Abstract

Electroplating by using direct current (DC) electrical energy can be obtained with a rectifier or battery. The using of electric chrome plating forms hard surfaces, high aesthetic value, corrosion resistant, wear resistant, and much in demand by the public. In West Sumatra, most of home industry products of metal creation (steel, copper, brass) are not plated yet with chrome, so that, they become less attractive. Adding the electric chrome plating to the metal products is then expected to increase the value of those products. It is essential to electroplating copper (Cu) and nickel (Ni) first before chrome (Cr). It is to improve the adesivitas and brighten the metal. The system solution used are copper sulfate (CuSO4) i = 6.68 A/dm2, t = 2 min; nickel sulfate (NiSO4) i = 3.5 A/dm2, t= 2 min; and chrome acid (CrO3) i= 5.1 A/dm2, t= 20 min. Energy source is a 12 volt battery 60 amperes. The result showed that: a) Throwing Power solution tends to decrease after the first and second plating; b) the average of layer thickness Cu: 8.54 µm, Ni: 6.65 µm, and Cr: 3.23 µm; c) good adesivitas in which there’s no cracks even in 90oand 180obending.

Abstract

Chrome elektroplating in metal product is a way to increase the value of metal industial doer especially home industry. The best elektroplating can be shown in adhesion stratum in the metal, stratum shine, stratum thick, and substance of the stratum. Chrome elektroplating in a basic metal was done by two steps. First, nickel elektroplating and second, chrome elektroplating. Nickel elektroplating was done in current 3.5 Ampere, 9 Ampere, and 11 Ampere in twenty minutes. Both nickel and chrome elektroplating was done by dip method and current source from battery. Based on experimental data and the discussion, it can be perpoker substance, the thick of chrome elektroplating is 1 μm, 1.5 μm, 2.3 μm for current application 7 Ampere, 9 Ampere, and 11 Ampere solution. Coating adhesion and shiny of metal is good.

Abstract

The manufacture of particle boards without synthetic adhesives is influenced by the composition of the material, temperature, time, pressure, particle size and method of manufacture. The pressure of one important parameter and its variations often produce different properties. Pine skin is a waste that is not valuable and just wasted. Making particle boards from palm oil empty bunches and pine bark waste is an interesting and new thing. Pinus merkusii leather powder is used as an added ingredient, its composition is 70% tkks and 30% pine merkusii powder with 5-6% moisture content, dry based. The fiber lengths are 0.1-2.0 cm and pressures are 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 kg.cm-2, temperature 150, 160, 170, 180 and 190ºC. The standard for particle board reference and bending test is SNI 03-2105-2006 and ASTM D1037. The result show of working pressure and heating temperature affect the density, moisture content and MOR. Increasing pressure and temperature tend to increase the MOR value and increase in temperature above 190oC, the MOR value decreases.

Abstract

Produk logam berbahan dari kuningan dan baja yang dihasilkan oleh industri rumah tangga di Sumatera Barat belum tersentuh oleh teknologi pelapisan logam pada permukaannya, karena itu nilai ekonominya rendah. krom(Cr) merupakan logam yang memiliki nilai estetika tinggi dan tahan terhadap serangan korosi, sangat baik digunakan untuk pelapisan. Metoda pelapisan krompada produk logam mampu memberikan nilai tambah dan estetika yang tinggi, beberapa parameter penentu penting dicari ketepatannya. Percobaan pelapisan krommenggunakan dua metoda yaitu celup dan pancaran, setelah percobaan dilakukan uji komposisi dan pengamatan permukaan lapisan dengan EMAX. Hasilnya menunjukan pada permukaan lapisan kromsistem celup terdapat retak-retak halus dan jumlah unsur Cr 95,44 %wt, Ni 4,56 %wt, sedangkan lapisan kromsistem pancaran permukaannya mengkilap, terdapat retak-retak halus dan jumlah unsur Cr 82,12 %wt, Fe 13,3 %wt dan Cu 4,58 %wt. Nilai kekerasan pelapisan krom sistem celup lebih baik dibandingkan dengan pelapisan krom sistem pancaran. Abstract

Composites made from natural plant fibers that are environmentally friendly is now more attractive, lighter weight, the number of abundant, renewable, competitive prices has encouraged the use of a broad field of engineering, building interiors and clothing. The characteristics of each fiber is highly variable and influenced by the maturity of fiber materials, processing into fiber, perlakauan after so fibers and fiber treatment. Known properties of fiber can help choose the method that is right and good to be applied in the manufacturing process of composite. Pretreatment, composition and matrix settings, select the type of adhesive is a method that is widely used to obtain physical and mechanical properties superior but physical properties and mechanical produced highly variable and not consistent.

Abstract

In West Sumatra, the creation of domestic industrial metal copper, steel, chromium-coated products do not coated by chrome yet, so it is less interested in the community. Electroplating chrome with a simplified method is expected to increase the added value. Electroplating of copper (Cu) and nickel (Ni) to the steel plate is needed before chromium (Cr) coating. It aims to improve the adhesive of steel plate and to brighten the coating. A solution system used is copper sulfate (CuSO4), i = 6.68 A / dm 2 and t = 2 min, nickel sulfate (NiSO4), i = 3.5 A / dm 2 and t = 2 minutes and chromium acid (HCrO3), i = 5.1 A / dm 2 and t = 20 min. The energy source is a 12 volt 60 Ampere battery. The result shows that: a) the average layer thickness is; Cu 8.54 µm, Ni: 6.65 µm, and Cr: 3.23 µm. b) the adhesive of both layers are good, since there’s no cracks when bending 90 o and 180 o C) coating to some products which are made of brass with chrome anode showed a white color and shiny chrome.

Abstract

Di Sumatera Barat sabut kelapa jumlahnya tersedia melimpah dan belum dimanfaatkan maksimal, hanya sebagian kecil digunakan untuk memasak. Sabut kelapa memiliki serat yang cukup kuat dengan ukuran yang beragam, penambahan resin polyester menjadikan sabut kelapa sebagai komposit alam. Pencetakan komposit dilakukan dengan tekanan yang berbeda yaitu 30 kg/m2 , 40 kg/m2, dan 50 kg/m2. Tebal yang dihasilkan : 9 mm, 11 mm, dan 12 mm. selanjutnya komposit dipanaskan dengan daya 300 watt dan temperatur komposit diukur dengan menggunakan termokopel. Tebal elemen pemanas 3 mm dan luas permukaan 130 cm2. Hasil percobaan menunjukan kepadatan komposit sabut kelapa resin berpengaruh terhadap harga konduktivitas panas dan pada waktu awal pengukuran komposit yang kepadatannya tinggi, konduktivitas juga tinggi (28 w/m o C). Pada waktu pengukuran berikutnya, komposit dengan kepadatan tinggi turun drastis dan secara keseluruhan komposit sabut kelapa dan resin kurang stabil konduktivitasnya
