done because the researcher found that most of the second year students of MTsN Bireuen especially in class VIII3 can not write english well, most of them have difficulty in finding the ideas in writing and they were not responsive in learning writing because the technique or writing that used by the teacher at that school were not effective and interactive. The research subject was the second year students of MTsN Bireuen of class VIII3. This class consisted of 28 students, the instruments of this research were test, observation sheet, quetionnaires, and field notes. The design of this research was  classroom action research that was done in two cycles. The result of test in the first cycle was 65,8. While in the second cycle total score was 77,7. The students were reached the criteria of success after being model of Think Pairs Write Technique. It was mean that TPW technique improve the students in writing descriptive text.

Abstract

This article aims to improve the student’s ability in reading comprehension and to know the students’ response in implementing peer tutoring technique. The problem faced in this research were the students also kept silent during teaching learning process. They were passive and had no courage to share ideas with their friends and tended to work individually. They were not able to improve and to find the main idea of each paragraph. They had difficulties to differentiate between the main idea and supporting details. The problem also came from the teacher because did not use appropriate method in teaching reading. To solve this problem the researcher applied peer tutoring technique. The sample of this research were the second grade students of SMAN 1 Juli. Data analysis was qualitative research. After implementing peer tutoring technique the result of research was 75, it was categorized very good and reached the criteria of success. The students’ response was 4.1. It Means that the implementation of peer tutoring technique was success in teaching reading comprehension at SMAN 1 Juli. Keywords: Peer tutoring, Reading comprehension

Abstract

Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) adalah salah satu mata kuliah wajib bagi mahasiswa FKIP Almuslim jurusan Bahasa Inggris semester V sebelum praktik mengajar di lapangan. Mengoptimalkan belajar bahasa Inggris pada mata kuliah TEFL adalah salah satu cara untuk mengasah kemampuan Bahasa Inggris dan kemampuan mengaplikasikan berbagai strategi pembelajaran dalam Bahasa Inggris yang segala informasinya dikemas dalam bahasa tersebut.. Salah satu cara untuk mengasah kemampuan mahasiswa tersebut adalah dengan memberikan fasilitas yang berinovasi dalam proses belajar mengajar yaitu E-learning. Seiring perkembangan teknologi yang semakin tinggi perananya dalam segala aspek maka E-learning juga ikut  memiliki peran yang luar biasa terhadap suatu keberhasilan dalam proses belajar mengajar dengan kata lain E-learning menjadi fasilitas dalam mengoptimalkan pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris pada mata kuliahTEFL. Kata Kunci: TEFL, E-Learning

Abstract

The title of this Service Community Activity is the Training of English through the activity of making handy crafts from nonorganic wastes in elementary school students. The activity was done by given the training to the students to learn English vocabulary through the making of handy crafts from nonorganic wastes such as flower arrangement. The purpose of the training is to help the students in learning various English vocabularies. Through this training the students are expected to be able to mention and remember the English vocabulary related to the activity. For example, the students can pronounce the words such as: flower petals (kelopak bunga), leaves (daun), flower pistil (putik bunga), stalk (tangkai), cut out (menggunting), stringing (merangkai) and etc. This activity was held for one month starting from doing observation, preparing of the proposal, doing the training and ended by preparing the report. The activity and the training was held on January 2022 of the second week. During the training, the students were taught about the English vocabulary while aranging the flowers from the nonorganic waste. After doing the training, the result that can be found that the students were able to mention and pronounce the English vocabulary well and the students also could make and create the handy craft (flowers) from the nonorganic waste. Based on the result of the service community activity to the students of SDN 3 Muara Batu can be concluded that the training was done successfully.

Abstract

Trauma yang diakibatkan bencana banjir bandang di Desa Damaran Baru Kecamatan Timang Gajah Kabupaten Bener Meriah telah menggerakkan hati masyarakat untuk menjaga hutan di sekitar tempat tinggal mereka. Para perempuan bergerak melindungi kampung dengan membentuk Lembaga Pengelolaan Hutan Kampung (LPHK). Permasalahan pencegahan atau konservasi lingkungan melalui jalur edukasi (pendidikan) belum dilaksanakan secara formal. Tujuan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah menyusun Kompetensi Konservasi lingkungan melalui Focus Group Discussion (FGD) dan Melakukan Pelatihan model Pembelajaran Konservasi Lingkungan Berbasis Lesson Study kepada mitra yaitu Lembaga Pengelolaan Hutan Kampung Damaran Baru yang beranggotakan 20 orang. Hasil pengabdian berupa tersedianya modul pembelajaran konservasi berbasis local wisdom bagi perempuan-perempuan penjaga hutan di Desa Damaran Baru. Tahapan dalam pelatihan pembelajaran kepada perempuan penjaga hutan dan juga guru berbasis local wisdom tentang konservasi lingkungan melalui lesson study yaitu: (1). Plan yaitu Merancang Rencana Pembelajaran (lesson design) berbasis local wisdom tentang konservasi lingkungan melalui lesson study secara kolaborasi antara guru dan perempuan penjaga hutan, (2). Do (penerapan), pada tahap ini perempuan penjaga hutan menjadi model pembelajaran (guru) secara peer teaching untuk mendemonstrasikan rencana pembelajaran yang telah disusun secara bersama sebelum dilakukannya open class di sekolah. (3). Reflection (refleksi) yaitu mendiskusikan permasalahan yang ditemukan selama proses pembelajaran oleh observer pada tahap Do Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan tingkat pemahaman terkait lesson study oleh peserta mitra cukup tinggi, yaitu antara 85-92.  Local Wisdom-Based Environmental Conservation Learning Design Training Through Lesson Study at the Village Forest Ranger Institute (LPHK) in Bener Meriah Regency The trauma caused by the flash flood in Damaran Baru Village, Timang Gajah District, Bener Meriah Regency, has moved the hearts of the people to protect the forests around their homes. The women moved to protect the village by forming a village forest management institution (LPHK). The problem of environmental prevention or conservation through education (education) has not been implemented formally. The purpose of this community service is to develop Environmental Conservation Competence through Focus Group Discussions (FGD) and to Conduct Lesson Study-Based Environmental Conservation Learning Model Training to partners, namely the Kampung Damaran Baru Forest Management Institute, which has 20 members. The result of the dedication was in the form of the availability of local wisdom-based conservation learning modules for women forest rangers in Damaran Baru Village. The stages in learning training for women forest rangers and also local wisdom-based teachers on environmental conservation through lesson study are: (1). Plan, namely Designing Lesson Designs based on local wisdom about environmental conservation through collaborative lesson study between teachers and women forest rangers, (2). Do (implementation), at this stage the female forest ranger becomes a peer teaching learning model (teacher) to demonstrate the lesson plans that have been prepared together before conducting open classes in schools. (3). Reflection, namely discussing the problems found during the learning process by observers at the Do stage. The results of the activity show that the level of understanding related to lesson study by partner participants is quite high, namely between 85-92.
