Abstract

The ability to think critically is a thinking skill used to systematically investigate one's thinking process in using evidence and logic to the thinking process. This capability can be developed through the application of open ended problems. This type of research is qualitative. The research approach used is case study. Analysis of research data using the method of observation, test, and interview. In addition, validity and reliability tests were conducted on the instruments used. Based on the results of the validation level analysis for all aspects of 0.9 with high interpretation. The level of reliability of the test questions reached a high level with a coefficient of 0.92. The critical thinking ability of junior high school students in solving the problem of open ended problem math on the material of social arithmetic is still low reaching 50%. While the result of critical thinking ability analysis on each indicator is ability to give simple explanation 27%, build basic skill 24%, conclusion 18% make further explanation 10% and strategy and tactics reach 21%. Based on the above, there needs to be an alternative solution in improving students' critical thinking skills through the application of open ended problem in every learning mathematics. Keywords: Critical thinking ability,  open ended problem

Abstract

Mathematical communication of students is the ability of students to communicate both orally and in writing in the process of learning mathematics. The ability of students' mathematical communication can increase if there is a change in learning one of them through application  of Realistic Mathematics learning with STAD Type Cooperative Setting. This type of research is a classroom action research. Data analysis is done qualitatively and quantitatively to the ability of oral and written communication of students. Based on the results of analysis on the cycle I and II students' communication skills in cycle I and cycle II has increased. Student's oral communication ability in cycle I got the average score of 9.17 with the category of "Good Enough" and on cycle II increased with category "Very Good" and obtained average score 12.62. The students' writing communication skills also improved. In the first and second cycles of students' writing communication skills increased with the category of "Very Good" and obtained score 63.76 and in cycle II increased with the category "Very Good" and obtained an average score of 82.18. Based on these things then this learning can be used as an alternative in learning mathematics to improve the ability of oral and written communication of students.Key words: PMR, STAD, communication skill

Abstract

Learning outcomes are one of the benchmarks of successful learning activities. This study aims to determine the improvement of student learning outcomes in studying Fractional Numbers with the application of Realistic Mathematic Education (RME) learning model. The type of research used is Classroom Action Research (PTK). The study was designed using 2 cycles in each cycle consisting of 4 stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. Based on result of analysis, student activity at cycle 1 73.54% and cycle II equal to 86,35%. While the learning outcomes obtained average score 67 on cycle 1 and cycle 2 reached score 84. It proves that the activities and student learning outcomes can be increased by applying the learning model RME. For certain subjects, the RME learning model is used to avoid saturation in learning activities. Keywords: Realistics Mathematic Education (RME), Learning Outcomes

Abstract

This study aims to discuss the importance of High Order Thinking Skills in relation to solve mathematical problem solving. The method used is to describe the learning of mathematics related to problem solving using high-level thinking skills based on the results of a supportive reference study. Problem solving is a high-level mental process and requires a more complex process of thinking. Problem solving is a non-routine problem, meaning that the problem cannot be solved directly. This problem requires higher thinking skills in solving them. High Order Thinking Skills in Bloom Taxonomy in the cognitive domain consist of six levels: remembering, understanding, understanding, applying, analyzing, analyzing and evaluating (create). With high-level thinking skills a person will be able to solve problem solving problems properly. Given the importance of high-level thinking skills, these skills must be possessed by each student in answering mathematical problem solving. Abstract

During the current pandemic, the development of information and communication technology is very much needed in daring learning. The problem this study is how to describe the level of problem-solving abilities carried out by students in solving math problems on the number pattern material according to Polya during daring learning. This study aims to describe the problem-solving abilities according to Polya during daring learning on number pattern material for class VIII MTs. Hasanuddin Semboro with the subjects studied were 6 out of 23 students. This research method type of research used is descriptive qualitative research. The results showed that the, students tended to be incomplete in writing down known and asked data and students are able to describe number pattern problems using symbols. At the stage, students are able to recall the number pattern problems that have been resolved. At the stage of carrying out, students are able to carry out their plans and check for the previous steps to have been carried out. At the re-checking stage, some students are able to re-examine and steps that have been carried out.   Keywords: problem solving, number pattern, online learning

Abstract

During the current pandemic, the development of information and communication technology is very much needed in online learning. The problem in this study is how to describe the level of problem-solving abilities carried out by students in solving math problems on number material during online learning. This study aims to identify the difficulties of seventh grade students of SMP Nurul Chotib Wringinagung in learning mathematics on numbers. The type and approach in this research is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The data collection techniques in this study were tests, interviews and questionnaires, while data processing used the percentage formula P = × 100%. From the results of the study, it was concluded that the difficulty of grade VII students of SMP Nurul Chotib Wringinagung in number material was the lack of understanding of students in solving problem solving problems, often incorrectly using formulas in solving problems, as well as difficulty distinguishing between planning and implementing plans.   Keywords: difficulties problem solvig, numbers, online learning

Abstract

Abstrack This study aims to improve student activity and learning outcomes through the TAI learning model based on PBI. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (CAR). The research subjects were students of class VIII SMP An-Nisa Gumukmas. The data collection methods used were interview, observation, test and documentation methods. This research was conducted in two cycles. Based on the results of the research that has been done, the percentage of activity in the first cycle is 56.71% and in the second cycle it is 71.99%, that there appears to be an increase. Then for the average value in cycle I is 68.89 with a percentage of learning outcomes completeness of 55.56% and in cycle II an average value of 78.67 is obtained with a percentage of 92.59%, this shows that there appears to be an increase in activity and student learning outcomes by applying the TAI learning model based on PBI. From the results obtained, it can be concluded that the application of the TAI learning model based on PBI can increase student activity and learning outcomes.
