Abstract

Some students still find it challenging to be motivated to read. Internal and external factors can cause a lack of motivation to read. To motivate students to read, there are several reading platforms to use, one of them is Wattpad. Wattpad is a platform for reading and writing that was developed by Allen Lau and Ivan Yuen in 2006. There are many studies that use Wattpad as a media. However, those studies discuss the effect of the Wattpad app on reading comprehension, extensive reading, or writing ability. Only a few investigate the topic of reading motivation itself. Therefore, the researcher is interested in investigating the effectiveness of the Wattpad app on students' motivation to read. The objective of this research is to know the interplay of the Wattpad app to motivate students to read. This research uses a systematic literature review by collecting 20 journals taken from Google Scholar, ResearchGate, Microsoft Academic, and Science Direct. These journals are then sorted and analyzed to obtain data. The finding of this research is that Wattpad is an effective media to make students motivated to read. Keywords: Wattpad app, Motivation, reading

Abstract

This qualitative research investigates the critical thinking skill ability on language input ability. However, past researchers failed to identify this and focused on the output and emotional factors, even the background knowledge of the samples is mentioned as a problem. The method used in this research is a Systematic Literature Review. This study investigates the connection between critical thinking and input ability skills within the debate framework. In debate, the spontaneous and responsive ability intrigues the researcher in case of debate. Nevertheless, the forgotten essential in the debate is the input ability, for example, confirming information, summarizing, catching details, listening to the arguments, processing the flaw, and other necessary skills in debate before the output ability. The sources for this literature review are from the past thirty journals before in the past ten years. The data is collected on the internet with the help of Google Scholar and reviewed by summarizing the journals and taking a conclusion with the result revealed. The result of this paper shows that emotional intelligence, output and input ability concern, speaking proficiency and CTS thorough debate framework are related. This means that input ability plays a major key in output production The excitement for the next research is to find a method to equalize the improvement of input abilities rather than focusing on output ability.

However, despite numerous studies on the topic, the factor of the occurrence of FLA in the context of second language acquisition is still rarely discussed. Thus, this study aims to explore deeper the factors which affect learners' FLA in second language acquisition. This research employs a systematic literature review as the method of research. The data are gathered from several journals and articles from previous years related to learners’ FLA factors. The findings of this research give insight to educators in comprehending learners’ anxiety in second language acquisition with its factors. Abstract

A growing interest in studies about learners’ personalities in language learning has occurred from time to time. However, there are contradictions in many studies. Some claim that extroverts are more successful in language learning, whereas some believe the opposite. Other factors may influence the learner’s language learning, other than their personalities; therefore, this study explores the influence of extrovert and introvert personalities on language learning and the difference between them. The method used in this study is a literature review obtained from various research engine databases such as Google Scholar, ResearchGate, and ProQuest. The data are collected from journal articles, theses, dissertations, and books and analyzed using thematic analysis. This study found that various aspects influence the learner’s achievement in language learning other than the learner’s personality. The implication of this study benefits the teachers to define the best teaching method and strategy for each personality in language learning and the students to find the best learning strategy based on their personality. It also can be a reference for other researchers to conduct a study based on the same variables.

Abstract

Reading is an important skill in learning English but sometimes students have some problems with the reading process because of their limited vocabulary knowledge, poor comprehension, and difficulty to recall information after reading. The teachers need to help the students to resolve these problems by creating learning media in teaching reading. Based on previous research, some researchers used story cubes and dice games as learning media by using the cube in pictures and cube in the shape of dice to improve various skills such as grammar, vocabulary, and writing skills, but there are no researchers discussed Question Cube by using questions in the cube as a learning media in teaching reading comprehension. Therefore, in this research, the researcher offered an alternative media which is a question cube media to teach students. The purpose of this research is to find out whether or not Question Cube is an effective medium to increase students' reading comprehension. In this research, the researcher used a literature review research method by collecting 30 articles taken from Google Scholar and ResearchGate. These articles were then sorted and analyzed to obtain data. From 30 articles that researchers have read, it showed that Question Cube media can bear positive change and improvement toward students' reading comprehension. In addition, it also played a considerable role in teaching vocabulary, boosting writing skills, and improving the learners’ grammar as well as other several benefits in EFL instructional process
