Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of collaborative learning online through WhatsApp Messenger (WA) Group. The subjects in this study were 34 students of Mathematics Education at the University of Balikpapan who were studying the Theory of Numbers. Data collection techniques are carried out by observation (observation of chat activities within the WA Group), documentation, and learning outcomes tests. However, the results showed that the implementation of online learning through the WA Group went well. This can be seen from the achievement of student learning outcomes which shows that 27 out of 34 students get scores above 70. In addition, students also feel that they have new learning experiences, can express themselves in discussions, the atmosphere of learning is very relaxed, learning becomes more update, and can be accessed anywhere if students forget the material they have learned.

Abstract

Many schools only provide intensive mentoring or guidance if there is an agenda to take part in the competition to write scientific papers. But not a few who did not hold these activities, so students did not participate in the competition writing scientific papers. During this time the assistance in facing scientific writing competition was only focused on the problem of writing patterns and content of students' scientific writing. The accompanying teacher mostly corrects the writing and then agrees to be included in the competition. In addition, students' interest in participating in these competitions is also very minimal. For this reason, the need for the provision of Training and Mentoring for Youth Scientific Writing for Students of the High School / Equivalent in Muara Jawa District, Kutai Kartanegara Regency. The results obtained were from 9 groups of students formed during the activity, only 1 group was still conducting consultation and assistance online via email. This shows that students' interest is still lacking and this is a service evaluation so that in the future they can provide more time in activities like this. Abstract

Since Covid19 is declared as pandemic and is categorized as national disaster, government has urged all acitivities is limited to prevent physical contact. All fileds including educational organization should obey the protocol given. Meantime, University’s agenda in delivering the three pillars of higher education still need to be conducted with an adjustment, including one of them in the field of community services. For that reason, Institute for Reasearch and Community Services of Balikpapan University designed an International seminar involving keynote speakers from three countries in a web conferencing application. This Web-Based Seminar (Webinar) was chosen since it doesn’t involve physical contact and also very efficient. Three stages directed in this webinar; from preparation, conducting of the webinar and evaluation stage; were described in this article. There were 500 participants register to the webinar. This webinar was successfully managed with no significant disturbance. The key to the success of this webinar was well-planned and organized schedule, task distribution among organizer members, as well as the proactive communication that shall always be maintained.

Abstract

The purpose of this PkM is to find out how the service of providing vitamin A and deworming medicine during the Covid-19 pandemic to children in Sepinggan Village and how parents responded to the administration of Vitamin A and Deworming medicine during this pandemic The research subjects here are children who are in Melati Housing Phase 5, Sepinggan Village. Data collection methods are interviews and documentation. Interviews were conducted with parents and children. While the documentation is in the form of the name of the child who was given vitamin A and worm medicine. The data analysis technique uses source triangulation. Based on the results, it was found that vitamin A was given to toddlers, blue was given to children under 1 year of age, while red vitamin A was given to toddlers aged 1 to 5 years. Children aged 1 year to 2 years are given deworming medicine, which is half a tablet, while for children from two years to 12 years, one tablet of deworming is given. The parents' response was very good for this gift, because parents don't need to come to the puskesmas to ask for Vitamin A and Deworming Medicine, there is already a representative from the Posyandu to give Vitamin A tablets and Deworming Medicine, besides that during this pandemic, parents are also very worried to crowd and congregate in too many numbers.

Abstract

The purpose of this service is to find out how students develop emotionally and how students develop morally. This service is located in Bukit Anugerah Indah Housing Estate, RT 49, Sepinggan Village, Balikpapan City, East Kalimantan Province. The population of this service is the residents of Bukit Anugerah Indah Housing by taking research subjects from parents who have elementary school children. Data collection methods in the form of interviews and documentation. The data analysis technique in this service uses source triangulation, namely interviews with 3 mothers. It was found that the development of children varies depending on the age of the child, emotional development also affects what they think, emotions also describe what a person thinks. The more mature a person, the emotional level will rarely occur unlike in children which often happens. While moral development is very influential on a person's character, if someone wants to be respected, he must have good moral qualities, in school it is very good to be taught moral traits, to educate children to be better. In everyday life, it is also very necessary to teach children moral character, so that empathy, honesty, truth, and chastity will grow. Moral nature makes a person able to socialize with people.

Abstract

Matematika merupakan sarana untuk memecahkan masalah dalam kehidupan sehari-hari sehingga perlu dikuasai dengan baik, namun sebagian besar siswa mengganggap bahwa matematika adalah pelajaran yang sulit, khususnya kelas I, II & III di SD Negeri 009 Balikpapan Selatan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan kesulitan belajar siswa, faktor-faktor penyebab kesulitan belajar siswa dan hambatan dalam mengenali penyebab kesulitan belajar siswa di SD Negeri 009 Balikpapan Selatan. Penelitian ini adalah adalah penelitian yang bersifat kualitatif dengan subjek 9 siswa yang terindikasi kesulitan belajar matematika dan 3 guru kelas untuk membimbing dan mendampingi siswa. Teknik yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data adalah observasi, wawancara dan studi dokumentasi. Analisis data yang dilakukan adalah reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukan kesulitan yang dialami siswa dalam pembelajaran matematika yaitu, kesulitan memahami konsep, kesulitan dalam keterampilan perhitungan, kesulitan memecahkan masalah, kesulitan memahami simbol, dan penggunaan proses yang keliru. Faktor yang mempengaruhi kesulitan belajar faktor internal diantaranya, sikap belajar matematika siswa, minat belajar matematika siswa, motivasi belajar matematika siswa dan kemampuan penginderaan serta kesehatan tubuh. Faktor eksternal diantaranya penggunaan media pembelajaran, sarana dan prasarana sekolah, dan lingkungan keluarga. Hambatan dalam mengenali penyebab kesulitan belajar siswa adalah lingkungan sekolah serta motivasi dan sikap.

Abstract

Writing skills are indispensable in life. Based on the genre, writing can be divided into two, namely fiction and nonfiction. Poetry is one of the nonfiction genres. Writing poetry is a complicated activity. It takes a variety of assignments and training to develop poetry writing skills.. This activity is based on the many obstacles of young people in Balikpapan when writing poetry. This activity is carried out in four stages, namely preparation, implementation by conducting counseling by providing material; understanding, types, structure, and constituent elements of poetry, as well as evaluation, and preparation of reports. The implementers of this activity are FKIP lecturers at Balikpapan University and the Balikpapan Junjung Nyawa community. This activity was carried out at the Klandasan Parking Building which is located at Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, No. 9, Klandasan Ulu, Balikpapan City, East Kalimantan. The result of this activity is that the young people of Balikpapan can create poetry in accordance with the rules of writing good and correct poetry.
